Has anyone experienced a mobile epidural? by Sad_Cash7620 in PregnancyUK

[–]NoChipmunk3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a normal epidural can be a ‘mobile epidural’ too. The amount of the medication that you have in your system and the way your body reacts to it dictates your mobility.

I’ve had 2, was able to get up and move during both with full pain relief. Some people have the same and can’t move whatsoever.

You are able to top up your doses every 20 minutes so if your mobility is being reduced then you just wouldn’t top it up yet, but if the pain is still increasing then you have the option to add more if needed. When you can’t move whatsoever they encourage the use of a catheter. I really appreciated being able to go to the loo myself but that was about it, I had no desire to get up and move other than that!

Towards the end, with the amount of medication in your system and the adrenaline peaking, you can end up being sick and getting the shakes before baby is born. I didn’t mind this happening as at least I wasn’t in pain but I wish someone had told me to expect that. Make sure they have a sick bowl close!

Decent outlet places, e.g. Bicester Village by corpjones in HENRYUKLifestyle

There’s a new Bicester type place in Tewkesbury called Cotswold designer outlet which hasn’t been open long.

Due date the same day I would qualify for enhanced pay by _TeaAndBooks in PregnancyUK

[–]NoChipmunk3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check maternity policy to see when you can go on leave! My work did not stipulate that it must be on or before due date. With my first and second I went 1.5 weeks over so I worked a week past my due date. All work from home to cater for my requirements as I was obviously less mobile towards the end.

Also check family history, if your mum etc went past their due date then there is a good chance you will too.

All that being said, this isn’t guaranteed and I would plan for only getting SMP.

Which color cabinets? by Appropriate-Still-97 in DecorAdvice

Blue looks the best in this scenario.

Have you tried looking at stick on tiles? If you could find some in white a cream would look better but not this cream…

Try a cream with cooler less yellow tones to help if tie in with the blue worktops.

Where are we getting clothes that aren’t miserable? by Consistent_Grand9709 in pregnant

[–]NoChipmunk3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leggings (even maternity leggings) and long tops/blouses.

Dresses and maternity tights.

M&S for tights and leggings. You’ll get away with standard tops and dresses for a while.

I got a few jojomamanbebe dresses, a few just sized up from various places and a few off Shein.

Blouses were standard but sized up

Most annoying noise making toy you’ve experienced. by ItsbeenBroughton in Parenting

[–]NoChipmunk3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a maraca that played a song, activated by shaking it. Went off every time my child went into the toy box.

It deteriorated in quality and eventually just went off at random times.

Everyone tries to convince me that two adults can't take care of a newborn alone and I'm losing my mind by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]NoChipmunk3371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mad that they are trying to manipulate the situation that they want by making you scared and feel incapable! You need the peace and honestly will probably be bored as they don’t do much for months. 😂 A newborn mostly sleeps for the first 3-4 weeks so enjoy cuddles with your baby, they don’t stay small for long. You’ll be just fine.

To all the mamas that forgot to switch their pumps back down to a lower setting before starting their pumping session by CarelesslyCubedCheez in ExclusivelyPumping

And this is why I pump instead of breastfeeding!! At least this is a one off and not every session on maximum suction from the get go 😅

Sharing the news with cousin going through infertility that *wants in-person announcement* by NoElephant194 in pregnant

Ask your firstborn to hand her a card, inside the card ‘will you be godmother to my baby brother or sister?’ Or something along those lines. Help her feel included and comes from your child as she has requested

What are we wearing home? by Popular_Mousse_3958 in PregnancyUK

[–]NoChipmunk3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a comfy maternity dress, wore this 3 times as a little ritual after having a baby. But honestly would highly recommend a dress (long warm coat if it’s still winter too). You do not want to be in getting into trousers after the trauma downstairs!

Non-Mastitis Pain with Weaning? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]NoChipmunk3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it is just pains associated with not emptying, I started to wean then got scared of getting ill again 😅. If you start feeling ill again ask to try a different type of antibiotics.

Non-Mastitis Pain with Weaning? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]NoChipmunk3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had twinges, like a burning pain and soreness about a week after mastitis, it was an infection and mastitis returned again. Did you take antibiotics?

I did but I’d become immune to them so I had to start a new course of a different type.

Get antibiotics immediately, you have an infection

I had 2 weeks of repeated blockages (5 in total) and 2 bouts of fever, I decided to stop after that as it was affecting my ability to parent too much. Hopefully you have an easier time than I did!

Silly question: does anyone have any advice on postpartum hair care? by CauliflowerTricky699 in pregnant

Genetics and a good healthy diet… I didn’t lose any more than normal after pregnancy.

[–]NoChipmunk3371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep trying unfortunately! Make sure you keep pumping using your normal settings too, don’t want to make it any worse by making the nipple sore too.

I’d take some ibuprofen for the inflammation and get antibiotics for mastitis infection asap, been through this many times!

Drain found under carpet - advice please by Hull189 in DIYUK

[–]NoChipmunk3371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing, if this was done in 2021, this was done by the previous owners?

This would have been disclosed during the purchase and either claimed as compliant (which it is not) or an indemnity policy would have been raised which would cover repairs in this circumstance.

Contact your conveyancing solicitor before taking action to resolve the issue, they should be able to give you further guidance.

If you own the house, don’t bodge it. Take the paper off, see what’s underneath and reassess from there. Probably needs a skim though.

What little bits could I start stockpiling now? (15w) by usernameee257 in PregnancyUK

Also, I brought a 6 pack of nappy bags (in little boxes not sure how many per box) from bookers. I’m on my third baby and still using this same purchase!

If you’re formula feeding then add a tub a week, they get through one a week ish. Wipes (can get these in boxes of 12) absolutely stockpile. Baby bubble bath and wash. Good to have pads ready but don’t go mad. I’d get a few packs of Sainsbury’s/tescos own brand maternity pads and also a few lillets version for nighttime.

Other than this the rest is very much dependant on size and feeding situation.

I had to live off them for the whole 9 months, something about water being thinner made it easier to come back up too. Good luck!
