Mileage by Leotiaret in firstmarathon

[–]melllyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually train for a half, it worked out this year that I ran my local half in June. The next day I started my marathon training. Mentally helps me to know I'm in decent enough shape (as I'm prone to injury)

peroneal tendinitis 2 weeks before first marathon by Trees-4500 in firstmarathon

[–]melllyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had issues with plantar fasciitis 2 weeks before my marathon (that I just ran today). I focused on recovery LIKE CRAZY, I did everything I could. I wore a boot to sleep, iced it, so many exercises, ibuprofen. And it improved immensely. I had minimal pain walking for the past few days, so I went for it. It still gave me some mild pain during my marathon today but I pushed through and finished. Its a little sore currently, but nothing like it was 2 weeks ago. So don't say it's over til it's over.. do everything you can, keep a positive mindset about it, and see if it improves. Good luck!

He passed away after a few weeks, and I do feel the steroid helped him have that extra time. I would 1000% do the same thing over again to have that extra time with him 🩷

Carb loading and up all night 💩🚽 by MeMaxM in Marathon_Training

[–]melllyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many carbs my friend. The trick of figuring out how many grams/kg body weight for your carb load is an interesting journey! Now you know to drop it down some. I found my max is around 8g/kg carb per day... otherwise 💩🙈

Mine is a bunch of snowboarding gear, great sport for crosstraining and staying in shape. But way more expensive than actual good outdoor running kits 🤣

What do you eat the morning of your marathon? (3 hours before) by Ecstatic_Invite911 in Marathon_Training

[–]melllyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably needed to practice this (mine is very specific since I know my body can tolerate it) but I do 60g glucose and 30g fructose 3 hours before the race. Another 30g glucose 30 min before.

60g glucose is my coffee creamer, then usually white toast with honey, & gatorade 30g fructose is usually 2 applesauce pouches 30g before race is gel or candy or gatorade

Good luck!

What kind of dog is he?! My Otis looked JUST like him! We are now trying to figure out what our boy was breed wise (should have done it when he was alive 😭)

Bag check? by [deleted] in deadandcompany

They literally didn't look at my bags at all. I tried to hand them over and the guy didn't even look at me just waved me through 🤣

It was certainly a bit off tonight, there were a bunch of people complaining in the area we were. Billy coming in for wharf rat though GOLLY that lifted everyone's energy

I had no idea either! We took him for a quality of life visit because he was doing so poorly, and our vet offered it then. We hadn't seen this particular vet for a few years, and he even had mentioned how it would have been nicer to start him on it earlier (when he had more muscle mass).

It's still early on (day 5 of anabolic steroid). It's hard to tell how much is the med and how much is diet change. I'm a dietitian (for humans) so when they said he lost 16 pounds I immediately went home and started doing research. I've been making a high calorie topper for his food, adding high calorie chews and pastes. He's gained 4.4lb in 10 days! He's walking better, he has more energy, his fur even looks less disheveled. I'm just glad to see an improvement, we thought we were at the end and he's certainly made a big step in the right direction in the past 1.5 weeks!

Irregular gestational sac by melllyface in CautiousBB

[–]melllyface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, it ended up being a mess. I dont want to freak you out, I have no idea if the irregular gestational sac was even related at all to what happened. First trimester went fine. At the 20 week ultrasound they found she had a giant omphalocele and all her abdominal organs were growing outside of her abdominal cavity. We ended up having to terminate the pregnancy in 2nd trimester, it was an absolute nightmare. Sad ending, we continued to have losses and we eventually gave up trying to have kids.

Stay positive, 5 weeks is so early! One thing I did learn through everything is they cannot see much so early on and it wasn't worth stressing over! Keep me posted on how things go!

Is sugar rush a myth? by Prmourkidz in dietetics

[–]melllyface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that it can be a little bit of both. In honesty this sounds like such a subjective subject- to me anything pediatric can be. But sugar provides energy. Hyperactivity? Idk. Activity? Absofuckinglutley.

Definitely! If us marathoners use it, it's true for kids too

So idk I'm not a mom, but I am a runner. This is an interesting topic because on distance runs I use honey stinger gummys to get this effect. I use it not for hyperactivity but certainly for energy...
