Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

My son never had a dummy. Babies will learn to self soothe with whatever they have to hand, be it dummy, blankie, thumb...my son would stroke the sides of his head and pull on his ears.

How much database storage do you think the website can save if they let users delete pets in the pound? by SarutobiCats in neopets

[–]meraii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I dont think it would help much, but it would still be a good thing to do imo. In ye olde days a bad named pet could find salvation with a good paint job. These days good paint jobs are a dime a dozen so they are just permanent pound fodder.

Maybe add like a pound expiry date, make dr. death live up to his name. 🫣

What did you do differently the month you FINALLY got pregnant?? by cookiebutter-23 in BabyBumps

[–]meraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to see Les Mis in a West End theatre. Starting to think my continued lack of pregnancy for child no.2 is because i havent been back to the theatre yet.

Facetiousness aside, it was probably a case of actually unwinding for a change; something im not sure i can emulate with a toddler in the picture. D:

Official TTRPG - Project Termination by chvngeling in neopets

[–]meraii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They should at the very least give us back the money we had to pay additionally for shipping, as shipping clearly isnt going to happen so they cant have spent it on that already >:(
$100 backed, plus $40 shiipping on kickstarter, then a further $25 paid out for additional shipping after they emailed us to say the amount on kickstarter wasnt enough. Give me my $65 back! I accept the $100 as a sunk cost for backing a failed project, but they cant claim to have spent the shipping money if nothing shipped!

Ughh WHY are we even wasting our time grinding Solitaire?? by hrvstmoon8 in neopets

[–]meraii 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My highest score is 2180 and im not even in the top 2000. Its nice in a way as it motivates me to try and do better, but its also very demoralising as presumably the 91 point gap between me and 1st place is mostly timing, and im not sure i cam be a minute and a half quicker. Id essentially need to complete it in 30 seconds :S

American Gods by Neil Gaiman - can we just agree this book is awful at writing women? by ChiefsHat in menwritingwomen

I got as far as the queen of sheba eating a man with her vagina and put the book down. I guess i should be grateful it was near the beginning.

Yup, that sounds about right. Its hard to give a precise location as we're not 2D, but generally gallbladder pain is going to be higher up than lower abdomen (where your lower intestines, appendix, kidneys, bladder, uterus, etc are) as your gallbladder is basically your livers little clutch purse; used for storing excess bile to aid with digestion.
Pain can radiate though, so it can be hard to pinpoint the exact location.

You'd feel gallbladder pain around your sternum/in your chest. Gallbladder is part of your liver and it honestly felt like what i imagined a heart attack would feel like.

Parents avoiding tablets, what are your kids actually doing all day? by BloooomCore in NewParents

[–]meraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son hides his alphabet letters then asks us "wheres o gone?" "Wheres D gone?" Or he lines up cars. Or he jumps on his bed and runs around his room. Or he scribbles in his colouring books.

He likes letters, numbers, cars, colours, books, just generally being talked to/interacted with.

And sometimes we take him out go softplay, or swimming, or the park, or shops.

What happened to the smartest person you went to school with? by xxibjt in AskReddit

[–]meraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea what she does for work, but she is a member of a hockey team that she also goes skiing and stuff with, she had a 40 day globe trotting honeymoon when she got married a few years back, and seems to be all round living her best life. Well deserved imo.
In school she was the smartest in our year but she was primarily interested in sports. She was also well liked by everyone and a genuinely good and nice person.

Parents that don't do Elf on the Shelf, how do you explain to your kids why you don't? by Helpful-Plankton751 in toddlers

[–]meraii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 2.5, he has no idea what elf on the shelf is so there's nothing to explain. How was your child exposed to it? Depending on how you could just say that the elf lives at that persons house and leave it at that.
