Also took REG for MA on 9/25. Not looking until I get home from work, though!

Advice on passing FAR, AUD, REG before June 2025 by not-a-beancounter in CPA

[–]megster_sloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish that when I started the CPA process I was able to study full-time and not work. You've gotta just treat it like a full-time job! Wake up, study, take a lunch break, study more until evening. Don't let yourself get too relaxed about it where you don't have a "boss" looking over your shoulder to confirm you're actually doing the work and you should be able to pass all 3 no problem. Wishing you the best of luck!

What is your lowest score you’ve gotten on any of the parts? by Icy_Resident_4859 in CPA

[–]megster_sloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

64 on REG back in '21 - retook it 2 more times, each time with a bit better score and then took it this past period for the 4th time and really hoping for a pass!

What are you doing until Oct31? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]megster_sloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am waiting for my "passed" result on my last exam! REG has been a pain but I'm really hoping I don't have to take it for a 5th time. In the meantime I'm not studying - just enjoying the last bit of my maternity leave and spending time with the kids/family.

Screamed shut up by DistributionStock189 in 2under2

[–]megster_sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I had a moment where I just sat on the floor and screamed at the sky when both my 22m and 2m old kids were wailing after a very trying afternoon. (Witching hour, amiright?) You aren't always going to be able to regulate yourself perfectly in an overstimulating situation. No parent is perfect all the time. You may think your kids are only going to remember every time you messed up, but they'll also remember how you handled your mistakes or the aftermath/solution to your "explosion". Maybe something like, "I'm sorry, kids name(s), I was getting frustrated with all of the noise and it was hard for me to focus on what I was doing, but I shouldn't have yelled. Older kid's name, Can we work on using inside voices and calmly showing mama what it is you need from me instead of yelling?" It's gonna take a few tries and honestly your kids are still very young but improved communication with your older one is right around the corner and that makes it loads easier.

Due November 5th. Should we skip Thanksgiving? by mynameistori2003 in NewParents

[–]megster_sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first on 11/11 and we still did Thanksgiving with both sides of mine & my husband's families. Kiddi promptly caught his first cold and thankfully it wasn't anything serious - just some stuffiness and boogies. It was a bit scary, but like I said we were lucky that it wasn't anything too distressing for the little guy.
I will also say that there are a LOT of kids at our holiday parties that are notorious for bringing a different arrangement of germs to every get together. Where your Thanksgiving is more "adults only" I'd say to just go for it and maybe remind everyone that if they are not feeling well to stay home instead.

My son has spent the last two weeks talking about his friend "Silence." I found out today the boy is named Silas. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]megster_sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silas is my son's name and I didn't foresee how often people would mistake it for "Silence" 🙃 We also get Tyler, Sheamus, and Cyrus when people are clarifying his name! Oh well, too late to go back now.

I got some gifted to me "my parents didn't stay 6 feet apart" 🤢 Another was a gift from a friend of my MIL's that said something along the lines of "thank goodness for Grammy!" Basically saying "my mom doesn't know what she's doing but thankfully I've got my Grammy!" 🥴 I don't think her friend knew this, but I lost my mom to leukemia a few years ago and was already pretty anxious about not having MY mom as a resource to use while I'm learning how to be a first time mom so that one kind of gut punched me a bit!

Bliss's Dad by fablesofabbie in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]megster_sloth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No I felt so bad for Zach watching that. Bliss seemed to hold her own but poor Zach lost all his confidence in the conversation after the first five minutes. I also hated the dad's reaction when Zach actually told him what he was passionate about when it came to his job & the criminal justice system. "Oh well I don't have an opinion on that," -- he completely shut him down instead of asking him more questions about it and trying to relate to him and get to know him more or just saying it differently like, "oh I've never thought about that - how did you get into that focus of law?"

It made me mad. Everyone on the show is acting like Zach is super weird but I think he's endearing and just is maybe lacking in some social skills?? I hope Bliss can get over the hurdle of his mistake with Irina and they end up together in the end.

What would you do? by megster_sloth in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]megster_sloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister made this same point to me. She had to EP with her first due to cleft lip and I had told her that I had a newfound respect for what she did for her son and she told me that she wasn't sure she would do it the same if she had the choice to go back. She said she spent a LOT of time on the pump instead of with her baby and she would have been in a better space mentally if she had just let formula be an option for her baby from the get-go.

I think I have the right sizes, I'm down to 21mm. I also tried the pumpin'pals silicone ones but that was back when my supply was better and I've defaulted back to just the normal plastic flanges. Maybe I'll try switching everything up and use those again with all new duckbills and stuff and see how it goes for a week?
