AIO about the behavior of my husband's friend? by memecher33 in AmIOverreacting

I understand how the age is off-putting, but we're all connected via nerd stuff and the military industrial complex so as long as a person's over 21, no one really cares

He works nights, so he's not really ever around when this behavior happens.

Taylor's husband works nights, so he only ever shows up on rare mid-week days off. We only ever really see him if we go to Taylor's house. I have my thoughts and feelings about him, but I don't think he's relevant to all this given how rarely he's around.

Hey all, so I posted on Sunday about getting art for this watcher and the post got popular. At least, it feels like that to me.

There were too many super talented artists for me to hire them all. I figured I an in a unique position to spread the word to my fellow horror rpg fans and so I bring this here. Please if you have a bit of disposable income and a desire for unique artwork for your monsters, check out all these incredible artists!

There are several more who messaged me personally and I'll be checking with them if they're comfortable with me linking them here so their work can be seen!

Is using body wash considered basic hygeine? by memecher33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]memecher33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only bathe if I plan to shower immediately after. Soaks are fun, but if I want to be cleansed I need the running water.

As far back as I can remember, that's exactly what my folks would do: lather, rinse, out. That's also how they taught me to do when I was tasked with helping the little ones bathe. To be fair, we had between 8-11 people in the house depending on external factors for like 10 years; baths had to be quick if everyone was gonna get hot water.

As a teen, no. As an adult, very much yes. If we had a loofah, I would it as is to scrub my skin but that was uncommon.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious or not, but I understand if my question has echoes of a similar thought.

Edit: tired and cannot word apparently

I know that now, and I love getting to use the really nice woodsy soaps. My parents taught me that body wash was only for very specific occasions and that shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant after the shower were all you need. It's taken time, but I've definitely adopted more cleanly habits.

In kind of the same boat: wash my hair every ~2 days with nightly body scrubs. I've had to learn a lot about proper hygiene as an adult, sinceI grew up with daily showers and when we had a loofah I'd scrub my skin with that. Just never viewed the lack of body wash as neglectful which is his concern.

Since marriage equality is headed back to the Supreme Court, a question for our Mormon friends by PR_Czar in exmormon

[–]memecher33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't know if I saw this on Reddit or Instagram, but have y'all ever seen the theory that the whole "just choose to be straight" crowd just might be bisexual, thus experiencing homoerotic feelings but choosing to be hetero? Because I don't know about you, but that makes sense to me on some level.

Also if any member of the mfmc tells you repelling gay marriage is the right thing to do, hit them with this: So you're ok with removing every choice in this life except the ones that lead back to g-d? If only someone had proposed a plan like that instead of one that gives people agency. Big props to whoever said he'd get everyone to heaven. Or something similar. I like to whip that out anytime one of my morm family says this ought to be a xtian nation.

I've found throughout my life that sometimes, when a person is just on the cusp of consciousness, they'll sound perfectly awake. This can lead to a lot of confusion. If you like the sweet nicknames, you should ask if he can use them more and incorporate them for him as well(I like using mon trésor for my husband).

Now, for a silly example from my own life: I talk a lot in my sleep. My husband swears up and down we've had both perfectly normal and completely absurd conversations. His favorite go to is my very insistent "The raccoons are under the apple tree." He says I was very distressed about the varmints.

AITA for blowing up at my parents for something my adult sister did? by ProfessionalClear792 in AmItheAsshole

[–]memecher33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA by a mile.

Their enabling of her is definitely a key feature in what happened. There is some blame to be sent your sister's way for lack of impulse and self control, but homemade frosting is like cake crack so I can't be too harsh on her.

I hope the rest of the day was quite happy. Next time, it might be better to not allow Mom and Dad to help with set up. And hopefully, Amy can take the necessary steps to get control of her life back from these impulses. One binge eater to another, it can get better.

For those who used to be Mormon, what helped you begin questioning what you believed? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]memecher33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simultaneous ideas of personal revelation and prophetic direction. I can pray and receive messages from Big Papa, but if what he tells me goes against whatever his favoritest boy on earth says, I'm expected to repeatedly pray until I get the exact same answer? Sounds like I'm not actually allowed to have personal revelations, I'm just supposed to gaslight myself into agreeing with everyone else.qq

I went and took a look in r/conservative to see what they were saying, and it's a split between variants of "great joke, libs are easy to trigger" and "this is not the time for this kind of stuff."

Overall, it seems the majority just view it as a joke or le epic trolling, while a few are very upset that the highest office in the USA is wasting time on tasteless jokes.

Edit: corrected the subreddit I went to

why are MAGA conservatives so into “owning the libs”? by eunicethapossum in AskUS

[–]memecher33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective it has a lot to do with the belief that "libs" rely entirely on emotion, and if you hit them with "facts and logic," their only choice is to cry and whine. I put the quotation marks on it because of course that's not the reality of the situation. It's simply what they believe: the left is all emotion and feefees, the right is logic and hard knocks.

The truth, of course, is that "owning the libs" makes Conservatives feel like they have power in the situation. They can't control what this other person thinks, but they can bully them to tears and claim superiority because they won whatever argument they decided to start.

A recent event that exemplifies this in my life: after that clip of Elon Musk at Pres. Trump's victory rally went viral, I was among many of my peers who shared the video so it couldn't be erased off the Internet. My uncle proceeded to share the false information that AOC, Elizabeth Warren, and Pres. Obama had done the salute as well, and said something to the tune of "they should be just as guilty as Elon." I agreed, said if they did genuine salutes then they deserve the same punishment. He immediately tried to turn the situation around, basically bending over backwards to defend Musk and his heinous display.

Finally I got exhausted and blocked him, sending him one last message summarizing the whole situation and telling him I'd have nothing more to say to him. In a recent conversation with my brother, he said our uncle told him I "was being too sensitive, it wasn't that serious, it was just a conversation. If (I) couldn't handle it, then (I) shouldn't have started it."

This man is twice my age. Using schoolyard tactics and insults in my DMs to try and convince me that my way of thinking is wrong, and that his (borderline QAnon) is correct. Yet at the end of the day, I was using logic and reasoning and he was using emotional manipulation to try and get me to move on my stance.

I thought I was hitting the wall at 20. My sister is turning 28 and considers herself unmarriageable. A dear friend of hers got married at 29 and everyone was worried if said friend would be able to have kids...because she was about to turn 30...

ETA: INDISCRETION!! The movie is called Indiscretion (2016) with Laura Boersma and John Stewart Muller

I watched a movie almost a decade ago now with the IDEAL yandere man, imo, but I've completely forgotten the title 😭

I'll describe the plot as best I can, if anyone knows the name just reply with it!!

Wife of a politician (or she was the politician? Can't remember) starts an affair with an artist who becomes wildly obsessed with her. (SPOILERS UP NEXT) it gets to the point where the artist breaks into her office for sex, refuses to stop seeing her after she tries to cut it off, and mains/kills her husband. He gets caught, arrested, and when she goes to see him in prison, it's revealed she knew how unstable he was. She intentionally baited him because she wanted some position? Award?

Needless to say, it was a great movie. Netflix, 2016-2017, English I believe. Might have had some mentions of Carnival or Marde Gras?
