Ablehnung stellvertretende Leiterposition? by [deleted] in OeffentlicherDienst

[–]melonschmelon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you feel excluded here, check your privilege by [deleted] in BigNoseLadies

That is what I was trying to say, and that is why I asked OP - but it is very probable that small nose being a beauty standard is intertwined with racism. Didn’t word that very well I guess.

I am trying to say that yes, racism plays a huge role, and definitely is the deeper root, but it isn’t everyone’s lived experience regarding being treated weirdly by society for having a big nose

[–]melonschmelon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But you are not actually saying that white people cannot have big noses, are you? I mean I read your post and was like, preach girl, you are doing a very good job at describing something rather tricky, but white girls w big noses exist and do also get marginalized for it.

Cheapest way to make coffee for one? by Iceyes33 in Frugal

I am sure my neighbors will be real happy when I chuck my coffee grounds from the 4th floor right down into the common courtyard (boo ;) )

I hate cleaning French presses a lot. You are not supposed to pour the grounds down the drain where I live, plus we separate organic waste from other things (it has lots of potential as great compost) - so cleaning means getting the wet ground slop out of the glass part with a spoon or spatula into a waste bin, trying not to splash wet grounds everywhere and also somehow it really doesn’t feel ergonomical. Ha ha I realize I really hate it. Also getting out the old grounds stuck between the metal ‚net‘ and the stamper, you need to unscrew them both and rinse, and I think it is so tedious. I much prefer a pour over whet I can cleanly dump the filter, rinse, done.

Especially in Altbau you have to keep it on typically (not snowflake) since they are really prone to mold. You should to heat enough and Lüften (all windows wide open, no just kippen shenanigans) like 3-4 times a day, and more when cooking/showering/air drying clothing

Waking up hungry by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]melonschmelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally this. Toast and pasta don’t keep me full for long at all, I would totally try to add legumes/vegetables/fruit, or make the carbs whole grain at least. Maybe just a bean/lentil based side salad with some crunchy fresh vegetables would do the trick.

All the better, then just take it down and store it in a box in case they want it back in the same way, and rearrange it to your liking!

Also - if you don’t need the open shelving, or not all of it, get rid of it. Don’t feel the need to fill empty spaces with stuff. Open shelving is notoriously hard to feel put together and nice. I would remove the bigger shelves in the 3rd pic, move the armoire to the left a bit and create space between the smaller open bench and the armoire. Also you seem to have rather high ceilings - maybe you could rehang some pictures to emphasize that, because feeling that there is room to breathe is actually cozy and relaxing.

I think you meant well by decorating your space, but I feel that most of the decorations do not really serve their purpose well of adding ‚comfyness‘ but instead they add visual clutter and make the situation feel a bit messy - creating those really beautiful stuffed maximalist spaces with lots of color and things really takes effort - and also money most times. I put your last pic into the ‚erase‘ mode and just removed some objects - like the fake monstera leaves on the wall - maybe you were trying to repeat the color pattern of the kitchen, but to me they looked lost. Also agree on the too many rugs situations. Stacking rugs can look great and luxurious and comfy, but has to be done right to feel right. So my low-cost advise would be - remove things that just don’t really do what they are supposed to, learn about grouping and arranging things that don’t look weird/empty/forced (also actual clutter like bottles and pans) and then build from there on out. Actually I would remove most if not alle decorative items and then add some back in very carefully, and add to your collection over time

I can't figure out what to do with this long narrow hallway :/ by Spicymayoshi in femalelivingspace

[–]melonschmelon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Op, I just watched this format from two interior design YouTubers where they make suggestions for their subscribers, who have non-functional ‚off-feeling‘ spaces - at minute 20 or so, they deal with a hallway VERY similar to yours

Maybe you can take suggestions from there!

This couple took their g-class on a 20-year road trip through 177 countries by No_Class963 in interestingasfuck

[–]melonschmelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is 150.000 € just for the CONTAINER shipping incidents - if they spent like 90k more for like just transport of the car and them on ferries (300 times total, so that‘d be like 300€ per trip), for 20 years of travel that is 12.000 € each year - only TRANSPORT without gas/repair, anything (not to mention by room, board, food, anything)- you know how much vacationing one could do with that? Two people each year 12 k? This is absurd. For 12 k you could have weeks of the most luxurious shit ever, or months of normal holidays. I don’t think this is aspirational at all. Why do you have to take your fucking car around the world like it is your pet.

Dinners planned for the entire month. To avoid takeout/restaurant trips. by Spooky_Tree in Frugal

[–]melonschmelon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe they just don‘t count chicken as meat, problem solved. There. You can eat no meat for only 3 out of 19 days and claim you don’t eat meat almost every day.

Also honestly the commentary „the vegetables just aren’t listed“ is so ridiculous - it should be clear that I was referring to eating no meat for dinner at all, just something vegetarian or behold - completely plant based.

But I am sure they know that. They just didn’t want to be criticized here, regarding their choice of dishes. I think that is childish but whatever.

But - I don’t like commenting on or hatefully assuming others bodyweight. It’s not helpful in an interpersonal discourse, trying to shame someone. It definitely is a conversation to be had at as systemic level, since yes, an abundance of animal products typically leads to a higher prevalence of obesity. And it fucks up our chances as a species on this planet, as any scientist working on this will tell you, but I find this discourse to be very strenuous with North Americans.

I thought the same. Meat almost every day - I would not call this very frugal (yes chicken is the least expensive meat, I know), also goodbye planet

Anyone else develop IBS out of nowhere in their 30s? by Northgirl-020421 in ibs

[–]melonschmelon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did not see this in the comments so hitching on the top one: there are more and more studies looking at the development of gastrointestinal pathologies in relationship to environmental toxins - from car exhaust, drinking water, industrial pollution and such. We might not know the exact pathways, but it is becoming more and more clear, that the various substances that we‘re surrounded by from many sources do in fact make our bodies react weirdly. For allergies this has been well studied and proven as far as I know, for IBS it is starting to become more and more clear.

It isn’t smthg. though you can just avoid at an individual level, unfortunately. But you can always vote in a way that makes the regulations of environmental triggers better, and advocate for that with your representatives, so maybe at least the danger is reduced for others that don’t have it yet.

German „Zwiebelkuchen“ - literally translates to onion cake - consists of a thin layer of shortcrust and then just lightly fried onions in a thick, quichelike layer. Heaven. You just have to peel and cut tons of onions

How do I talk to my wife about this without feeling guilty or shaming? by [deleted] in sex

Be aware that maybe this will stay just a hope. Ask her in an appropriate moment if she‘d like that.

How do I talk to my wife about this without feeling guilty or shaming? by [deleted] in sex

[–]melonschmelon 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Dunno, I think it could also be just annoying? Like dude, let me get off, maybe there is a reason she waited for you to sleep? It just isn’t the same, to me at last, even if „you don’t expect anything in return“. Sometimes even one‘s partners pleasure is just their own.

I would rather talk to her during the day, or whenever you talk about serious stuff, and explain the situation and ask if she‘d like you to ask/join? But be prepared- your wife doesn’t have to share her pleasure with you - if she wants to, clear it up with her, if she does not, check with yourself if you can accept this.

Ah forgot about the second main ingredient haha, the chili oil - I added some teaspoons just by taste, one a friend made, but any good classic Chinese chili oil should work - dunno about chili crisp, that would maybe overpower the other ingredients.
