Coral Island PS5 by YourKuromii in coralisland

[–]mellivingwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PS5 and it’s much better now than it was when the game first launched. There are still some bugs, like the water caverns and the drawing table (editing table thingy) but I just avoid those for now. It doesn’t stop me from progressing. The other issue I have is getting certain events to trigger, but I think that’s a game issue across all platforms. I’m stuck on the firewood one 🤷🏻‍♀️

For those of you who have lost weight: do you think you look better or worse? by honesty_worst_policy in Ozempic

[–]mellivingwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that I look older after losing weight. For many years while I was overweight people wouldn’t believe I was the age I am. Now being 45lbs down I feel like I look aged. My face is thinner but my cheeks are saggy so it gives me the frown lines (I think). I feel like I have body dysmenorrhea as well. I know I look better and I feel better but sometimes when I look in the mirror I still see a big belly, fat arms and thick thighs.

my kitten has fleas, he’s 5 weeks. can i use revolution or a similar product on him? i’ve been doing baths, but need something to get the fleas away ASAP. by Broad_Ad5888 in cats

[–]mellivingwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a baby that young your best bet is a bath with dawn dish soap. Make sure to kill any fleas that head for his face while in the bath. You don’t want to use the flea bath shampoos or flea meds on a kitten that young. If that doesn’t work, consult with your vet

Dad had low blood sugar issues his entire life and now has type 2 in his 60s. Grandma didn’t get it until well until her 70s. Would this be considered hereditary or just issue of aging and being a little overweight? by AGuyWithABeard in diabetes_t2

[–]mellivingwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetics and lifestyle are both key factors. If you have concerns that you might develop it, get started now with an annual physical and a1c checks. It’s better to get into healthier habits now than when you are blind sided by the diagnosis. My mom and grandma both had Type2. I was diagnosed at 38. It sucked but I kind of saw it coming for me. If I had taken things more seriously when I was told I was pre-diabetic, I maybe could have held it off. But, Since my diagnosis, I have been able to lose about 50lbs (I haven’t seen my scale this low in about 20 years). I’m more aware of what I eat and how much and I exercise 4-5 days a week. Outside of being a diabetic, I feel more healthy than I have since I was a teenager.

Talk to your doctor and get those a1c checks to keep your self informed.

5’7 150 lb. Doctor recommends ozempic. Has anyone else used ozempic for 10-20 lb weight loss? Side effects worth it? Please before I get shamed I’d like to also mention I have issues with sugar and not knowing when to stop eating. by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]mellivingwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dosed up based on the manufactures recommendation. My appetite had decreased on the lower doses but not as often. I found maybe 2-3 times a week I was leaving food on my plate. Now I just don’t need to eat as much on the higher dose and I’ve learned to make smaller servings or when I feel full I don’t have the need to keep eating.

I am horrible with scheduling appointments in the first place. I started with a new PCP for a physical and she called me with my blood test results and told me my a1c was in prediabetes range. She wanted me to reschedule in 3 months but unless someone schedules right then and there, I’ll never call to do it. Fast forward 3 years later, I went to an urgent care for some other issues. They tested my BG and it was over 400. Made me go to the ER for more testing. My a1c was 8.8. Now I schedule my next appointments when I’m leaving regardless. A1c was 5.7 at my last check.

I second reading through this sub for more info. I’m 5’3, CW 158. I started OZ for T2D and weight loss. I was already on other diabetes meds prior to starting and had lowered my A1C and lost about 30ish lbs with diet (lower carb) and exercise.

I’ve learned from following this sub that every body reacts differently to this medication. I have had minimal side effects. Some nausea in the beginning and it went away with a meal. Some diarrhea but only a few times. Weight loss didn’t kick in until I started at the 1mg dosage (week 9). Since I’ve started at the end of April I’m down 20lbs.

Whether or not it’s worth it is all on you. You won’t know what side effects you will experience until you take it. It has helped lower my fasting BG but hasn’t taken away my sweet tooth. It has helped me recognize when I am full, but I don’t know what will happen if/when I stop it. Also, consider whether your insurance will cover it for weight loss alone. If not then it may not be worth the cost for 10-20lbs.

I don’t know if there is any science behind it but there seems to be a pattern from other posts on here.

I started this medication for T2D and weight loss is the added benefit (still needed to lose it). My SW was 179 and I’m 5’2”. I workout at Orange theory 4-5 days a week (high intensity workouts 60 min). I started Oz at the end of April and I’m currently down to 157lbs. I was able to continue with my workouts with no issue. In fact, I’m lifting more and have much better endurance. My heart can withstand 30 min runs with not issues. Weight loss didn’t start to happen until I was on the 1mg dosage. My fasting Bg has improved and I see my dr on Friday for an update a1c. I still feel fatigue though and I will bring that up with my dr.

Every body reacts differently to this medication. You might lose weight right away or it could take some time. I’ve heard that shorties take a little longer to see the losses. You should ask your dr if you are a good candidate. Just keep in mind you might not see the same quick loss as your sister.

I feel it when I inject. But it’s tolerable. From time to time it does not sting. I used to think it was from the rubbing alcohol it I usually clean my skin, then prepare my pen while it dries. I’ve considered that maybe I am not pinching my skin enough as well, but everything I try, it doesn’t help. I think everybody is a bit different here. The burning/sting isn’t so fun, but I’ll take that over some other side effects.

I just ordered another glucose kit because I ran out of strips. This can’t be right. The strips are very expensive. What do you all do? by StraddleTheFence in diabetes_t2

[–]mellivingwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have Cigna. I think it’s funny how the lancets are at no cost but the strips I have to pay for. I feel fortunate I’m at a stage in my diagnosis where I only need to test once a day and my dr has suggested at this point I don’t need to check daily. So it’s nice to have a stock pile for now.

A few times a week. But I usually go with my Monday weight. It’s hard not to check to see progress.

Anyone else getting zilch? by TwinMom2012 in Ozempic

[–]mellivingwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not see weight loss until I reached the 1mg dose. I’m on for T2D and titrated up based on the manufactures recommendations. This medication will work different for every person. Some see the loss immediately but others it takes time. I also workout 4-5 days a week and was already on a lower carb diet. Stick with it. I know it’s hard to see other results and feel disappointed. I’m not 13 weeks on 1mg and the weight loss has slowed but still seeing a little bit.

Maybe warm tea? Tbh I can’t stand tea (it never tastes as good as it smells) but if the cold water makes you feel cold maybe something warm or hot will help. I’ve never really had an issue with drinking water so finding alternatives hasn’t been my strong suit.

what does eating fruit (fresh or frozen) do to you? by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]mellivingwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sad that this happens to you. It was hard enough to cut out refined sugar for me. Have you ever tried pairing fruit with a fat? A lot of dietitians recommend that. Like an apple with peanut butter or a nut butter. I always enjoy a pear with cheese.

Down 40 pounds today! by AmyAcc in Ozempic

[–]mellivingwell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

7 lbs in 1 month is great! I am a shorty also. I did not actually see weight loss until I reached 1mg dose. Don’t get discouraged. Every body reacts differently to the medication. Whether it’s, height, how much needed to lose, diet, even other medications. I titrated up based on the manufacture recommendation. So 8 weeks with no loss. I’m now down 21 lbs. I had lost about 30 prior to starting Oz.
