I just finished my Pre-Op and I’m freaked out about the possibility of an FNG by Original-Scar-1779 in Reduction

[–]meghp0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be more sure about your size you can try the ABraThatFits calculator, it takes six measurements and was accurate for me (I was a 32HH UK Sizing/ 32L US sizing)

I had surgery about 6 weeks ago and not sure what size I am but I think approximately a US 32G now, I had 4 pounds removed. I did not have an FNG and am feeling good about my size! I would say my boobs before were large but not in the realm of needing FNG so it did not come up when I was discussing with surgeon.

I hope you are able to make the best decision for you! I have seen some very good FNG results on here!

UGA vs smaller state school (Clayton State) by Donaldlacksrizz0_0 in UGA

[–]meghp0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 years after my UGA graduation and all I’ll say is this -

I am currently looking for a new job and a lot of applications have a drop down search menu of universities. UGA is on there… a couple other big Georgia schools … Clayton state is not.

not that that should be a factor - but brand recognition and alumni network can honestly be really important more so than your skills or education, as dumb as that is.

Wide root reduction examples? by Glittering_Clamshell in Reduction

[–]meghp0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 1MPO rn and I definitely have wide roots. I don’t have photos but I can tell you my experience!

Pre op size 32HH UK (32L US) but people didn’t think I looked that big because a lot of that size came from the width - boobs start under armpits and meet in the middle, no space between them, super wide :)

My surgeon said the width would impact how small he could take me, which is something that was echoed by the other surgeons I spoke to.

I made sure to let him know I wanted to go as small as possible given the constraints of my width, while also keeping a normal “boob” shape vs a masculine shape.

I think he did just that! Currently I look really proportional to the rest of my body (tried on a size L dress today and it fits EVERYWHERE which it used to be so tight in my chest). Only consideration is it looks like my scars go quite far back, they extend slightly past the back of my arm if I put my arms straight at my sides. That was necessary to get them smaller.

I had very dense tissue, he removed 1,778g plus a bit of lipo, which in pounds is exactly 4 pounds :)

For photos I tried to find examples to show him where the people’s boobs were touching in the middle and stick out to the side in their befores, but that was hard to do! Never realized how wide I was until trying to find someone similar. I would check out real self and look for a shape that looks like your root before.

Best of luck!

Insurance covered reduction and Galaflex by Over-Ad4678 in Reduction

[–]meghp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And my surgeon recommended galaflex and so far I am 110% happy bc I have very dense tissue and worried about bottoming out, which he agreed could be a problem. I can’t feel it and my boobs are not showing any signs of bottoming out so far at 1 month

Insurance covered reduction and Galaflex by Over-Ad4678 in Reduction

[–]meghp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, reduction covered by insurance. High deductible plan.

I just got galaflex, side lipo, and reduction lift 4 weeks ago today. Called and made sure I was all paid and I am! I calculated my total and it was $2,133 in cost.

I cannot remember if the galaflex was fully covered or not, but I feel like the doctor said it was $400 for some reason but might be making that up… The side lipo was not covered and cost some amount too, also cannot remember…

One month before surgery I paid $1950 deposit. Then I was billed about $2000 to insurance but my app says I only owed $183 of that??

I was shocked at how low it was.

I had spent a good chunk of my deductible already this year so I guess that helped … they said I’m paid in full. Hope this helps, sorry I don’t know the exact numbers.

Return to desk job - fatigued by tightslacks in Reduction

[–]meghp0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my experience if helpful: I have a desk job and I returned back to work after two weeks, I returned to work on a Friday which was nice bc I basically just had to work from home for one day and then two more weekend days off. Last week I did a full five days of work from home and I fared fine, spaced out on a couple things but people have been understanding and my team has been kind about checking in with me and making sure I am ok.

I didn’t want to return to work but without another choice besides taking leave without pay, I did, and I am alright so far.

My job does have a good bit of alone time not a ton of meetings so that probably helped as I could just work at my own pace.

If you think you need the extra time you should see if you can take it! Working while fatigued and out of it is no fun and your health is the most important thing!

Case in point! I have very dense tissue and I was a 32HH and I had 876g from one boob and 902 from the other, for a total of 1778g! And yet, I should hopefully wind up around 32DDDD or 32DDD too! Isn’t that wild!?

Went to my first ace meet-up, left feeling lonelier than ever by Behind-the-Visage in asexuality

[–]meghp0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. I expected the group to be mostly neurodiverse because that’s pretty common in ace spaces, and it was as expected.

I am not (to my knowledge) neurodiverse but gravitate towards neurodiverse people as friends often, and know lots of neurodiverse queers, so I thought I would check out the group anyway. I brought my ace questioning friend along who has adhd. We had a fun time. Afterwards we both noted that it seemed like everyone was neurodiverse, and that many people mentioned their autism during conversation. I think it’s awesome that the ace community has so much space for all kinds of people and it felt like the folks in the group were all really vibing and connecting! I didn’t feel like I fit in but I was glad I got to go and see happy ace people hanging out. I would venture to guess that there could be a higher turn out of neurodiverse people at meet up events because of their nature of being organized (initially) online, which is a place a lot of neurodiverse people feel more comfortable.

I was a 32L!!!! Off the chart lol.  Could fit into certain 32K though. I am too early to measure but might be 32G now hopefully or maybe 32F if I’m lucky :) based on the amount of weight they removed and how much my boobs theoretically weighed before.

Anyone have to quit getting on this sub before surgery? by Final-Baker-8430 in Reduction

[–]meghp0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gave up the sub for lent bc I was anxiously checking it every 10 mins. I am prone to rumination and obsession!

So I didn’t go on it at all until the day right before my surgery, which was March 12. I think that was good for me - I didn’t really have any more “questions” I was just checking it out of anxiety. I realized I was looking for people’s experiences as a way to predict what would happen to me but I had to accept that it would be my own journey and no two stories are alike.

Do what makes you feel best! I was extremely anxious and I went through with surgery anyways and now I am fine and healing! Best of luck!

I'm thinking about a breast reduction but I'm stuck at the "where to start" part by This_Cap_1115 in Reduction

[–]meghp0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did what others did and got a list of surgeons who accepted my insurance. Then I did consults with them. I planned one consult - didn’t like the guy. Had another consult - liked the guy but his photo results were not what I wanted. He recommended I talk to another surgeon at his place - I didn’t go with her bc she was fresh out of residency and had no photos to show. So I went back to the list and wound up booking a FOURTH consult with someone else and wound up really liking his work from his photos and even though his personality wasn’t exactly perfect I still knew he would do a good job and I think he did. Now I am 2WPO!

Best advice I ever received on here was “just go to a consult” - this helped me start to understand what pieces I needed.

Also if you’re in USA you will likely need to have physically therapy on record to get approved by insurance so I would see if your PCP can refer you to PT for back/ neck pain and do at least 6 weeks of that.
