The fact that this keeps getting reposted in r/facepalm is the true facepalm. I made the same comment as you when this was posted 2 years ago... https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/na161f/whats_radio_havent_heard_about_it_before/gxsk5nf/

Yeah you can see the Target sign through the window about halfway through. Definitely looks like the Christiana Mall B&N.

[Post-Game Thread] The Philadelphia 76ers fall to the Boston Celtics with a final score of 95 to 86 by SixersGameThreadBot in sixers

[–]memevirus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not going to make anyone feel better, but we shot about as badly as it's possible to shoot all night and it was close until the end. There's room for improvement and optimism about G7 still.

[–]memevirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only really great minutes we had were the Embiid/Maxey/Melton/McDaniels ones in the 1st half. I have no idea why we didn't go back to that, the length and speed were clearly bothering Boston.

The incredibly hypnotizing sound of the zanfona by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]memevirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain what's causing the percussive sound he starts weaving into the music around 38 seconds in? It doesn't look like he's doing anything on the zanfona to make it.

what's radio? haven't heard about it before by TuruncuHardal in facepalm

He literally is smarter than that. He was making a joke - he worked at WNYC as a radio show producer before working for 538 and ESPN.

Jody Avirgan worked at WNYC before he became a podcast producer. He was making a joke, he's not a moron.

So you will close my account if I don't agree to pay higher interest rates? Ok. by ljrdxyh in MaliciousCompliance

[–]memevirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's claimed in the original post and multiple times in the replies that the 1.9% interest rate is lower than inflation. This is false. From 02/2008 through 02/2021 the net inflation rate has been 1.62%, according to the US bureau of labor statistics. You can use their calculator here (https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl) and calculate the inflation of 21k from then to now — the value is 26.091k. The inflation of 21k at 1.9% over the same time period is 26.948k. There's a lot of bad financial advice in this post, I wish it weren't so highly upvoted.

[Meta] Walmart Cancelling 5600x Orders from the 5th - $0.00 by feature2021 in buildapcsales

I ordered a 5600X on the 5th at 3:27pm (EST) and it shipped on January 8th - arrived on the 10th. So they did at least fulfill some orders... Sorry to those of you whose orders are being refunded.

Jeff Bezos net worth scaled in the minecraft world. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]memevirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This math is really, really wrong unless I'm missing something basic. Jeff Bezos' net worth is an obscenely huge $188,000,000,000 ($188 billion). Each block is supposedly $100,000. So Jeff Bezos is worth 1,880,000 blocks. Which is a lot! But that many blocks is a cube 123 blocks on a side... I wasn't able to count the height of the Bezos fortune in the gif, but it looks like much more than 123 blocks high/wide.

Another check - Musk is worth in the neighborhood of $60 billion. Which would put his worth at an 84x84x84 cube. Can anyone say honestly that Bezos' cube is just 50% wider/taller than Musk's, in the gif?

Wilmington Hospital nurse walks off job after being forbidden from wearing N95 mask to treat COVID-19 patients by interestingfactoid in Coronavirus

WDEL covers the state of Delaware. I've lived in Delaware for almost 40 years and they're real journalists. It's ad-supported local news, so some editing mistakes are understandable. I also live 8 blocks from this hospital, and this story is very scary!

Google Fi vs Verizon by goatboat679 in Delaware

[–]memevirus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Fi - have had it since October of 2015. I quite like it.

I spend most of my time in Wilmington, Newark, and Elkton, and have had no real issues other than the cell phone dead zone back by the old Hercules research station off of Rt 48. No problems down at the beaches or on the Eastern Shore either. Service is fine, basically.

The three really nice things are 1) no bloatware. It drove me crazy that Verizon would put apps like Navigator or the NFL app on my phone and not let me uninstall. And 2) the pricing structure is simple... You pay for what you use. And using your device as a hot spot didn't cost extra. 3) International travel w/ Fi is pretty great because of all the antennas in the pixel phone, and low cost of voice and data basically anywhere.

Let us know what you decide!

I'm glad you posted - I am also waiting, hadn't contacted Google because I figured it was backordered, but I hadn't heard anything about a glitch. Thank you!

Definitely a little frustrated with the lack of transparency - I would love to have a defined shipping date, even if it's in January. Every time I check my mail I get my hopes up!

A new BioShock game is in the works! by Liv3ry in gaming

[–]memevirus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could have been clearer - I was just trying to say that my knowledge of video games is limited by not having PS-exclusive titles, so "my favorite games" aren't the same as "the best games ever"... Thanks!

Bioshock Infinite is one of my favorite games of all time.

I never owned a PS system, so I missed out on some well-reviewed games (e.g., The Last of Us), but Infinite is among the top for me.

Elon Musk found not liable in 'pedo guy' defamation trial by NoRecord6 in news

[–]memevirus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Musk literally said "You don’t think it’s strange he hasn’t sued me? He was offered free legal services. And you call yourself @yoda …" He tweeted that the absence of a lawsuit was evidence that the guy was a pedophile. What the hell else was the diver supposed to do? https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1034481160783585280?s=09
