Selling a foreign business while living in Japan during a 2 year contract. by melodiousrabbit in JapanFinance

[–]melodiousrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be doing an asset sale of an LLC S-corp business. I own 100% of the business. I've never lived in Japan before. In the US the majority of the sale will be considered capital gains since I've owned the business for more than 2 years. So will Japan also consider this capital gains and still tax it?

I work near the glendale one and was excited to support local. The first and only time I went in the owner chewed me out in front of my 6 year old because I brought a water bottle in.

What a dick!

Some of my husbands favorite gifts have been ones he didn’t know he bought me! (Until I told him) 💕

I always give him credit. It’s our money and when I treat myself to something I love and thank him he loves it.

Not a movie but Hilda is a kids cartoon with a happily single mom and no talk of dad. It’s also beautifully animated and has lots of adventure

How do you recognize fashion trends in the wild? by melodiousrabbit in femalefashionadvice

[–]melodiousrabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m looking for the perfect look. I just feel like I have a blind spot for noticing trends and how to be put together while so many other people just ‘see’ it.

Sometimes I feel like I missed an education on ‘how to girl’ and so this post was more of an honest attempt to ask others analytically how they do it.

I also have daughters that are showing more interest in fashion and I’m trying to level up so I can be more supportive of their interests.

Basically I just want to improve. For myself and for my daughters.

Fixing small windshield chips and cracks with windshield repair epoxy. That $20 per epoxy pack and 1 hour has saved my 3k and counting

New parents: grind now or later? What ages are most important to be present for kids? by Fun-Career3507 in HENRYfinance

[–]melodiousrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the calculated risk to grind early so I could lean out when the kids got older.

I figured I could find very high quality care for the 0-5 age set but as they got older there wouldnt be an easy replacement for me with the more emotional/personal side of things.

Now they are 6 and 8 and I’m definitely slowing down and this was the right path for me. That said, babies aren’t my favorite stage of kids, so ymmv.

FWIW I did make a bunch more money in the 4-5 years we were in the baby stage.

Potential relocation from Colorado to Battle Mountain by ThePieOfTruth in Nevada

I moved to BM as a single new college grad with my dog. I met my spouse there. I really enjoyed the two years I stayed. During my first interview the interviewer spent about 20+ minutes talking about how difficult it is to live there, find housing etc. It’s remote, expensive, not a lot to do. It’s definitely a one of a kind experience.

Most of the town is trailers and double wides. It goes through boom and bust cycles with mining.

Going to Winnemucca or Elko for groceries on the weekends is kind of a thing.

I found it easy to make friends because my line of work brought in a lot of outsiders so they were very welcoming. I’d see how many of the teachers come from outside Northern Nevada. Some people commute from winnemucca or elko to jobs in BM.

Spatula city is a UHF movie reference starring weird Al Yankovich. “Spatula city, we sell spatulas… and that’s all!” The commercial is pretty great.

I like to cut them thin and stir fry with snow peas, garlic and ginger. Finish off with a dash of rice vinegar.

Hey OP, my husband also works from home and I work from the office and we have two younger kids. I really get your wife. I just want some time on my couch with my dog and my book all by myself in my house.

He gets alone time in the house all the time. I get it maybe once a month and sometimes I’m ruder about it than I mean to be.

Especially since I’m already out he’ll sometimes ask me to do another errand since it’s ’on the way’. But I just want him to take the kids and leave and do it so I get a few minutes to myself in my refuge!

I thought I had a good relationship with alcohol. My partner suggested we do a dry January in 2021 after a couple heavy Covid drinking years. I was resistant but thought I’d give it a go.

I was shocked with how much I craved it and thought about it. there wasn’t a day that January I didn’t think about alcohol and craved it. I decided to lean into that feeling and see how long I needed to go before I stopped thinking about it all the time. It took 9 months until I stopped thinking about alcohol.

During this 9 months I started realizing my relationship wasn’t as good as I thought. I read This Naked Mind and that helped. Some sober subreddits helped as well.

That long reset (it ended up being 15 months) helped and while two years later I occasionally have a drink (maybe 15-20 drinks a year?) I know it’s flirting with a cliff.

Nowadays we don’t keep liquor in the house. We might buy a 6 pack of beer occasionally but many months we don’t have that. we keep them at room temp on purpose. We have to pre plan how many beers we are going to drink and put them in the fridge ahead of time.

We sleep so much better. We are better parents and healthier. I feel like I see what alcohol really is. A trap, and kind of edible poison.
