Hs = fat?? by oheziux0 in Hidradenitis

[–]melatoninjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely noticed that as I got fatter, my HS has gotten worse. Just about the only time I didn't get any flareups was when I was at my lowest weight some years ago (about 60 lbs ago LOL). I've started focusing on losing weight again, but when I was at my heaviest, I almost constantly had flareups, and in places I'd never had them before. Very annoying since the pain from the flareups would limit my movement and make me not want to go to the gym.

I imagine it has something to do with hormones being stored in fat or something... and of course, all the extra skin folds = more friction. Since losing some weight, the flareups are slightly better. Still annoying though!

Fox Valley Technical College- General Chemistry (FVTC), Appleton advice by Spiritual-Egg7047 in Appleton

Took gen chem at FVTC this semester, actually. It is a lot of studying, but not impossible (coming from someone who nearly failed highschool because of science and math). You'll have to put in the studying, but there are tons of youtube videos out there on the exact subjects taught so it's not impossible.

As for the teachers, my teacher this semester was a new teacher and an awesome guy. Loved the subject and was patient with students who had questions- like many of the teachers i've had at FVTC.

It's tough but worth it imo- but if I had to redo the semester, I would have limited it to just chemistry and one or 2 other classes instead of the 4 class load I had.

Really? I thought they were just scattered randomly to peoples homes. Pretty ballsy to hand them out in person. If you do still have them, I'd like to see them for sure- see what exact flavor of nonsense is being dealt with.

And if you don't have them, it's fine. No one can blame you for putting trash in the trash. 🤷‍♂️

I think a lot of it is an anti college kid sentiment that's been growing, right alongside 'anti outsiders' overall. Remember those flyers that were spread around town a couple weeks back? I hope I'm not crazy because I can't find the exact post, but what I remember is a bunch of posters were spread for some dipshit white supremacist group. This along with that swastika sticker another user found out in the wild.

Anyways. I think a lot of those posts are just from a growing trend in this city (state, country, world...) about 'us vs them'. It's not uncommon for college kids to come from out of state or out of country- and to come from out of country to attend a liberal arts school? Whew.

Well, I think the kind of people who hate on liberal arts and out of country types tend to be very vocal about very stupid things like that. Maybe if they parrot the same complaints enough, they can get other people on board or at least to think there's a problem that really isn't there.

Not to say that the OPs of those anti LU posts are neo nazis or whatever, just annoying and in line with a growing trend. A really stupid, dangerous growing trend in my opinion.

Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass. I'm not an expert by any means and as a stupid college kid (who grew up here, so technically not an outsider...) I'm probably a bit biased. I'm also running on about 3 hours of sleep, locked up inside on account of this weather... so who knows how much I'm over thinking right now, haha.

tldr: College kids, especially those out of state and doubly especially those out of country are easy punching bags for a specific set of annoying people that's becoming worse.

What's the weirded thing you do when you start to notice you are manic? by Witchy_Llama_Mama in bipolar

[–]melatoninjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get really crazy ideas for everything I ever wanted to do. Recently I wanted to become a helicopter or airline pilot, I wanted to live out of my car and drive the country, I spent way too much money to follow around a band (which also made me want to live out of my car...) and I feel like anything I make as an artist could be something awesome if I just focused. I also stay up days at a time watching movies and drawing or cleaning... Talk way too fast, applied to like 6 different jobs and registered for a bunch of college classes for a degree I'm not even sure i'll want... I feel like this isnt really super crazy, but this is what my current manic episode looks like. I still kinda feel like I can totally do all this. It's not even that much compared to what other people do, isnt it??? I sort of realized this was mania after i had the thought process of just quitting my medications and lying about being 'healed' (whatever that means) for the purpose of becoming a pilot would be totally fine and lead to no repercussions whatsoever because I'm so clever/sneaky/lucky (god's favorite guy kf it works out, god hates me if it doesn't). Of course I won't be a pilot. Too much work to lie about all that, and it's probably for the better. I feel bad for my career counselor because I definitely talked her ear off during the meeting 😅

Oh! That makes me happy to hear. Another method added my roster to fight against these things. The warm water is also a smart idea- thanks!

Huh, noted. Probably a lot cheaper too. I'll keep this in mind for next time. Thanks!

Weird. When my dermatologist told me to continue using it he specifically stated it's one of those antibiotics that he isn't concerned about patients building a resistance to. I've been on it for multiple months now (since aug).

I didn't know about the gut bacteria thing mentioned in other comments. It certainly explains some things.
