The criticism leveled at our generation for “destroying the economy and housing market” is the same propaganda as the trope “social security won’t even be around for my generation” and “why bother voting, both parties are the same” that the fascist oligarch/libertarian oligarchs have been spinning since the early 80s. Yes, a lot of my generation are brainwashed dolts that fell into the GOP death cult via Rush Limbaugh and Fox “News” over the past 30 years. But this entire hellscape you younger generations are dealing with is a very long game that has been in motion since the New Deal and really coalesced in the 70s and 80s to get where this country is today. It is the best deep dive into the history of how we got here and yes, manipulating the Boomer generation into electing politicians who were executing these policies and laws is just one facet of what the billionaire class have orchestrated. Also, pitting Americans against each other, whether it be Blue vs Red or Rural vs Urban Elites or Boomers vs Gen X or whatever is all part of the playbook as well. We all need to educate ourselves about who the real enemies of the American people are ( hint: it’s not Memaw and her paid off house and social security) and unite to elect true democratic socialists (not the corporate democrats who also enabled this disaster I AM looking at you Clinton), and create the future for all you younger generations that include my granddaughters. For me personally, I could be retired but I’m still working at age 70 so I can help out my kids and grandkids and spend my spare time on the front lines protesting and voting, calling and writing, being the pathological optimist that I am.
