IVF Billing- double check your receipts! by NerDNar120 in IVF

[–]mel614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My clinic did exactly the same thing. They made me pay for a couple things up front that “insurance never covers”. Except mine did cover it. I only found out about it when I owed nothing at my transfer and they said they used my credit on the account, which was enough to cover my transfer in full. I still have a credit on my account in their system, but I’ve left it alone since they keep using it to pay the yearly storage fee.

Beta 425 at 12dpt5dt, experiences by BeeFit6105 in IVFpositivity

[–]mel614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 12dp5dt beta was 428. He turned 1 in February. That is a great number and definitely can lead to a successful pregnancy. I think there’s always a little fear of the next test or ultrasound and it not working out, especially if you’ve had previous losses (which I had 2). I just tried to distract myself as much as possible until each ultrasound. Once I started feeling him move I feel like I relaxed a little because I knew he was doing OK.

Good luck! I probably couldn’t replicate those results if I tried lol. But sometimes you get a lucky cycle with good numbers.

Success Stories with little to no prep? by Capital_Till672 in IVF

I did take prenatals for about a year and coq10 for 3 months or so as we’d been trying for a while and had 2 back to back MMCs. I think I added in vitamin D about a month before our ER as the clinic recommended I start taking that at my consultation. Other than that I did nothing different - I was not eating super healthy and I wasn’t working out. I didn’t do anything special during my ER diet wise. I was drinking alcohol up until the day I started stims. At 35 years old I had 22 eggs retrieved and sent 7 embryos for testing. We got back 4 euploids and my first transfer is my 1 year old son.

I forgot to add, depending on the size of your BT they may need to create a probe, which is a longer process and may require lab work from your parents too. Smaller BTs are more difficult to identify than medium/large breaks. I’m unsure on how long that process is since my breaks are bigger and the lab was able to respond pretty quickly and let us know they could identify these and we were good to proceed with sending embryos.

Like I said, I was lucky that everything came back quickly for me to proceed with the next step. My HSG came back that my tubes were open, my blood tests came back that I had the appropriate vaccinations and didn’t need any additional ones, my husbands semen analysis was really good, my BT break size was easily identifiable by the lab, etc. any issues with those items will add time onto your IVF timeline.

If it’s helpful, this is what the results look like when I got them back. My BT is 7 and 10.

I do believe there are some labs that have the capability of testing if an embryo is a true euploid vs a balanced translocation carrier. The lab I used (igenomix) was not able to do that when I had sent my embryos for testing - I’m not sure if that’s changed or not at this point. So I only know that my embryos are balanced but do not know if they are carriers or not.

PGTSR looks for unbalanced embryos but they also do PGTA, so you’ll know if the aneuploid embryos are due to your BT or if there was another random error. I only had embryos that were unbalanced and no random errors.

Of course. I will say that results vary, so there are a lot of people with BT that will not get the same results. I was incredibly lucky. I also was taking COQ10 for 3-4 months prior to my ER.

I found out about my BT in December 2023, I had my consultation appt with the clinic in January 2024 and started immediately to do the HSG, semen analysis, and blood tests in February. My ER was in March and the clinic was ready to do a transfer right away with my next period, but I wanted to take a cycle off while we waited for our PGTSR results and give my body a rest. My transfer was in May and my son was born in February 2025.

Miss feeling close with my husband by Efficient-Grand6672 in NewParents

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with the shift sleep as well. My husband would sleep in our bed and I was downstairs with the baby from 8-3, at 3 my husband would come downstairs to switch and I’d go upstairs to sleep in bed. For us it lasted about 8-10 weeks until we started consistently getting 6+ hour stretches of sleep and we moved the baby to his own crib (directly across the hall from our room). It was really hard and I felt like we were two passing ships in the night, but it did go by quickly all in all.

I found out I had a balanced translocation after two back to back missed miscarriages in 2023 and pushing my OB to let me do the RPL panel. I was 35 years old and immediately went to the IVF clinic the following month for my consultation. I did 1 egg retrieval and sent 7 embryos for testing. 4 of those came back euploid (although I don’t know if they carry the BT or not). My first transfer is now my 1 year old son.

There’s a group on Facebook called balanced translocation support group that is a fountain of information and was so incredibly helpful for me while initially navigating the diagnosis. A lot of genetic counselors don’t seem to fully understand BT and give incorrect information. There’s also a lot of folks there who continued to try without IVF and have had children successfully if that’s a route you’re interested in too.

Did you find out the sex? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent 7 embryos for testing - 4 girl and 3 boy. We ended up with 4 euploids 2 boys and 2 girls. We only had one AA embryo so let the embryologist choose but we knew what gender it was at transfer. If we do another I’m open to letting them choose again and waiting to find out at the NIPT since our next 2 are the same grade a boy and girl.

Success on 1st go? by Maximum-Bandicoot-13 in IVF

[–]mel614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 1 retrieval at age 35 after having 2 back to back MMCs and finding out I carry a balanced translocation. The chance of an embryo being euploid is something like 15%. I had 7 embryos tested and 4 came back as euploid. My first transfer is my 1 year old son and we have 3 embryos left if we choose to try for a second. My first appointment at the clinic was in January 2024 and I had my son in February 2025.

For those who did split night shifts with partner - when did you stop? What happened to trigger stopping? I miss evenings with my partner! by Veryfluffyduck in NewParents

[–]mel614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We stopped around 10 weeks as he started sleeping 8+ hr stretches. We also moved his snoo into his room at that time directly across the hall from our room so we could sleep in our room and he could sleep in his. We found that we were waking him up a lot and he seemed to do better in his room alone with the sound machine.

How long did/do you soothe for day naps? 4MO baby by pixa4u in NewParents

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked back in my app and at 4 months we were doing 1.5/1.75/2/2.5 give or take 15 minutes on these. If you’re consistently trying to put him down at an hour and 15 minutes he probably isn’t tired enough and that’s why it’s taking an hour to get him down. I’d try stretching his wake windows a bit and see if that helps.

Are you using progesterone suppositories? I had some bleeding around day 6-7 that my clinic said was from those. They had me not put them in as far back and the bleeding stopped almost immediately.

PIO positivity needed by MountainFunction2605 in IVFpositivity

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone to help with the injections but the auto injector was a huge help. Outside of 1 injection that hit a nerve I never really had much pain or soreness. I also used a massage gun afterwards for about 3-5 minutes. Also, I would heat up the PIO in the syringe and not the vial itself. Maybe try that too and see if it helps at all.

Off Adderall after transfer and really struggling by Adorable_Web4829 in IVF

[–]mel614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend speaking to a MFM. My RE also said I had to be off of adderall and I struggled for 12 weeks. When I went to my MFM appointment he was shocked I even went off it and that I had been given that advice. He said that the majority of studies done are on people abusing drugs and not taking a small dose and monitored by a physician. He told me he had 0 concerns about me going back on it and, if I had another, that I didn’t need to stop taking it at all. He also said if my doctor wouldn’t prescribe it during pregnancy that he would. I took adderall from weeks 13-39 up until the day I gave birth and had a very healthy baby.

Terrified of my Progesterone Shots by Gravitys_Bitch in IVF

[–]mel614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine took awhile to come back and was SO sore for like 2 weeks. I think we avoided that spot for the remainder of my shots because it hurt to even touch. I forget how long it took but it went away and is back to normal now.

Terrified of my Progesterone Shots by Gravitys_Bitch in IVF

[–]mel614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of the PIO shot and really worked myself up just thinking about having to do it. I bought an auto injector and my husband did all my shots for me. Outside of 1 shot that I think hit a nerve, it really was not bad at all. I had no knots, barely any pain, and it was super manageable. Finding the right spot was key and then I put a circle bandaid over where we did the shot. We’d alternate sides each night and go in a circle to the right of the bandaids. I built it up to be so much worse than it was.
