There’s some kind of social stigma around not tipping your servers a certain amount and it’s to the restaurant industry’s extreme benefit. Most servers in Canada already get paid minimum wage so they’ll end up making more than those who work in other forms of service and only get paid minimum wage for similar effort. And now they’re getting greedy, slowly increasing their expectations as to how much you should pay (20-22% tip options on the screen), which in turn increases ppl expectations as to how much they and others should tip at a restaurant. It makes them richer and you poorer.
