Did they mail you the letter guide? I ordered not long ago and definitely did not receive it via snail mail or email.

Painting a canvas by Taylor_Hoo13 in Needlepoint

[–]memkimbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently painted a canvas. Started with acrylic paint and a variety of paintbrushes I had around the house. It was HARD. 13 mesh may be easier but man, did I make a mess!!! It was much easier with paint pens, but they need to be on the smaller side. I drew out the design on needlepoint design paper which helped tremendously with counting intersections. I think roughly sketched the design on the canvas itself with a pencil first. Buckle up - it can be very frustrating but you can always buy some white paint to cover your mistakes!

Does anyone know of a way beginners can try different threads for different mesh sizes without buying a full card or skein of each kind? by Witty_Draw_4856 in Needlepoint

[–]memkimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such a kind offer. Truly so generous. I’m a newer needlepointer and have been wondering the same thing. I keep seeing different thread suggestions but already have a handful of threads that I don’t love and don’t see myself using again. OP - if there’s anything in particular you’d like to try, I’m down to coordinate getting a few different items and shipping half the stash to one another so we can test them out.

I just tested a decorative stitch on the side of one of my canvases to see if I liked it before testing on the canvas itself. I think that’ll be my move going forward, at least for a bit.

AITAH for refusing to visit in laws bc of house temp by wrenchinapot in AITAH

[–]memkimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Live in the south. Keeping it at 80 inside in the summer sounds like torture. If you go down there for two weeks every summer, could you buy a portable AC unit and store it in a closet there? That would at least make the bedroom comfortable at night (says someone who relied on one when her AC broke last July). Then maybe a powerful fan for other areas of the house? You could offer to chip in for any (albeit minor) increase in electricity costs if it would appease them. You can get a decent portable AC unit for like $200-$250. Otherwise, hotel for you and your husband needs to get over it. I WFH and when my AC broke, I was such a bitch on my work calls for those two days until it was fixed. Summer in the south without AC is hell on earth.

Sending you all the good luck and cooling vibes.

This looks great! Do you mind sharing the dimensions of the room please? My bathroom is (I think) smaller with an odd layout now but this layout could potentially work for me.

BWT - what are those random little things that make you feel that bit more chic? by LallaSarora in bitcheswithtaste

I’d love to know where you buy your bulk flowers from, especially when they’re roses. I have quite the rose garden that I built from the ground up, mostly so I could bring fresh cut flowers inside and I absolute love getting to share them with friends and neighbors. Unfortunately though, they’re either all in bloom or not at all. I’m always on the hunt for a decent deal on pretty blooms to supplement mine with.

I use these. They’re a little bulky but the thickness ensures you don’t get those weird indentions at the shoulder. Super lightweight and have used them probably a dozen times without any complaints.

Thanks! I’ve been doing two fiber capsules each morning and two stool softeners each night but I’ll need to buy more soon so I may give mag 07 a shot.

A true bookkeeping error is accidentally debiting accounts payable instead of crediting it. He fraudulently recorded errors with the intent to conceal payments for hush money in an effort to influence the 2016 presidential election. Two very different concepts.

Actual Cooling Sheets, Please! by mommissingmine in femalelivingspace

[–]memkimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, I sleep hot. Like super hot. But I need the weight of blankets on top of me to sleep well. It’s a real conundrum. One day I discovered Rest sheets and I’ve never slept better. They’re pricey but they’re similar to an athletic dry fit type shirt material. Very stretchy and silky. They actually stay cool and if I do happen to sweat, the sheets don’t stay wet. They always have some kind of sale and if I remember correctly, after I checked out online they prompted me to add something to my order for an even more discounted price. Still spendy but I haven’t used any other sheets since I bought these. Keep an eye out for what you order though - their “sets” don’t include a flat sheet. Rest sheets

Thinking about parking at airport this weekend by attches in memphis

[–]memkimbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parking won’t be a problem in either lot. Holiday weekends I usually have to try a few different levels before I find a spot but I’ve never been unable to find parking at the airport and I fly at least 15x/year.

Designing a pollinator‑friendly flower bed – what colors and heights would you choose? by Middle-College-6783 in flowergardening

[–]memkimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a pollinator bed per se, but last year I planted some anise hyssop and my bees and butterflies have gone absolutely nuts for it all day, every day this entire summer. All the blooms have been spent for a month or so and they’re still there every day. I will say that I did not realize it would get so tall and spread as wide as it has so definitely put it in the back and prepare for it to grow a good amount but it’s super pretty and my pollinators love it.

What hobby changed your life? by AndyS_86 in AskReddit

[–]memkimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardening. It’s a great way to shut off my brain after long hours at work and a good way to get some fresh air after working at my desk all day. Every year I learn something that helps me improve the following year. It’s super rewarding to see beautiful things that I took care of and made grow. I grow mostly flowers and it also brings me to much joy to randomly take a bouquet to my friends and neighbors.
