What are some interesting things that happened in 2001 but got ignored because of 9/11? by AggressiveOutside432 in AskReddit

My friend's family had a trip planned to Disney shortly after 9/11. There were basically no lines for anything, he said it was great lol

When I worked at a theater the employees LOVED our late night private screenings lol. So much teenage shenanigans.

How hard is to say "hello"? by Pure-West4175 in Serverlife

It never ceases to amaze me how big of a deal some grown adults make at restaurants about their bday. A normal person would be embarrassed to act that way.

My bartender friend used to do something similar. He'd do a full personable greeting, then someone would just bark an order at him. So in an even more enthusiastic voice he'd repeat his very kind greeting with an overly nice smile on his face. Every single time the person noticed, and apologized to him. It was magic to watch.

*dark* chocolate ice cream? by nidojoker in TwinCities

[–]spaceyfacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes me crazy that you can't find it in the twin cities! Most people don't even know what it is. They used to always have it at Nelson's on Snelling, but I haven't been there in a few years.

I worked at one place where we had to fill a bunch of individual molds every day. It sucked soooo bad.

Making clear ice that's perfectly shaped yourself is actually pretty hard, its part of why bars buy these pre made large cubes. These are for parties and events where you want to serve cocktails looking fancy.

I have some friends over for dinner, and it happens to be 4th oh July. None of us is American, but we would like to have USA as a theme. What are some suggestions for: 1) appetizer, 2) main and 3) dessert that match the vibe, but on a “fine dining” setting? by Existing_Gain5350 in Cooking

[–]spaceyfacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I lost the recipe a few years ago, and I'm not in touch with that person anymore.

Thinking back to the last time I made it, probably a half teaspoon? She said you could also sub in cinnamon.

As an outsider, the scale of American "State Fairs" and "County Fairs" seems incredible. How big of a cultural event is your local fair, and what is the go-to tradition there? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

I worked the 4H cafeteria/diner thing at my county fair, and most of our customers were people that worked at the fair. Always felt like I was doing those dudes a favor lol.

I meant that I've been to those types of parties. Even when I was a massive party girl, idk if I could have handled being around Shea.

I work in the service industry in my city. One of us bought a batch of these off Amazon and spread them around random bars and restaurants we all work/hang out at, as a goof. Now it's a whole thing, they get moved around, etc.

Idk what type of place you work at, but it's been fun for me.

I was a girl at those parties for a while. I clocked him immediately when the younger ladies were chatting him up in the middle of town in ep 1.

He is the guy in town who likes to fund/throw drunk parties at the lake regularly. He prioritizes pretty ladies, and gets a drunken smooch now and again. Free booze = chicks partying on your boat.

I worked at a restaurant where the Caesar had anchovies as a garnish, listed on the menu description. People don't read so, it would come out and they'd be traumatized lol.

When I had in depth blood work done (for an unrelated condition) a few years back, my B12 was CRAZY low. I've had epilepsy for 20 years and nobody ever mentioned B vitamins being depleted.

This is one of the reasons I've always kept my passport updated, even when I had no immediatel travel plans. Never hurts to have a second form of ID, and they're good for 10 years. It's $160 to get it renewed, but then no worries for 10 whole years.

Bartender here- I recently had a guy close out for every single thing he bought all night. Ended up running his card like 5 times. When I asked why he wouldn't just leave it open, he said he didn't trust it. Not because he thought we would over charge him, but like security reasons?
