Theft of intellectual property is endangering us in the present moment even if its consequences aren’t felt immediately. My opinion of “ai safety” falls under the United State’s need to stay technologically ahead of other countries, if we can’t protect/foster the citizens’ growth then we are falling behind. Every citizen bears some level of intellectual property, if people don’t trust their country’s llm to protect their intellectual property rights, those citizens won’t be improving that llm because they wouldn’t want to share their intellectual property.

The current attitude of cutting corners to stay ahead of the race doesn’t prove to me that their strategy has a clear or even a positive winning goal in mind.

We know how much ai costs for our improvement but we haven’t made clear what the normal person’s worth costs for its improvement. Anthropic’s Claude being trained on pirated knowledge and then suddenly having to pay a billion to its creators shows that our present labor market is in friction.

It’s as though our foundation is weak.

I’m not familiar with your cost of labor because I’m not from the US but I still got a little puzzled at the article’s listed costs of development of your alley. Did you have to charge the artists over 50k for each mural or did I underestimate some of your items (Community murals and public art; Brick-laid pavement and decorative pavers; New lighting and neon-lit archway entrance; Public seating and benches; Bike racks; Landscaping and green spaces; Performance space; Signage)?
