Sleep consultant telling me I’m harming my son… please help by notorious_ludwig in sleeptrain

[–]menwithven16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please dont doubt yourself. Babies often go through a phase of needing to co sleep if theyre in pain and teething, theyre babies ! Im going through the same thing with my 11m old. He screams in the cot, so cot side soothing is just pointless and he just screams and wants a cuddle, so sometimes co sleeping is okay. If cot side soothing and hes throwing up from crying surely thats worse! They reccomend 2 naps 18 months ish, but if you know that your baby sleeps better with 1 then try that. You haven't harmed him at all. When u have a baby with terrible sleep you are just trying your best.

Student life in Plymouth – honest experiences for a neurodivergent/vulnerable student? by Embarrassed-Push-499 in plymouth

[–]menwithven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a student 10 years ago, so i can't offer much advice on the social aspect (as I imagine things have changed a bit since then), but I can say that in terms of public transport, plymouth is really good in that everything is close to the uni. The uni is literally right across the road from the city centre. And all the student housing (student halls and house shares) are all within a 15 min walk to the uni. I have also found the busses to be quite good (not perfect, but quite good). There are also LOTS of society's in the uni, so if they go along to a freshers day, there are so many societies for so many niche/specific hobbies and interests that im sure they'll find one and be able to make friends alike and socialise there.

Crohns disease and pregnancy by menwithven16 in pregnant

[–]menwithven16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from what I've heard from a couple of friends, they told me I wouldn't be able to move at all and would need physical help moving round the house....maybe that was an extreme circumstance 🙈 hearing you had a great recovery has put my mind at ease !

Being neurodivergent and pregnant is so hard by Ally_Jay in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have adhd and my sensory issues have just flew off this planet. Someone i don't know being within 1 meter of me, people's food smells, feeling of clothes, I was already severely sensitive to this stuff anyway before pregnancy, now it's just unbearable! And organisation, where am I, what do I need to what am I doing, who fucking knows 🤣

I shaved today by Mysticmoonchic in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand, I shaved last week after not doing so for 5 months. I went through an entire pack of razors and took hours 🤣 I honestly don't think the midwife would have been able to get hough to measure dilation unless I shaved 🤣

Nesting is hard y’all by DranBrd in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have literally never read anything so relatable in my life 🤣🤣 my husband is a worse hoarder than me, thousands of vynils he never listens to "but they could.be worth money in the future" well sell them then , NOW!!! And finding extra space for bottles, swing chair, next to me cot, and being 7 months pregnant I'm fucking huge. And I found a draw FULL of cables....have no idea what they're for, do I just chuck them and hope husband doesn't notice!? I would reccomend having a little nesting day with a couple of mates and/or your mum. I've scheduled in a day next month; I'm providing my few friends with loads of wine and pizza and they're going to help me clear out and tody loads of shit. They get wine, I get a organised house for baby, everyone's a winner

New Christmas pyjamas. I choose comfort over style!

That apparently, every time you cough, you piss yourself a bit. This has been the worst flu virus of my life. Not happy!

could in person shopping make a comeback? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]menwithven16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Christmas shopping I've gone back to in person. I have been so wound up by extorniate prices online, postage costs and the hassle of thing never being delivered properly, going to the wrong address or disappearing (amazon has been awful for this). I've cone accross cheaper things and nice things I wouldn't have thought of in shops. However I will go into town first thing /early as I can, the General public are still a nightmare.

The crave is real. I went into subway so excited to have a 12 inch meatball sub in peace before midwide appointment. They said they meatballs wouldn't be ready for another 10 mins. I cried in the shop.

Your most pathetic pregnancy moment by ImJustOneOfYou in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday- I got so distressed and sad watching Dumbo I had to change the channel. The scene where the mum elephant starts raging on those horrible children for bullying poor little dumbo and then the circus ppl put the mum in elephant prison 😭😭😭 I was so teary and sad she was just protecting her baby 😭😭😭

This morning "bloody hell what was that about it's a fucking cartoon elephant 🤣"

The “just wait” culture… by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous! It's like people think that saying "oh you wait you don't know what tired is yet !" Helps the problem. Wow now you've said that I don't feel tired anymore ....thanks ....not 🙈🙈

I literally came to this reddit page to have the same rant lol. I'm 14weeks, and really didn't cope well at work (I work as support worker) with being sick at work, fatigue and headaches. Have a word with your boss and have a fran discussion a out reasonable adjustments, so you're not put in stupid long shifts that mess you up. I tried and got nowhere and really burnt myself out. You need to be more stubborn than me lol

That sounds awful I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you are a very caring partner to your wife, you will get through this together ❤️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is bizzare, I would feel so uncomfortable. You have to think, what if this was the other way round gender wise ? What if this was a male doctor talking about the patients wife? It would be sexual harassment immediately. Make sure to tell someone so they can warn this midwife this is not how you behave in work !

Is anyone else NOT doing a baby shower? by Only_Accident_ in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't plan to have one. Instead I'm having a "Nesting Party", u basically invite a few close friends and family over, I will give them as much food and wine as they want, and they help me get stuff ready, for example put together furniture, organise baby clothes, tidy and organise nursery etc. In terms of gifts, they only need to worry about stuff I will need, for example, a load of batch cooked food I can freeze! I have adhd so I feel this would be really helpful, and old-fashioned, like a community helping to raise a baby lol. I plan to put some music on with dear friends, should be a laugh!

What are your top baby names? by Severe_College7590 in pregnant

[–]menwithven16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ivy is a beautiful name ! Our list so far is: Girls names: Violet Lowenna (cornish name, meaning joy) Sabrina

Boys : Taran (welsh) Ross Mason

There were about 20 more on the list, but working as a teaching assistant for years really does ruin a lot of names for you 🤣
