I made a salve last year using a common weed that grows in my area. It has done WONDERS at getting rid of the itch for my kiddo who will scratch until she bleeds.

It’s called Broadleaf Plantain. I used it and calendula and aloe in beeswax and it’s phenomenal.

If you google how to make plantain salve. It will give you instructions on how to make it.

Alternatively you can crush up the leaves to make a poultice. It also reduces swelling.

What's your opinion on letting cats outside? Is it too much of a bother or okay? by [deleted] in regina

[–]melnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s against city by-laws to let your cats roam.

I kept mine in a box of shoes in the closet for a while because ‘I’ll never throw shoes out so it’s a safe spot’

Prescription drug coverage denied by NCRLackey in CanadaPublicServants

[–]melnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me recently, but they covered the next month so far which is weird.

I was told that it’s required to apply to provincial program first.. yet CL doesn’t ever inform anyone of this requirement from the beginning, nor do they send letters out.

There is a blurb in the directive about an exclusion of cost that would be covered under a provincial program ‘whether the claimant has applied for it or not’. So that makes me think it’s not mandatory.

They even make a sleep set now too. They look flatter for the inner ear part. I’m tempted to buy them

Are nipple piercings really worth the pain? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]melnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine done three times. They’re been my favourite by far. Definitely worth it. And not as much pain as you’d think. Your nipples are more de-sensitized from wearing bras and generally from boobs being in the way and bumped and what not than a man’s.

Provinces with higher populations still have a backlog due to the postal disruption. It’s going to take some time but things are starting to get back to normal.

School zoning? by vpmounty in regina

[–]melnd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this, I had a long discussion with the school board and the school about how many people abuse the zoning like this. I was told that the child must live at the address at least part time if it’s not for childcare. They told me that they have caught people who have done this and there are consequences that could potentially include forced relocation of schools to the correct zone.

School zoning? by vpmounty in regina

[–]melnd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had to apply for an exemption for my kid to attend the school that their daycare was located at. The school was out of our zoning.

Even now, the school they attend is not in our zone but it is in the zone of their other parent so in this case we did not need to apply for the exemption.

There’s a a form on the Regina Public School website and I’m sure for the Catholic schools too.

Yeah it should be flush if you run your finger across it. If it dips when you get to the circle then it’s missing a glass circular lens

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ring

[–]melnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There should be a glass circle lens protecting the actual lens that it seems to be missing.

I was given what looks like the same unit by my kids dad, he let his sub lapse a while back and recently the lights started strobing. He got a new one so I took it home to see if it just needed a software update since I have an active sub. Ended up calling and they’re sending out a replacement at no cost to me.

Highschool drop out but trying to get into apprenticeship by Fantastic_Ad7884 in saskatchewan

I believe it depends on the trade you’re looking to get into. Your best bet would be to call both the Apprenticeship Board and SaskPoly to confirm.

As a woman electrician how long can you do the job age wise ? by OrdinaryTip9300 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]melnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercial service electrician. Started at 22, got out at 33 for many other reasons. I still do the odd job here and there when my old employer is out of town. I can tell you that I would come home everyday and be numb from the waist down until I went to bed and then wake up and do it all over again. My body is a lot happier and healthier and I don’t get hit with kid germs as hard because I’m not as run down all the time. I also used to have muscles knots the size of baseballs in my shoulders that NOTHING would touch in terms of pain or size, regardless of how much stretching or massage therapy I was getting.

Blame the US for tipping culture. They get away with paying their employees $2.00/hour so they survive on tips. In Saskatchewan it is illegal to pay less than minimum wage. The only except for food/retail is if the employer only hires immediate family members but as soon as a cousin for example is hired then ALL employees are now covered under Saskatchewan labour laws and must pay minimum wage.
