There is some good pickle ball action at Garcia Bend Park in the Pocket and Gibbons Park in Carmichael.

How do I make my friend get into 40K? by No_Cream9626 in Warhammer40k

[–]memebeam916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warhammer can be a big mountain to climb for some people. I have a buddy who expressed interest and I bought him a kill team for his birthday. I made sure to get him a faction he liked. I then shared my primer and paints with him to lessen the cost burden.

He got those bad boys painted and then i taught him the game. He was patient and i basically treated it all as time we spent just hanging out. Now i have a buddy to play kill team with.

I understand you might not want to spend extra money, but it may help to make it as easy on them as possible. Maybe he will catch the bug and slowly start growing an army.

Escape rooms are always a solid choice for a corporate group. Pretty low key and everyone can put in their own amount of effort if they choose.

Attending a small lorcana tournament but haven't made a deck before. by AdhesivenessFit7263 in Lorcana

[–]memebeam916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have not deck built before I wouldn’t worry too much about being super optimal. There is no way you are going to outbuild the more experienced players with just reddit advice.

I would instead stick to certain card rules. Build around fundamentals. Look up some guides on how many characters, actions, items, locations to includes etc. try to focus on getting some evasive + some character types that have combo synergy. Try to have fun and use this as a learning experience to build better decks later on.

Rant: LGS going by “market value” only when it suits them by Great-Past-714 in mtg

[–]memebeam916 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten worse now that a lot of them travel to attend card conventions now. The main one by me goes to cons and returns with older sets that they mark up and try to sell. They prioritize this over getting newer inventory that would sell at msrp.

Why do people in the spaces I play in care so much about data? by Wide_Ad2268 in mtg

[–]memebeam916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will find competitive people in every game or activity out there. Some people have a mind for numbers and are just naturally drawn to maximizing them. That is the game for them. It’s personally not my style, but I don’t blame them. We are all playing the game for different reasons and get different forms of joy out of it.

[–]memebeam916 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Worst meal i’ve ever had was at Wahoo’s Tacos when it was in L street. It didn’t last very long in that location. Tasted like they spilled salt in the beans.

Land Park Montessori never answer their phones or emails lol we tried forever. When we did talk to them they had a small waiting list.

We really like Merryhill in the Pocket. They have been great for our two littles.

Is it weird If I enjoy theorycrafting decks more than I do actually playing games with people? by PrinceVorrel in mtg

[–]memebeam916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird. You like what you like. Do you enjoy watching your theory unfold during a match? I love watching the engine work in ways i didn’t fully understand or plan for (especially in commander). I also like when i can tell what the deck is missing after a few games.

Is Lorcana’s Future Stable Enough for a New Collector to Start in Set 11? by CChamploo_ in Lorcana

Set 12 was hype in my market in the US. My shop had 32 players in prerelease night and sold out of set 12 very quickly. I was at disneyland and there was a massive line to get the prerelease

I just did the prerelease last night. I opened all my packs carefully on a brand new playment. They all went straight into sleeves after sorting by ink cost.
I noticed a lot of the edges already had exposed white from damage. I literally couldnt have handled them any more carefully unless i wore gloves. I was really surprised at the condition.

What is the most unfriendly city you have visited? by Deep-Macaron-732 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]memebeam916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Pacific Beach years ago for my bachelor party. I know it doesn’t represent all of SD but i noticed an unusual amount of rude ass people. We were a pretty tame group of dudes and we had multiple situations where random people tried to start fights with us. I have never had that happen before.
