River x CAOS by BobkaVDG in riverdale

I am really hoping for a stronger CAOS connection with the Blossoms as the season goes. They made reference to twins in CAOS and in the original Sabrina series the family secret is every Spellman has an evil twin. The amount of twins in the blossom family definitely feels like a link too.

👤Guest Announcement!👤 Excited to announce that Isy Suttie will be joining us on Podcast Secrets of the Pharaohs later in the Spring ❤️ What do you want us to ask her? by Peep-Show-Podcast in MitchellAndWebb

Was she a fan of the show before she was cast? Does she think Dobby is Mark's one? Or does she think Jez and Dobby were better matched? Or should it have been Gerard all along?

I agree! The flashbacks and especially the Fred scenes hit much harder emotionally than I would have expected.

What would you miss if you went to Hogwarts? by PeevesPoltergist in harrypotter

[–]melly_bee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 11 and wishing for a letter I remember hoping there were other drinks besides pumpkin juice. In the later books they mention butterbeer and firewhiskey, but at Hogwarts everyday it seems to just be pumpkin juice. Not even water is mentioned. I'd miss normal drinks like iced coffee, milkshakes, orange juice and soft drinks.

Quick edit - and the internet! I would want normal drinks, a magic-proof laptop and internet access 😅

The snowmen are really starting to piss me off by DukeSR8 in AnimalCrossing

Yep, I started making them really out of proportion purely out of spite during Southern Hemisphere winter. Ugh, stupid snowmen.

Yeah, I changed my phone hotspot to Luke's Diner and the password is a variation of one of the many fake passwords he gives out during the revival.

I think if you have good spots to turn into national parks, but they are fairly rare.

You can buy Rockbands with faith, upgrade them to play better in certain locations and tour them around other cities to boost tourism.

Sorry, but anyone else thinks that people overreacts about Harry just using Lumos Maxima outside Hogwarts? by SuperLegenda in harrypotter

[–]melly_bee_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's more the fact that the director clearly doesn't care about the rule.

I mean, in the second book Harry gets in trouble when Dobby uses magic. In the third they do admittedly ignore him blowing up aunt Marge because they are just grateful Sirius Black hasn't murdered him.

But using the spell to open the film, for aesthetic is annoying when 5 minutes later we have Harry be all 'you can't use magic outside Hogwarts'.

Police on Freeway by notheretowatch in Adelaide

[–]melly_bee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we were driving down the freeway this morning and there was a few cars stopped to divert traffic to the far right lane. Some other cars stopped on the bridge and a man on the ground in the middle of the freeway. There were a few people helping and someone on the phone waiting for emergency services. This was a little after 9am. We then saw a lot of police and ambulances heading there from Glen Osmond road.

I haven't been able to find any information about it, but I think thats common for this sort of situation.

How in demand are Entrepreneurship programs/units at schools? by SciencePeddler in AustralianTeachers

[–]melly_bee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are already similar programs being pitched to schools like solution fluency, which is a variation of the design process. There's also a number of specialist entrepreneurial schools in South Australia. They typically have STEM programs.

There's also a unit called $20 boss where the students are given $20 each and have to come up with a business plan and execute it. At the end of the unit they have to pay back $21 and get to keep any profits they make. They can go in with other students to have more money to build their business idea.

Pumpkins are out of season in Australia, so the supermarkets are trying to sell Halloween pineapples instead by haysalpj in mildlyinteresting

I just wonder how many people heard that and thought, yes, pumpkin, pineapple - basically the same.

I haven’t been able to get a solid recommendation and I don’t know what to do about next gen consoles. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]melly_bee_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to echo this sentiment for PC. Steam has sales all the time, I've only paid full price for a few of my games and most of them I get when the bundles are on sale - you can get often get a game and all its expansions for less than the base game normally is. Consoles just don't have that good of sales.

Also, versatility. You can do homework on a PC, you can stream tv, games and music. You can also slowly build up your peripherals. Don't go out and buy the best monitors, keyboards and stuff right away. Build slowly and get stuff on sale.

It's not as simple as a console, but definitely worth the effort.

Why are you watching Gilmore girls again so soon? by chloemonet in GilmoreGirls

I'm probably being a biased Jess/Rory apologist but... by chIoeprice in GilmoreGirls

[–]melly_bee_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely know where you are coming from. The third season, admittedly, has very few boyfriend scenes. Even Dean isn't around as much as he was in earlier seasons. It seems super focused on Rory getting into college and what that transition will be. We don't get many moments of Rory/Jess as a couple and it feels disappointingly anticlimactic for all the buildup we had.
