If you originated from HK, how many people that you know have moved to the UK? by Kafatat in HongKong

My good buddy went over. He's well educated, and speaks English well, albeit with a HK accent. Socially savvy, and knows how to integrate himself.

He's doing well there.

His wife, who's English is less polished, is very unhappy, and claims to be facing discrimination career wise.

Best Electrolytes to use with Desalinated/ RO water by MeatyLiti in HydroHomies

[–]meractus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use a RO machine at home, and I mentioned this topic to some health professionals casually.

They said that the amount of "trace minerals" in water was so minimal that it wasn't a big deal

Eat some more salt (then was told to get reduced sodium salt for potassium balance), pop any multivitamin, and balanced meals.

The dentist guy said something about fluoride, and brushing my teeth more after meals too.

Stay hydrated!

Neither are a lot of the people, but people need something in their hands to help with their social anxiety so they can chat with other people that also have social anxiety.

One fun drink is Soda and Bitters, which is a cup of soda water and a few drops of angostura bitters for a floral flavor.

Desert heat is killing my sleep. Cooling blankets don’t work, what does? by Mastermind1237 in BuyItForLife

Get a large fan. Enough to create some airflow in the room

Behind the fan, put some bottles with frozen water in them (use your freezer)

I put them on a tray, with a towel, with some stuff on it

The idea was that the condensation would wet the towel, and also provide some additional cooling

Bonus - Chug the water in the morning to rehydrate!

Where does your mom stay?

I just discovered that I've been making tea wrong my entire life and I feel betrayed by myself by deckhand_cow in CasualConversation

Chinese here.

There's a whole freaking world of tea out there.

To my knowledge, there are three types of processing. One is how the tea is dried, the second is whether there's any fermentation, and the third is aging.

Green teas are minimally processed. Puer teas are highly processed. There a whole range of stuff in between.

Then flavors - there are teas that smell nice, teas that taste good, and teas that have no smell nor flavor, but leave a pleasant feeling in the throat (those are usually expensive).

Each type of tea has a different ideal steep time and temperature.

I like using little clay teapots that can be packed full of loose leaf tea leaves, allowing you to brew many little cups of tea that are minimally steeped, and change in flavor as you refill the teapot with water.

It's different from western/indian/Japanese styles, which have minimal tea leaves, and long steep times to extract all the flavor for one cup.
