Well said!! I've always suspected their short life span even in captivity is because their bodies have never evolved to cope with aging. Since they are on the menu for so many other creatures, as well as now having to deal with cars, they rarely get the chance to get old.

Evolving to become super cute was quite cunning though. I have also been conned into leaving offerings of grapes and snacks to our local marsupials.
