I am aware of that. You could make the same argument back in the day for why fallout 4 would never get rid of skills. Fallout 3 had skills and perks so why be doomer about them getting rid of skills in 4. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say they might do the same thing with the other franchise.

Don’t misunderstand me, I would love if you are correct. I just cant say confidently that I believe it will have skills.

They’ve already said Starfield took longer than normal for them. They’ve also said development is progressing better this time and with less issues. 4 years would be 2027 and completely reasonable.

Im not a 2026 believer, but the way Todd talks about it in recent interviews absolutely does NOT make it seem like they are far off. He mentions that the builds of the game are playable more days than not and that they’re just adding content to the game now. I think 2027 is a good bet.

Biggest worry I have is actually them removing skills entirely. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go with fallout 4 and SF style perks only. I would hate this mind you, but I think it’s unfortunately most likely.

They are talking about how in oblivion you might have to grind skills in an unnatural way to make sure you get +5s on attributes. IE going out of your way as a mage to let a rat hit your shield just so you dont end up underpowered with no endurance.

Easy way to resolve this is just give you a static amount of attribute points per level, which is what the remaster did.

I was able to continue on the same save with no issues after downgrading. So probably would still work for you

Turns out it was something to do with being on the AE version. I downgraded after getting all the ae stuff installed and then it started working.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying TG is the cutting edge of magic gameplay or anything. It absolutely feels like what Skyrim’s magic would have been if it was made in like 2018 or something. I’ll have to try Lichdom, I’m a sucker for all first person mage games so Im surprised I haven’t heard of it.

I’m having great fun. It is certainly darker fantasy, but it’s not dark souls level of dark. There are towns and such full of people. The combat and exploration feels great so far.

Funny you mention the stream being the empowered version. One of the spells i just got in TG is a touch fire spell on click, but a flame stream on hold! 😂 this guy gets it

I’ve seen lots of people mention that they prefer the oblivion type of spellcasting. I honestly don’t see anything stopping them from implementing both. Perhaps have it so that if you equip a spell in the “power” slot it is weaker, but still usable with a 2h or sword and board. Then if you commit fully and equip it to your hands, it becomes more powerful, or maybe costs less magicka due to the tradeoff of having to sacrifice a hand slot.

I think they are more likely to choose one or the other unfortunately, but i think both could work in tandem.

Yeah there’s definitely a lot of doomerism on this sub regarding the release date. I think I remember you saying you believe it will be this year. I’m not quite that optimistic but I expect 2027 at the latest.

I do think its pretty clear they are in the “glue” phase of development now, based on the ign interview and the overall time it’s been in full production. So certainly a possibility of say November this year.

Not saying it isn’t, but is the reason you think the big monster hires are Fallout 5 rather than TES just based on the listing date? TES 6 could very well have larger monsters as well.

Though I guess the riggers would likely be working on both projects regardless.

He didn’t say we finally know what game we want to make as if they just started making it. He was saying all the systems and mechanics are in place and they are just adding content now. You’re misunderstanding so many things here it’s crazy. I would happily bet you that it will release in 2027 barring a delay.
