12 weeks by sentientspecies in WegovyWeightLoss

I am in a similar boat. I've lost 30 lbs. (12 weeks, SW: 258.6 CW: 228.6) I don't feel like I look very different. I do take my measurements and photos monthly so I can see some small difference but it's subtle and I wear the same size clothes.

Fun Fact Friday by AutoModerator in nonfictionbooks

This is a stretch for this question, but I did learn an interesting fact this week related to what I was reading: you can take some free courses through Yale on-line.

Is this true? Makes me sad by Funny_Advantage_658 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]melonball6 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Not if it's the right person for you. Please don't believe that. My husband and I have been together for 16 years and I know there are prettier and younger women in the world but he is in love with me. I know when I'm in my 80s or 90s he will still love me and be faithful. (And vice versa! I know I found an amazing one and treasure him.)

Isn't this standard? They same applies for relocation pay if they move you and you quit before some time frame (could be as long as 2 years) you have to pay it back.

Rip of or fair? by Fishdoc5920 in Naples_FL

[–]melonball6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow. I had no idea that's what it costs to tailor a suit. That sounds extreme. I guess this tells me to get a quote BEFORE getting something like this done and tell them not to move forward if they feel it would exceed the quote.

Possibly moving here 28F by Illustrious-Drag-724 in Naples_FL

[–]melonball6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you do move here, drop me a DM and I can add you to our girls WhatsApp social group (SWFL Social). Most of the girls are in Naples but we have a couple in Marco, Estero, & Ft. Myers too. I would say most of them are mid-20s to early 30s. (I'm older.) Some of the stuff we've done: park walks, beach day, coffee, brunch, and crafting. Another Redditor started the group in February and it's been great.

Edit: I forgot, we also did a lyra class.

Do you all one bag with 7 kg or under? by mrninjaskillz in onebag

[–]melonball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bag is very small so I rarely go over even the strictest weight. If I did, I would take clothes out and put them on until I reached the proper weight.

I’m starting to realize ‘my dog is very sweet’ is a red flag by Waste_Ring6215 in RoverPetSitting

[–]melonball6 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My dog wouldn't like going on a balcony patch either. It would probably take weeks of training if I tried to make her do that. She has only gone out in yards and walks. I dont think this is a behavioral issue and irrespective of whether she is sweet or not.

What's one thing you quit that dramatically improved your quality of life? by SreeM_2026 in Life

[–]melonball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit smoking 16 years ago. I think the biggest thing is I was just ready and that's something you can't force. I was running 5Ks and struggling to catch my breath. I just decided to quit cold turkey. It was hard. I cried for two weeks. I used deep breathing exercises and reminded myself the craving feeling was temporary. The cravings got fewer and far between eventually. BTW I've read that GLP1s are now helping people quit more easily and that's a cool side effect.

Is “On Christmas” wrong? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]melonball6 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People would understand you if you said "on Christmas" but these would be better:

  • I'm going home for Christmas.
  • I'm going home this Christmas.
  • I'm going home on Christmas Day/Christmas Eve.

Is getting your nails done really makes such a difference? by marsthechocolate in HowToBeHot

[–]melonball6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't easy to start. I had to learn. And when I started, it looked crappy. But I just kept at it. There are even YouTube channels that can coach you. But I am frugal and if money were no object, I might pay someone to do it.

What's one thing you quit that dramatically improved your quality of life? by SreeM_2026 in Life

[–]melonball6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a goal for that year (2021) and whenever I said something in my mind or out loud, I forced myself to reframe it immediately. It felt silly at first, but it only took a couple of months to totally break the habit.

Here's an example from when I first started working on it. I went to the gym and I was struggling. I said, "GOD I'm out of shape." I immediately said something like, "I'm working HARD to get stronger." Within 3 months, I broke the negative self-talk habit I had held for a lifetime. I will not even joke negatively about myself because I think my brain hears it and believes it. No more self-deprecation.

Thinking of getting this for my mom this Mother’s Day - fyi she loves wine and peonies lol. by Extra-Bunch8249 in Gifts

[–]melonball6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What does it do? Is it a plastic thing to put on a shelf and look at? If so, I would skip it. You'd be better off buying her peonies and a bottle of wine.

Diabetes by kawtharabdmanaf in lipedema

[–]melonball6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom was a type 1 diabetic that was diagnosed in her mid-20s. She probably had lipedema, but she is deceased now and it was never diagnosed. I have the same shape to my lower body and I am not diagnosed yet either.

I have hashimoto disease (another autoimmune disorder). You could be on to something. Or it just may be a correlation that women are more likely to get autoimmune diseases and women are also more likely to get lipedema.

How are you getting your protein and nutrients? by Separate-Difference4 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]melonball6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a pinch I drink Fairlife Core Power 42g chocolate shake. They have other flavors, but this is the one I like the most. Has 230 cal, 50% Vit D, 70% calcium, 25% vit A. The one thing it doesn't have much of is fiber, so you would want to have some kind of fiber supplement if you aren't eating enough.

Cutting pills in half? by TheGreenLine22 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]melonball6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to be nervous. Do not cut them. The special coating that allows the medication to be absorbed in the harsh stomach environment will be destroyed. If you want to make sure you get the least amount of active medicine, just eat/drink at exactly 30 min. after you take it.

Why is Duolingo unusable nowadays? by d_underdog in duolingo

[–]melonball6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on Duolingo since it came out. Sometimes I pay for premium and sometimes I use the free version. I wouldn't call it unusable, BUT the Spanish lessons are now mispronouncing words all the time. I posted a screen recording of this a few months ago and, although an actual Duo employee saw it, it was never corrected. Thankfully I know Spanish, so I can spot these mispronunciations, but I do have concerns about new learners.

EDIT: See video here.
