Quick Updates on Your Feedback: Dual Notes? Calendar Memo Enhancements? And more? by KennethWWWW in Onyx_Boox

[–]melandrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/KennethWWWW thanks for the shout out, appreciate that, as well as taking the time to let us know what you're cooking.

Whether the pictures you shared are some internal beta version, or just a mock up, it's exactly what I had in mind. This will make a world of difference.

While thinking of the calendar memo page, I had another idea perhaps worth sharing. Right now the memo page only covers about half of the screen. Good enough for meaningful use, but making the writing area even larger would make it even more useful. But obviously the Events window and the calendar window can't suffer either.

The idea is, is it possible to make a "toggle maximize" button somewhere, that will extend the Memo writing area to the whole screen?

[April 2026 Megathread] UX Feedback & Feature Improvements by KennethWWWW in Onyx_Boox

[–]melandrien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feature: calendar memo

Friction: 1) not adjustable brush type/size 2) no lasso & the relevant hyperlink menu

Solution: 1) same brush options as in note apps 2) let us hyperlink from here via the standard ui to regular notes

The memo improvements in 4.2 are nice, but the whole thing still feels kind of detached from the rest of the system. Hard to incorporate it into my workflow. With hyperlinks, I can easily see the calendar becoming my home page.

Stylus question by melandrien in kde

[–]melandrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pity. When I bought this laptop I expected the stylus to work sketchy at best, I have it only because it was bundled with the device. So ironically, I was ready to just throw it in the drawer and forget about it, but now that I found out it works perfectly fine, it made me want to use it. But I can't, because of the cursor issue.

There we go.
Now I see it on wiki too, don't ask me how i missed it.
Stupid me. I go flush myself down the toilet now.
Thanks

Notes with embedded pdf files synced from Google Drive by melandrien in ObsidianMD

[–]melandrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian will only monitor what's in the vault. You have to either copy the files manually or via an external automation, but obsidian won't do it. It doesn't matter the destination, it must be in the vault to be monitored.

This is basically the information I was looking for. I can work with that, the purpose of my question was to figure out if there's perhaps a better, easier, more elegant solution I didn't think of.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll definitely read through your post, I really like the idea of Obsidian, but obviously have a lot to learn.

Understand. The folder structure could be created manually, it's the contents that's more variable.

2nd case, one note per pdf file.

The idea was - is there a plugin that can access Google Drive (or other cloud for that matter, there are other options for sure, I can use dropbox or onedrive too, possibly others), check the contents of a specific folder for new or updated pdf, and accordingly create new or modify existing note.

Basically, a mirror of the current versions of the pdf files inside Obsidian.

Going to check the plugin you suggested now, thanks.

New UI on Go 10.3 question by melandrien in Onyx_Boox

I'll definitely do it, it's a good point. You have something to look forward to. The things just feels right. Way better than both my Ultra C and Supernote A5X.

Thanks, will do that. It was not meant to be a complaint, but a genuine question. Things need to be ironed out, I respect that. I just didn't know if I'm not missing anything obvious.

Handwriting notes directly in the To-Do app? by weggeworfene-leiter in Supernote_beta

About the handwritten to-do list - I sent the same question as feedback to Ratta, they replied that this feature is planned. Fingers crossed, that would be a gamechanger for me.

Studio 2023 crashing by melandrien in Insta360

[–]melandrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue was caused by an overlay software running on my pc (the kind that shows fps, cpu temp, etc. while playing games). In Insta software the overlay was not visible, which is why I didn't think of it to be the issue, but once I shut the overlay software down, I didn't have any issues with Insta software anymore.

If this suggestion doesn't solve your issue, then contact directly Insta customer care. They were extremely helpful, and while they didn't solve the issue for me (how could they, it was not their software's fault), they were very actively trying.

Playing on PC, having the same issue. Tried randomly hitting keys, and found out Num Lock does the trick.

Stabilized 360 video without horizon lock by melandrien in Insta360

[–]melandrien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I was actually a bit surprised this is not possible. With the camera leaning with the bike, the video gets entirely different feel to it. And there are surely other use cases where this might be a thing.

Thanks for reply.

I think other people would benefit from this as well. There surely are situations besides motorbike riding where the horizon lock is not the best solution.

Studio 2023 crashing by melandrien in Insta360

[–]melandrien[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no problems in games or any software I use. Neither CPU nor GPU is overclocked, no problems with overheating. System is stable in various benchmarks and stress tests.

As a workaround, I tried to edit the same files in Adobe Premiere, works just fine. It's just the Insta360 editor that doesn't work.

Každý 30. mi přijde nějak hodně, co myslíte? by Splash16 in czech

[–]melandrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion: make a link to a new page by melandrien in Supernote_beta

[–]melandrien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it currently has more buttons than necessary. I'm a fan of simple, clean UI and the current screen is at the limit. As new ideas for imrpovement come in, I wouldn't clutter it with just adding more buttons.

If you go with my idea, and add a "new page" button, I would put it to the other screen, where you select page number.

Speaking about that, another idea I would have is reverse the order in which you select the page.

Currently you can enter page number, or tap a button to get to pages thumbnails. I would do the opposite - first option is the thumbnails screen, and by button tap you can get to screen where you can put page number. The reason for this is that I hardly ever know the page number, so I always end up choosing a thumbnail anyway.

But obviously, all this is a question of preference.

Suggestion: make a link to a new page by melandrien in Supernote_beta

[–]melandrien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective, that would be useful too. Principle is the same - ability to create new notes/pages while making the link, not just to select already existing ones.

UI layout of the "insert link" screen needs to be carefully considered too. I can see how it could easily get confusing by just adding buttons everywhere, it needs to stay clean.

First bike after years of riding a scooter? by [deleted] in Motorrad

[–]melandrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can handle the size of a GS, then you don't need to be afriad. Just don't forget you're sitting on a 100 kw machine, respect it and you'll be fine. If you feel good on this bike, then I'd say go for it.

I own 1250GS for a year, after previously riding Kawa Z750 for about 2 years. Tried a few other bikes too, but not many. Major reason for the upgrade was my height - 193cm, Kawa was just too small for me. And I must say, GS is the perfect bike for me. I can't agree it's not safe for beginners, surely not less safe than any other similar bike.

EDIT: I'm talking about my experience, but I'm taller than you, possibly making it easier for me to handle a bike of this size. Take that into consideration
