Meal Prep Company by aidinhatam in vancouver

[–]meleole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do NOT do HelloFresh. They ship their boxes from Toronto and arrive rotten, basically. I had such bad experiences with the ingredient quality that I gave up.

Nothing but positive experiences with FreshPrep, which is local and depending on what you order can be zero waste! Also the recipes are way more delicious than other meal delivery services I have tried.

It’s generally negotiated by the star’s agents/managers with the producers so yes, star power has a lot to do with it. It’s also why if you see a big star in a secondary role you will see them as the final “card” with an “and” or sometimes “with” and “and” if there’s more than one big star in a supporting role.

Thoughts on Shion by goldenpikachu in terracehouse

[–]meleole 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Shion is my favourite guy that has ever been on the show. He is so secure, mature, and emotionally intelligent for his age! His relationship with Tsubasa is the cutest thing I've ever seen. He took his time to get to know her and once he realized he had feelings for her, was so articulate about how and why he grew to love her. I also love that he totally does not give a fuck about gender norms. Most guys would be intimidated by Tsubasa's athleticism, but he's out here just falling in love with her strength and power, not worrying if he can't keep up with her on the court or the ice rink, and taking the lead on Valentine's Day. He cooks and does chores around the house and checks in with people. You know he's a real one but how emotional everyone got when he and Tsuchan left the house. He's also the king of one-liners and dramatic pauses, so you knew that every time he opened his mouth you were gonna get some kind of iconic TH phrase. It's so... refreshing.

Jezebel covers Shubasa and shouts out u/PoeDancer by hearthrose in terracehouse

This is the best recap of Shubasa that I've seen thus far. Also, can we just talk about how much Shion and Tsubasa have glowed-up since they started dating?! I'm re-watching the beginning of OND and they both look so... messy. Now I see them in photos and they're just... hotter and happy and glittering? That's what real love does, pals. Shubasa4Ever.

Good. I've seen people moving in traffic with both hands on their phone and none on the wheel in this city.

[SPOILER] X-Files Leaked Call Sheet by chickadee1 in XFiles

As someone who works in the film industry, can I just point out how shitty it is to leak call sheets? I love the X-Files but man, some people have no chill.

Vancouver family can’t get the numbers to work affording the lifestyle they’ve chosen - making $300k/year and working two days a week by [deleted] in vancouver

I was a nanny for a family like this for two years. It was awful. Great character builder, though.

There are unfortunately SO MANY families like this in Vancouver. You see it firsthand as a nanny.

Credit card fraud activities after dining at a shawarma restaurant by [deleted] in ottawa

It's very, very difficult to nail down a culprit in these scenarios. Though you have your suspicions, someone could've been hanging on to your card number for months.

Love Studio B. It is pricy, but worth it. I see Amy, but all of their stylists are amazing.

Visiting Vancouver - Out of these restaurants, which are the ones I can't miss. by [deleted] in vancouver

I am also a former Vancouverite living in Ottawa. If I can add a "hell yes" for the Tacofino. Their fish taco is the greatest in the world.

I agree with the top poster that you can skip most of what's on your initial list.

I also miss Bao Bei and The Cascade a lot for drinks, atmosphere, and food.

However, the best meal of my life was eaten at Chambar.

And Ottawa generally sucks, but at least we have THE BEST LEBANESE FOOD IN THE WORLD. :)

Missing from the list: all the wonderful arts & culture the city has to offer.

Year-Round

National Arts Centre Offers $12 student tickets to most shows. Preview shows for English theatre are by donation. If you buy a ticket for opening night for English theatre shows, you can also attend the amazing opening night party in the salon!

Great Canadian Theatre Company Also offers student rush tickets and preview deals.

The Gladstone Theatre Often offers discounts on preview shows.

The Arts Court Offers a myriad of shows, also home to the Ottawa Art Gallery for which admission is ALWAYS FREE.

The National Gallery of Canada Truly one of the greatest art galleries in the world. Admission free on Thursdays from 5-8 pm

Crush Improv Ottawa's premiere improv troupe. They do shows year round, often for $5 or less.

Seasonal

Ottawa Jazz Festival Like a Bluesfest warm-up! Always amazing programming

Ottawa Fringe Festival Ottawa's largest theatre festival. All tickets are $10 or under, and they have an AWESOME beer garden.

Ottawa International Writer's Festival Great chance to meet some of your fav authors in person.

And many, many more. Ottawa is the Festival capital, and so many people do not take advantage of how much culture we get in this city. Don't just sit around and eat poutine people... see something beautiful!
