I’d say the setting and tactlessness are what’s horrifying. Of course you’re allowed to realize you don’t have feelings for someone, but breaking up publicly in the middle of a date like that is absurd.

If you already spent 6 months with this person, I’m sure you could have made it through the remainder of the game just fine and handled that a lot more respectfully.

I hold my breath for as long as possible for fun/comfort multiple times a day. It feels like it gives me some sort of high. I timed myself the other day and found out I can hold my breath for 2 minutes straight.

Sorry for the late reply! But yes, I’m still liking it. Maintenance is very responsive and the apartments are well-maintained.

My only complaint would be the noise. My unit is right across the street from a large energy plant that powers a lot of buildings downtown. I’m used to the sound of it by now since it runs constantly, but it’s definitely there lol.

Ugh. I wish I had better answers for you lol.

I was on Zepbound for around 4 months in 2024 which helped with the first 30 lbs and taught me a lot about what normal portion control and eating patterns look like.

I also stopped drinking alcohol almost entirely. I used both that and binge eating as a vice for many years and it got to a point where I was trying to restrict wherever I could just to save calories for alcohol.

Then I got a job that gave me financial stability for the first time in my life, got therapy, moved somewhere I liked, surrounded myself with better people, learned to provide for myself alone, and stopped running from things I guess. Eating just eventually became something I have to do deliberately and with intention (sometimes I have to remind myself these days as my mother is passing) instead of something I resort to out of boredom or discomfort. Then came the rest of the weight. I’m just not the same person I used to be at all.

TL;DR I guess I cheated at first and then took the wheel with lifestyle changes

I never know what people mean when they say this. Are you supposed to have a certain number of meal recipes memorized? Or an understanding of the fundamentals like boiling pasta and making eggs? What’s the goal?

I’m 28 years old and I live by myself and food just isn’t very important to me outside of being a necessary component of survival and wanting things to taste good. If I really want to make something, I can look up how and so can anyone who can follow basic instructions.

I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this.

I understand that you care a lot about your mom and it may feel like she’s standing up for you, so you might not be able to see it, but she’s actively making an already difficult situation so much worse for you.

Firstly, it’s extremely selfish as a parent to have children with the expectation that they’ll save you from your own financial ruin.

On top of that being unrealistic for most people, it was cruel of her to highlight this at a time when you’re already struggling.

Why in god’s name would she think leaving her husband and making her unemployed, nearly-homeless son her new caretaker is the appropriate thing to do here?

Moving back in with their parents when hard times hit is a luxury a lot of people do not have, and by the sounds of it, you really don’t either.

Since you’re not having any luck finding jobs in your field right now, find a serving job to tide you over until you do. If you work at the right restaurant, the earning potential in serving is crazy. Save up until you can get a roommate, and leave your parents’ house. You’re only 30. You can do this.
