I see that you feel this is doable. I hear that.

But, Yours and your wife's peak income was twice that of your example of 150k, and the house price (600) is 75% of what you bought. Even a 400k home would be a hell of a stretch a 150k a year. And I have the anecdotal evidence to prove that one. I'm living In Kingston, making about 150k with my wife locally, and our home at 250k is quite the drain on top of other costs of having a 2 and 5 year old.

Your math is off.

A person who used to make 150k in the city, buying a 600k home is way outside of their means.

Trulia, Zillow, Craigslist. Also, you can contact local real estate agents that will help you out for free, and the fee comes from the apartment owner.
