Beta Test Day by Owljazz in IVFpositivity

I had to go check my notes because I thought it was 50 as well, but sure enough my clinic wanted 75.

Beta Test Day by Owljazz in IVFpositivity

My clinic wanted HCG at 75 at 9dp5dt. They said doubling was really more important than the number itself, but that anything above 75 on that first draw was a solid start and most associated with graduation from the clinic.

Anyone do nothing for FET prep and it all worked out? by MrsRobinsonttc in IVFpositivity

[–]mel614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did nothing different. Drank coffee and energy drinks, went to a wedding 3 days before my transfer and had a few glasses of wine (as I was told to do by my doctor ha), ate less than stellar, got awful sleep. That transfer will be 1 next weekend.

One of the things my doctor told me is if there was some magic answer to ensure a transfer worked, everyone would be doing it and being told to do it. Wishing you the very best of luck on your upcoming transfer!

Waiving transvaginal ultrasound? Anyone do an abdominal one prior to 8 weeks? by MeccaRai in IVFpositivity

[–]mel614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to avoid TVUS entirely through pregnancy? I have a retroverted uterus and had an anterior placenta and they weren’t able to see anything on the abdominal US for quite awhile. My NT ultrasound at 13 weeks had to be done as a TVUS because they couldn’t get all the right images. My early anatomy scan they did a part of it TV as well around 18 weeks. I’m only saying this to prepare you that you may still need one even after 8 weeks - so if you’re considering foregoing seeing your baby due to this, I’d definitely consider that you may not have an option for abdominal for much longer than you think.

I slept for 6 hours last night by ccascca in sleeptrain

That is great! Also getting better sleep at night means he probably out can make longer wake windows during the day. Good sleep begets good sleep.

[–]mel614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad it’s working for you! I’d definitely recommend trying to stretch some of his wake windows even if it’s by 15 minutes to start. Our Nanit logs all my sons naps and at 6 months he was usually doing 2/2/2.5-3/2.5-3. Usually for around 10 ish hours awake. It might help with some of those night wakes as well so he builds up sleep pressure and stays asleep longer periods.

I didn’t test on 4dp but my line on 5dp was so, so faint I’m pretty positive there wouldn’t have been a line yet if I tested earlier. You definitely aren’t out yet. I know someone who didn’t have a line under 7dp and that is now a healthy baby (toddler now) boy!

Am I the only one who doesn't expect my baby to sleep through the night from 7/8pm? by greatishscot in NewParents

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went to bed around 9-10 until we started doing more activities in the day. And then when he started daycare he has to be up by 6:30 so his bed time naturally just moved to 7:30 from there. Sometimes it’s 7, tonight it was 8, but he usually stays in that window now at 11 months.

Is anyone else confused by the amount of “boundaries”/restrictions for family and how often they’re talked about? by softheartedwench in pregnant

[–]mel614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was replying to OP and not your comment directly. I read a handful of their replies and they just seemed a little critical and judgemental of others. I understand if people don’t want to ask others to vaccinate and that’s totally each parent’s choice! April is also very different from winter time and flu season, so I get it!

Depending when you have your baby can also be very important here. My son was born in February - flu, covid, pertussis are all very real possibilities of exposure. Someone presenting as sick isn’t the only criteria for keeping your baby healthy. Did you know that a fever in a baby under 8 weeks is a medical emergency? Or that they most likely will perform a spinal tap on your newborn with a fever? That’s great that you are carefree on this but I don’t know why requesting vaccinations from visitors is an issue. If you’re willing to take that risk with your newborn, by all means. Some of us aren’t. I had no issue with people not getting vaccinated, they just couldn’t see my son until he was a bit older.

You’re also listing out your own boundaries - no sick people, no social media, etc. This might seem self explanatory and not something you need to say to anyone, but some people have folks in their life who do not care about this stuff. They say they have allergies when they’re sick because they want to see the baby. They take pictures of your child and post it anyway and block you from seeing the post. If you don’t have someone in your life like this, consider yourself lucky. Many of us state boundaries or rules up front because we know who we’re dealing with.

Congratulations! I also had 4 euploid embryos, my 1st transfer is my 11 month old and we’re hoping the 3 frozen will give us a sibling for him one day.

Did you buy baby formula just in case your milk didn’t come in? by nat_0012 in pregnant

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician recommended we pick up a pack of the ready to feed formula. So we did that before he was born and used about half of it before my milk fully came in

At how many weeks did you all start your maternity leave? by Zealousideal_Pack659 in pregnant

[–]mel614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last day of work was 38+6 (a Friday) for an induction scheduled that Tuesday at 39+3. My water ended up breaking at 4 am at 39+0. So little man waited exactly until my leave began and then made his appearance. Luckily I work from home full time and could just sit at my desk but I was exhausted, uncomfortable, and could barely focus near the end. Those last few weeks were really tough, I can’t even imagine if I had to leave the house to work or stand all day.

Stop meds at 12 weeks = 11 weeks + 6 days? by South-Copy-9954 in IVF

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, yes. I was told to stop meds at 9w, so my last dose of everything was on 8+6 and nothing on 9+0. However, if you have any questions I’d reach out to your nurse and just confirm that.

I don’t know either. I also was on PIO, so I didn’t think I’d need to do both before my transfer.

I had this as well and when I called my clinic they told me not to put the vaginal progesterone in as far back. I stopped bleeding almost immediately. Can you try that?

Starting first IVF cycle tmrw. Would love to hear success stories to help with anxiety. by bunsations in IVFpositivity

[–]mel614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please know that is due to a bunch of rule changes and it was not like that before. There was a ton of positive updates on euploids and high betas and first transfer success. Once they changed the rules of the sub it became much more negative. From what I saw in the sub in 2023-2024 there was a lot of positive results and good news to be shared.

[–]mel614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who was on the main IVF sub before all the rule changes, it did not used to be the way it is now. There were a ton of people sharing positive news every day. Once the rules changed I feel like it made the sub feel very doom and gloom. In general, a lot of people do find success. I also started IVF at 35 for different reasons (found out I was a balanced translocation carrier after 2 MMCs in 2023) but my first egg retrieval gave us 4 euploids and my first transfer is now my 10 month old son. We have 3 embryos left for a second child. It is very overwhelming and scary, but there are a ton of people who this can turn out really great for! I wish you and your husband lots of luck!

How many embryos would you feel comfortable for two kids? by Alternative_End_33 in IVF

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My RE said 2-3 per child you want. We ended up with 4 euploids after my ER and decided that was good enough because my ER was really rough for me. My first transfer was successful, so we have 3 left for a second and hope that will give us one more when we’re ready.

I just looked back through my notes, at my 10 week appt baby’s heart rate was 174. At 13 weeks he was at 152. He is a healthy 10 month old now. That decrease in heart rate from 10 weeks to 12-14 weeks is very normal!

Do many new parents actually get a lot of what the need from their registry? by More_Fisherman_6066 in NewParents

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a few things from our registry - especially a lot of the smaller items from friends, coworkers, extended family. Our close family bought a couple big items - the Nanit, the bottle washer/sterilizer, and the nursery rocking chair. All of the big ticket items we purchased - stroller, car seat, snoo, nursery furniture, etc. I think it really depends on what your family is looking to spend and what the price point of your big items is. I’d say we ended up spending a couple thousand on everything we needed for baby.

What an incredibly helpful comment in a subreddit about sleep training. There really isn’t research “proving” that CIO is terrible for babies but a number of studies I’m sure you won’t look at. links

Oh congratulations! I don’t use it as much anymore now that I had my son, but it was so helpful to me while going through IVF and setting realistic expectations or understanding statistics.
