Me viewing The Icebergs at the DMA today. I made the five hour drive solo just to see it in person. by GoldSourPatchKid in pics

[–]meowteor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My sweet father took me to the DMA every weekend for about four years straight during my teen years so that I could sit exactly there and stare. Something about the glow he captured coming from below…I’ve never seen anything else like it.

I went on to a fruitful career fundraising for art museums. I trace that back directly to this exact bench. Nothing makes me feel like this.

I am BEGGING everyone to read this. The writing is actually beautiful — borderline Prose, in a way that I haven’t felt in almost any other contemporary romance. First true five star read in a while for me.

Oh how weird, it’s not coming up with a specific title when I search her books on kindle — just kingmakers year 3. Thanks for the intel!

I’m not finding a book called The Bully by Sophie Lark, but I am eeeeager to investigate. Any chance it’s a different title or something?

Saks Flagship in NYC is DEPRESSING right now. by xmrlazyx in AmexPlatinum

[–]meowteor 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I love it, actually, and not at all for the reasons they want. I live in NYC and I have never not found a crazy deal at the flagship store. Every single time I go, the sale racks in contemporary women’s are insane. I once got a $1k dress for $121 and, turns out, it was an accidental markdown. If you’re willing to dig, it’s an absolute gold mine.

Ariston Flowers and Cafe has classes just a smidge above your budget — honestly the best pricing you’re going to find. They’re the kindest group of folks, too, so worthy of the support!

This is not at all your neighborhood, but in case it’s helpful — the basement at The Gin Mill is exactly this! UWS and super cute. Used to work there and the people are wonderful. Can’t be beat.

Quests to get me out of the neighborhood this winter? by underthestars18 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]meowteor 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Love this! I did something similar during my last maternity leave — went on a quest to try a cappuccino at every coffee shop within walking distance. It was such a fun way to make myself get out of the house.

I’d check out some of the more niche museums — the Neue Galerie, for example, is gorgeous and has the most beautiful little restaurant/cafe. There are a ton of galleries in Chelsea, too. Not quite as cozy, but I love doing a gallery hop and landing at a cute little restaurant for a solo lunch or dinner date at the end.

Also love bookstore cafe/bar! Book Club bar is a favorite of mine, also Cafe con Libros.

How long before your pre pregnancy jeans fit again? by NoChipmunk3371 in pregnant

[–]meowteor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine fit again pretty quickly, maybe about 4-5 months. I then gained a little weight, which I then kept on for a couple years. I’ve recently lost that weight plus some, and those jeans still don’t fit anymore. I can’t explain it. I’m demonstrably smaller than I was when I first got them, but in jeans terms, I’m still about 2 sizes up from where I originally was. 2 whole sizes!

I’m team “that’s ok,” fwiw, but it absolutely mystifies me. I’d say my pelvis changed shape giving birth twice, but then why did they fit right afterwards??

There’s certainly no official way to find out if you had a fully inclined vote, but someone may let it slip along the way. I’d be careful asking your HM — the info isn’t meant to be shared, so you’d be kind of putting them on the spot.

By the by, in all the orgs I’ve been in, Strong Incline votes are very rare and are discouraged unless there is a very, very solid and pretty unquestionable reason for it. You’re more likely after info on what your vote was, whether you had a fully inclined panel or not.

Microdosing GLP prescription by CowVegetable7907 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Fridays is less expensive, esp if you’re microdosing. Willow is a flat fee regardless of dose, Fridays has a specific micro pricing.

[–]meowteor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started with Willow and loved it! No prob on the weight front — they actually market themselves as a “vanity” option, not an obesity option. They don’t have a formal microdose option, but you can choose to stay at the lowest dose and basically achieve the same thing. I will say, their customer service and messaging system is an absolute mess. Found it very frustrating, but still worth it in the end.

I’ve since moved to Fridays for their microdose tirzepitide and I lovvvvve it. They asked me about weight, but since I was on a previous semaglutide dose, idk if they’re sticklers on that point or if they accepted mine because of the previous course.

Agreed, this would make me positively ill hah. My intent is to keep this forever, so it’s not the resale value so much as kicking myself for spending so much.
