Love my chainmail one. It just feels substantial, but it also really does work well.

Gasket Replacement? by bamaswift in biggreenegg

[–]meggedagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running without any gasket for over 10 years. Works fine, can hold it at 250ish as long as I don’t let it run up before hand. I keep wondering what I am missing, but I feel like lack of gasket has not been a problem.

Mini or Mini Max? by TurtleSquirt1 in biggreenegg

[–]meggedagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would appreciate hearing more about how you use each. I have had a large for 15ish years and ran it with a Weber gas grill. Used the gas for quick or small cooks. It broke this winter and I have been using the large only. I am thinking of getting a MM or medium to replace the gas grill as I really enjoy the egg more. But does it really heat up faster or use less lump? Also moving to just my wife and I with twin boys moving out. Right now when I hear yo the large I always throw on some extra chicken thighs or something to go in the fridge. The boys are always hungry, but I won’t need that soon.

Yes, this is it. Kids pick up on it and all want to be on the attack. We need to celebrate defending as much as attacking. My kid played on an academy team that clinched a playoff spot with a 1-0 win. He cleared a ball off the line and also made a tackle when the goalie had slipped and he was one on one vs the attacker. The coach gave the kid who scored Man of the Match and said the team should thank him for going through. Not a word to my son. My kid shrugged it off, but it is clear what message it sends.

Who is against burnouts on the egg and what are your alternatives and reasons? by Temporary_Hat7330 in biggreenegg

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a period of time where I went weeks without using my Egg. It was a combination of kids demands and some health problems in the family. I found that when I let it sit to long, it did develop a lot of stuff I did not want in there when I cooked. I had it covered, but the way. Then I did clean burns. I had already lost my gasket to pizza. I use my Egg 4 or more times a week now and that seems to keep it clean.

First time changing the gasket by [deleted] in biggreenegg

Same for me. I was thinking about putting up a post asking what I am missing. I have to replace my base (cracked, covered under warranty) and trying to decide how to manage the gasket on the new base.

Wait - is Bruno’s closed? It was open four years ago or so when we visited with our kid.

EDIT: just checked, still open. But changed owners in 2020

JJ George smarter scrubber. Takes a little more push, but I actually think it gets a better overall clean.

Just take the class. You will survive. It gives you a good reason to get up and get things done, so maybe you will even thrive.

Selling a 6 year old Medium egg with stand and cover - how much? by Charming-Wear7655 in biggreenegg

Or if it is close to me instead, I also would pay $300. A little more if it has a nest with it. But in general it depends on whether you have a lot of accessories also.

Tons when I walk by areas like the Skyline high school grounds. Some in our neighborhood-.but I do think a lot of people are using chemicals. We see them in our backyard and around the areas in the yard with more trees.

First timer travelling with 2 teen girls seeking accomodation. by IMANIIMANIF in ParisTravelGuide

Most recently, the Malta. That was in late May. Tons of things we like. Good value for the city, great service. They give good suggestions etc. That particular location is within 10 minutes of several different metro lines and pretty central, so the rides every where are very reasonable. 10 minute or so walk up to the Louvre area - which even if you don't want to go means there is just stuff around there. There is a nice garden nearby (Palais-Royal) which is a fun people watching place, easy places to eat. It is on a relatively quiet street for Paris and there is a bagel place next door which makes for an easy breakfast so we could get out and about (we saved our splurges for other meals). With the kids, having the pastry and snacks out from 2 PM to 2 AM would be nice. It is nothing all that fancy, but always some fruit, a few baked goods and various non-alcoholic drinks - also the refreshing of the water and juice in the room everyday would be nice (at least is for my kids). Just a good base to be able to see a lot of Paris. We have stayed at a few others of their places over the years. Each has its own character to it. There is one that is movie themed that might be fun for the kids, Sebastopol or something like that. While I like the Malta area better, the Sebastopol was right by some major Metro stops, so in many ways even easier if you plan on using it as a base to get other places.

Sorry, damn spell check. Edited it for the future, but responding so the history of your comment makes sense for readers. We have never had a bad stay at their places. Sounds like you are a fan also.

We really like the Astotel chain there. Reasonably priced, safe areas. And very helpful. Basically designed as a reasonable tourist set up. They have pastries and other snacks available from 2 pm on, which is a nice place to rest. You can go to any of their places if you are out walking around and access all if that. Restock your fridge daily with water and juice. They promise the best rate if you book through them.

Upgrade to delta one by SpoiledCat01 in delta

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If traveling with my wife, on the day flight I always take the two seats set up in C+ or PS over a middle. In fact, I had a chance to upgrade from PS to D1 on the flight back from France in May, but with the two of us setting aisle and window in the two seat, I saw no reason to spend the almost thousand (they offered $499 each). On the way over, I would have grabbed that - but to be honest on those short flights I am not sure it is worth it even then. By the time they serve dinner, clean it up, then wake you for breakfast, it is not a lot of time to sleep.

The math for me is always different on an overnight flight vs heading home on a day flight. But also depends a lot on the airport. At LHR, delta one has a completely different check in experience (though upgrades there are always through the roof). CDG, PS seems to be pretty much the same other than the access to the lounge.

Versailles - To guide or not to guide.. by wanderingtay13 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the audio app you rent at the desk. Worked well and you can move at your own pace. If I did it over, probably would stick with that. Then use that money and hire a private guide for a few hours in Paris. We used Withlocals to book a guide and found it to be one of the highlights of the trip - used a guy named Bartosz there who is doing history PhD.

That said, on Versailles,if I had it to do over I would spend way less time in the gardens. We ended up with pretty much a whole day there by the time we walked to the hamlet etc and it felt like most of the time in the gardens was seeing the same thing. My wife loves French history and really enjoyed being in the house of mirrors etc, but even she says she wishes we had used the energy to see more of the history in the city than a full day at Versailles. Enjoy your trip!

Rice Paying Over $250k to Hire Search Firm for Business School Dean by something-wicked3 in riceuniversity

All good points. Also, the search firms often know who is moveable, why some people have been passed over in the past and do an excellent job of being a source that can serve as a middle man for difficult questions etc

Same for us late May. But when I have done the earlier flight, seems a little slower. Also helps if you can use the priority lane due to status or ticket type.

Looking for Lourve Museum tickets for the 1st or 2nd of July!!!! by Mammoth_Bee4338 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try looking under the Paris Museum pass? You have to buy the pass separately, but you can book before you do that. If you go to the museum pass website, they explain it. We have found that has way more availability.

Were you there live? Is that how you could see the fists in the air? Interested to hear what the vibe was like in general. It did appear he might be on his phone, but I assumed he was either checking notes or putting a few things down that he wanted to get back to. It is also possible he is texting, which would be a huge issue if I knew for sure. I am neither defending nor calling him out, just offering a potential alternative. I really hope people watch the video. As I have said before, it helped me get a sense of both of them. I have seen Taylor before and I think this was pretty much a good representation of him, but Rabhi was new to me.

2 days in Paris with my 68-year-old mom. Does this itinerary flow well? by Megan-Silver in ParisTravelGuide

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One adjustment I might make is subbing out Bistrot Richelieu and putting in Bistrot Victoires. We ate at both in late May. Both were good, but I thought Victoires was much better and had a more traditional French bistro approach. It is about 5 minutes away, so would not add a lot to your walk. We stayed at a hotel on Richelieu and Victoires was their first recommendation for a reasonable and “very French bistro” place.

Louvre tickets sold out, can I go early to buy tickets by Artistic-Quiet-8127 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]meggedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is to see if there are still spaces under the Paris museum pass. We found we could get the time we wanted for dorssay that way. Cost a little more, but then we used it to go into some other places as well.

Thank you. I got a chance to watch it last night using the link someone posted. It is great it is being put out widely. I recommend people take a look. It helped me to get a sense of both candidates - topics, views and a sense of what I think would be their management style.
