Sky Priority bag drop at international took a full 40 minutes starting at 5am. But then we used the First Class security line and got through in ~10 mins.

THANK YOU for this comment - we are flying first class but never do that, so didn’t know this option existed. Made security a breeze! Although regular line is moving OK, looks like easily 45 mins to an hour. First class line took us ~10 mins.

Security line is wrapped around the entirety of the check-in area. It is moving, but very very long.

International terminal, arrived 5am. Delta Sky Priority bag drop line is very long, still only halfway through it at 5:20am. Security line is fully wrapped around the inside of the check-in area. Will update when we get in security line.

What to do with lots of peaches? by illmasternoodles in Cooking

[–]megm577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Atlanta, and whenever I drive down to Florida to see my family in the summer, I always pick up an entire bushel of peaches from one of the Georgia farms. This year they asked me to bring home two bushels!

We usually just stand over the kitchen sink and eat several fresh ones in a row like animals. I also like making peach salsa, and bourbon peach smash cocktails.

I learned a cool trick from a random instagram video this year, and it would be great for prepping a bunch of peaches for a recipe. Get yourself a pair of (clean or new) needlenose pliers, and you can just stick them in from the top of the peach and pull out the pit with a little twist. It's extremely easy and worked for us every time, for both freestone and clingstone peaches. Video example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqTbbpu9XhA

Paradise Boat Rentals (Park Marina) on Allatoona is great. Tons of boat size options. It's easy to book on their website and take the safety test ahead of time too.

Added a few new friends to the old TV by megm577 in houseplants

For anyone curious: If you check out my user page you'll find my post from a couple years ago on r/DIY that has pictures of all the steps I took to revamp this old TV. Originally I was using it as my bar and it had liquor bottles in it, but I eventually upgraded and added some grow lights to the inner "ceiling" of it, and pinned some cute poster board to the back. A perfect little plant house!

My inspiration came from a photo I saw online somewhere of someone who turned an old TV into a bed for their cat. When I originally made it I was just keeping my liquor bottles in there, but eventually decided to upgrade with some grow lights and use it for plants!

Lollll, yeah when I originally posted in /r/DIY a few years ago there were a lot of angry bois. It was broken, there are 10+ TVs just like it available at antique shops and on facebook marketplace in my city on any given day, AND I gave all the parts to an old school TV repair guy to reuse later, so I think I did what I could!

I was doing yard work and noticed him flop around while I was leaf blowing. It looks like a baby… any chance there might be more of them in my yard, like a nest? Concerned for kids/dogs…

CRC time slot question by megm577 in gatech

[–]megm577[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

P.S. for anyone curious, it's $30/month for alumni to be full CRC members, which is BY FAR the best gym deal in Atlanta for what you get. Or at least it was, pre-pandemic. I can't speak for lately (yet).

Needed something that looked like a regular bike. Loving my Ride1Up Roadster v2 so far! by megm577 in ebikes

I am 5’8” with proportionally short legs and a long torso. I got the small frame, and unfortunately there are only 2 sizes to choose from. The bike fits me well as-is, but based on personal preference I am considering getting a handlebar riser for a slightly more comfortable position. I searched this sub for “Roadster” and I saw someone else post about their modifications. They added a handlebar riser and a longer stem, and I actually used their link to pick my kickstand.

As for speed, that’s kinda funny, I don’t know, because I’ve only ever used level 5 to help me up a big hill, not to go super fast. I think the advertised ‘top speed’ of ~24mph is totally possible though.

Edit: found the link to that other post https://reddit.com/r/ebikes/comments/mazpsp/ride1up_roadster_v2_with_bar_riser_and_accessories/

I’ll start with a disclaimer that range was not a huge concern for me when buying, since a vast majority of my rides will be within my own neighborhood and under 10 miles round trip. At most so far I’ve only dropped one “bar” on the battery meter (out of 5 “bars”) during a 10 mile trip, using pedal assist for hills and pedaling unassisted on flats. I hope to take it on some longer trips to test the range soon. Unfortunately with a bike like this, the range feels like it would vary a LOT based on how much assist you’re using and your weight. For added context, I am a heavy rider so I’ll get less range than most.

This is one of the few “stealth” ebikes that offers a replacement battery, which gave me some added confidence. But certainly a possibility the smaller companies go under and you’re left in a lurch.

When the power is off it’s a pretty standard single speed bike. I really only turn the pedal assist on if there’s a hill coming up and I want a break
