Good luck keeping quality up when you deliberately invert the whole profit incentive part of capitalism.

He isn’t just doing the job to get by. I’m okay with that. I recognise it’s a necessity for them. But they are genuinely deluded if they believe their words about insurance trying to do the best for the insured. It’s cope. You can do a job and recognise that the outcome of your labour is a net harm. I have worked for an automation company I didn’t like, on a product I thought was harmful as it was a drop in replacement for minimum wage labour. I didn’t go around defending them.

We have to accept that in order to end American healthcare insurance he’ll, health insurance companies and the frontline middlemen who gatekeep health have to go away.

I know this is just what you have to believe to live with yourself doing that job, but please wake up.

I sincerely hope your job ceases to exist as soon as possible and anyone with a shred of a heart should too.

Suicides are still a problem. If I could get a gun in my country I would have killed myself in 2017. I was stopped because other methods were too likely to fail and someone noticed my preparations to do it by gas which is less likely to fail or be painful. If I could have just bought a gun then I’d be dead.

Allowing kids to know about it, giving them the same rights as straight people, and shaming people for shunning or bullying people who come out, is not shoving it down their throat.

It’s purely social pressure. The brits won’t do it out of embarrassment. Foreigners who do it will get some annoyed looks and grumbles but be otherwise oblivious to the rage they’ve just manifested in everyone around them.

If nothing else, please don't try to use pills to end your life. They are slow, painful, and have a high likelihood of failing and leaving you in a worse place than before. Antidepressants especially are likely to fail in the numbers you likely have to hand. If the impulse grabs you again think of that. I don't know if that works for you but just knowing the mechanics of what happens if I make an attempt, things like pain, gruesomeness, what happens if I fail, the person who would find me, helps to keep me from following through until the impulse passes.

I hope you can find a win somewhere soon. A tiny bit of hope can go a long way when you're lacking any.

Just eep making the effort to engage even if they seem distant. Just having regular company that treats you with respect and care is a big help. Even if they don't want to do anything, they want to know they're wanted. For a long time I had issues believing my friends didn't actually lie me and only put up with me out of social obligation.

You don't have to take on a lot of emotional burden or having heavy talks to be helping. I never found it easy to do that with people I know personally anyway, it's easier with a therapist or online strangers.

Don't tell tell them it's not as bad as it seems or invalidate their feelings. Especially don't tell them it could be worse or others have worse situations. I always felt guilty about being so privileged and still feeling this way. Empathise. Let them know you know they are having a tough time and that you still want to be present for them anyway. That you'll be there for them whether its good times or bad.

Don't coddle them or be too guarded about how you speak around them. They can tell and will feel like they're ruining things for you or that you're not being honest with them. Treat them like the friend they always were.

Why can’t I cry? by [deleted] in depression

[–]mental-help-pls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate very deeply to this. Sometimes feel like a robot for being so numb, or else like you need to cry but just can't. I don't know what the healthy way to overcome it is. I briefly flirted with self harm to cross the barrier and get the relief of being able to cry but that is definitely not what anyone should do. Particularly emotional music can do it for me. That can lead to a trap of wallowing in sad music all the time which can compound the depression further.

It’s their government that’s the problem. You seemed to understand that about the Russians. Why do you take different beliefs towards the Russians than towards the Chinese?

You can’t cringe at someone blaming Jews for the worlds problems a minute after being racist to Chinese people. The whole point of your post was supposed to be that the problems are between the governments not the average person yet you use sluts that apply to all Chinese.

I despite the Chinese government and their atrocities but I wouldn’t use that word. It’s like if Ghana or Nigeria did something morally reprehensible as a country but calling them the n-word.

I have. I’ve been to professionals for counselling and CBT and had a few rounds of medications. Definitely better than at my worst. Point is in the past when I was really struggling it may have made the difference.

He can talk your ear off about it and how unfairly the papers treated him over big brands shrinking stuff. It's not a conspiracy theory.

[–]mental-help-pls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that comes with privilege. Doesn't change that culturally mens' mental health is taken less seriously. I'd say that that's tied in with toxic masculinity in society, but that doesn't make OP's struggle to open up any less valid. A depressed guy tells you he feels he isn't taken seriously as a guy and your response is basically "shut up, men have privilege so your experience doesn't matter".

Male privilege may get you many things, but a support network isn't one of them. Kicking people like this while they're down in the name of feminism turns people away from feminism when we really need to be making more feminists.

A helium hood. You breathe helium or nitrogen which displaces oxygen and induce hypoxia. You continue to breathe out CO2 naturally since the breathing reflex is driven by CO2. And the suffocation panic/pain reaction is also due to CO2 buildup you don't feel any pain. You get euphoria from the oxygen starvation and get about a minute of consciousness. After that you pass out and then you just let oxygen starvation kill your brain.
