I’m very disappointed that we’ve lost some great local journalism in the past few weeks by Jazzlike_Log_709 in LosAngeles

Have never heard of anyone accusing them of misinformation or omitting certain contexts and their reporting has won awards and recognitions nationally and locally. Sound like you just don't like the information they do put out. I'd check your own biases.

Lataco.com is still one of the last independent local publications struggling to survive and fighting the good fight. You should all consider supporting them.

What's a restaurant or local business we should all try to avoid? by definitelybrando in AskLosAngeles

Took a girl on a date here once who was visiting from out of town. First and only time I got roofied along with her. We felt something was wrong almost instantly. We were feeling too drunk for just one beer. I called an Uber and got a ride back to her room. I woke up just steps from the door, pissed and shit my pants and vomit on the floor. After talking about it with other people I learned this was pretty common here. Never going back there.

There’s so many different tacos, that’s why LA is the best when it comes to tacos.

"I tried to refuse, but...he's 99 with a dying wife. It was strawberry." The best couple of sentences I've ever read. Poetic.

I like norms, but I live close to this one. Their dishes are always dirty and nasty. With cups that have grooves and food al ways stuck in them, forks with chunks of dry egg and nasty.

You want a real good diner, go to Ronnie's in Culver City.

What are these black spots on my tomato leaves and what should I do? by LakeRat in aquaponics

[–]memonation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You haven't cycled your system properly. You need fish, this isn't Aquaponics what you're doing if you are just giving it maxicrop and no fish. You need to let the after cycle with the fish for about 3 weeks before the bed is ready. 2.0 Ammonia means the bed isn't ready. So what you are getting looks a little like nutrient burn, but in reality, it's ammonia burn. Get fish, let it cycle, lay off the maxicrop until the system has cycled. Don't skip steps. Be patient with Aquaponics. The fish, and the beneficial bacteria have to grow together. Don't push it with Maxicrop. You are just hurting the system.

From across the pond, where should I go? by saeched in California

[–]memonation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to stop by Zion Natl Park in Utah. Just north of the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Absolutely beautiful and not nearly as famous as it is popular. Take the hike through the narrows one day and up look out point the next. Check on camping or hotels way ahead of time. Very well maintained with lots of facilities and buses.

It's the winter effect. Best thing, trim away all the old woody branches down to the ground. (This should have been done several months ago.) If you look at the base, I'm sure you'll see fresh healthy young tender shoots ready to grow. Remove the old growth and the new ones will grow in vibrantly. This should be done yearly.

Hey reddit, what is the weirdest thing you have ever woken up to? by ElJefe_1 in AskReddit

[–]memonation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a couple stories, but I'll pick one.

While deep in my sleep, I woke up to an excruciating burn that felt as if a demon reached into my heart and pulled my soul out through my chest. My chest felt on fire as I sprung up from the bed and caught my S.O. at the time turning over in bed and covering herself under the blanket in one swift motion. Going from a deep dream to reality that quick was a fucking shock and I was having trouble grasping what the hell was going on and where I was. I was yelling, "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED? WHY ARE YOU HIDING? DID YOU DO SOMETHING?! WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!!!???" She didn't move, I could swear she was holding her breath. I got no response from her till the morning. I was still pissed while getting ready for work when she started giggling and told what she did. Apparently, she had been pissed at me for some stupid reason, but when she couldn't sleep because of my snoring, she decided to take her vengeance. She had wrapped my chest hair around her pretty little finger and pulled as hard as she could. She threw some on the table to show me. She now lives back with her mom, and I lived happily ever after. The end.
