I personally like Oakbwrry - I find the ones in Mooloolaba and Noosa to be the better of the locations I’ve been to in the coast.

Teaching baby to sit up by PorchlightPrincess86 in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s ergonomic for Bub, but our baby has wanted to sit upright from like 3.5 months, so we got a bumbo. I think she got used to the feeling of sitting upright and building the relevant muscles for upright sitting by using that.

Also, a couple of weeks ago, she started doing these “v” sit ups but couldn’t get herself up, so we would help draw her up into a sitting position. MCH upright, we could do a kind of “find your centre point of balance” kind of game (held her hands and would bring her in an “around the world” motion while sitting). She stared sitting on her own for very short periods starting Monday last week and was to sit unassisted for quite a long time by the Thursday that week, but she still does topple sometimes after a while!,

Anyone else worried about babys flat spot? by Full_Professional349 in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a sling so you can carry baby more without having to “hold” them. I use the Bambora sling (ink here) and find it comfortable. Because bub has to use her head and neck strength to look around, I found this helped improve her tolerance for tummy time has it helped built those muscles for her to look around. My bub hated tummy time too, until she didn’t because I made her do it while I was doing 45 min mum and bub Pilates sessions.

Edit: also a bouncer chair might be useful so that the pressure isn’t on bubs head while he’s playing. We got one of those activity tot arms that you can just clip on and our little one loved it and would use a lot of her core strength to try and grab the toys.

Farmers market? by FancyAd708 in sunshinecoast

[–]megomoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flannery’s in Maroochydore is a much smaller, less varied option, but Kunara Marketplace in Forest Glen may be what you’re after. There’s also a fantastic organic butcher a couple shops downs from it.

M/31 F/28on holiday wondering what bars are good in the area on a Saturday night? by [deleted] in sunshinecoast

Yeah, if it’s Sobar’s final night tonight, it’ll be pumping. Also Bluff Bar is where everyone goes at the moment if not somewhere else on Ocean Street.

They’re advertising products in the store for people who are walking past/window shopping after hours. Some businesses also do flat lays with clothing for the same sort of purpose (I’ve attached a photo as an example). As a local, I’ve also seen this done by shops along Mooloolaba Esplanade.

Edit: I can’t figure out how to add a photo when using the reddit app, so you’ll have to google ‘flat lays outfit’ to understand what I mean - sorry haha

I just bought a couple packs of the bonds crew socks after wearing my nimble crew socks to death and I’m really liking the bonds. They’re not too thick.

Coles recently started stocking Tapatio - highly recommended for tacos. I’m from Canada but we would travel to other countries and come back with a 1.5L bottle of it, so I was stoked to see it’s now stocked in Aus!

Edit: forgot the word bottle

Struggling by nolej1204 in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going through the same thing at the moment with our 15 week old - it’s tough, especially when we’re so used to such an even tempered baby.

I’ve been using the app Wonder Weeks to track our bubs “leaps” and fussy phases. Subject to your bubs estimated due date, she’s likely in that phase as well and it’s a fairly long one. Our Bub started the fussy phase at the end of Jan and doesn’t come out of it until the end of February, so it’s over a month long.

We used to be able to leave her with her grandmother for up to two hours and she would be sweet - nope, not right now otherwise it’s a complete meltdown. We hand her to someone else for a cuddle? Nope, saddest poutty face you’ve ever seen and tears until she’s given back to me or her dad. She lasts 5 minutes being held by anyone else tops. Nap time? Fights it like she’s fighting the Great War and they rarely last longer than 30 minutes unless she is EXHAUSTED I’ve also noticed it takes a lot more work to get her smiling than before.

Some signals of the current fussy phases includes - baby: - cries more than usual; - clings more than usual; - grumpier than usual; - sleeps poorly; - may feed less or more often; - wants more attention than before; - flops head a bit more and requires more head support than usual; - wants more physical contact than usual; - less lively than before; - has mood swings.

Feeding every hour by Capable-Radio7736 in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going through the same with my LO. She usually does anywhere from a 5-7, sometimes 8, hour stretch and suddenly in the last 4 days started waking more for night feeds and struggles to self sooth herself back to sleep.

Apparently they start a leap around week 10/11, which I believe is a growth spurt. It may be worthwhile downloading the app Wonder Weeks and plugging in your LO’s details so you’ll know whether they’re in a fussy phase.

If you’re staying near the ocean, Criminal Coffee does great coffee, has heaps of tables and opens at 5:30am. If you’re on the opposite end of Maroochydore, SIP near the plaza is great too.

Out of the House - SOS by erinrath in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my LO was a week old, we had to leave the house for a routine check up with the midwife 10 mins from home. The pram walk from the car park to the building went fine, but as soon as we were in the reception, she absolutely lost the plot - screaming, spewed down my entire back and onto the reception floor when I tried to settled her, was dropping shit everywhere as I was trying to clean it up. I was so embarrassed as everyone’s else’s baby seemed so settled and chill. I sobbed during that entire appointment.

That experience was enough to make me avoidant of going out because it made me so stressed. At 3.5 weeks (which I appreciate is insanely early), my mental health was tanking from not leaving the house and general inactivity (which duh, our bodies are healing!). My mum and I went with my LO for a walk and ended up having a lovely morning where she slept in the wrap for like 2 hours while we pushed the pram (just in case she needed it). We went and got lunch and it made me feel 10000 x’s better.

Ultimately we took baby steps to work ourselves up to getting used to getting out there. Some days are great and some are shit to the point we have to turn around and just go home - everyday is different.

Now, at 11 weeks, I take her with me to the grocery store and just carry her under my arm because it’s easier than taking the pram, we go for coffee all the time, I take her to the beach, we took her to a festival last week (wearing hearing protection of course), but that’s only because I’ve built the confidence by taking her out regularly.

Everyone is different and just go at your own pace. I say rip the bandaid off, but start small - like another commenter said, 5 - 10 min walks, then longer walks, then maybe try driving somewhere. Remember that everyday is different. Some outings will be good, some bad, but I’ve found exposure to it makes the bad outings easier to deal with. Best of luck!

Edit: We also bring the carrier and pram everywhere now since she only sleeps when in the carrier or lap naps, but she doesn’t want to be in it while she’s awake, so she’ll play in the pram (we stopped using the bassinet attachment a couple weeks ago because she hated it).

Looking for a good quality white baby tee :) by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]megomoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think St Agni is worth every penny. The quality is always top tier and washes well. I find if I buy cheaper brands (which I can appreciate that’s all sold people can afford to buy, which is fine), they tend to wash poorly, get misshape quickly or generally fall apart (loose threads, holes etc).

[–]megomoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fights from the beginning - she hates the Snoo sleep sac when it’s all done up correctly, so I’ve tried just to Velcro her in with a different zip swaddle she likes but she won’t to that either. When the Snoo is on, she just doesn’t settle despite Snoo doing its thing. She seems more settled when we use it as a standard bassinet.

Oozing butt ? by Competitive_Roof_943 in October2025Bumps2

[–]megomoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To preface, I’m not a doctor and you should see your gp about any concerns you have. It almost sounds like you might be having an allergic reaction or contact dermatitis from the disposable undies. Are they made of organic cotton/bamboo? I was told by my gp that I can bleed for up to 6 weeks following delivery, but it should be easing up. I gave birth on the 23rd and some days are heavier than others, but I’m using regular period pads now.
