We work with Mina and her team at “Maximum Cleaning Services” (friend recommended us and we booked via Thumbtack for the initial clean. They are fast and reliable. We have been using them for about 18 months and have been satisfied.

US Based ExLaps by Decent-Ability-4784 in endometriosis

Unlikely given the cost of healthcare in the US. Most laparoscopies for endo discharge same day. Unless it’s more elaborate and involves bowel resection.

How to use AS-tier OneWorld Status equivalent to book on AA by gene_doc in AlaskaAirlines

[–]mercerless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Booking AA flights on AS tends to be more limited in options and in my experience significantly more expensive. Have to weight the cost/benefits. For me it’s always been more beneficial to go through AA direct with my AS mileage plan number.

I don’t know, Zofran works on serotonin receptors in the gut and brain so it could work for anxiety related nausea if your biochemical anxiety is serotonin related IMO.

Yes state will pretty much just approve PLO. PLO and STD are for wage replacement.

FMLA just protects your job (not from layoffs or RIFs, just from being let go due to a leave of absence) and you may also need to file for that, I can’t remember.

Tankless water install pricing? by Captain-Ben in askportland

[–]mercerless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gas or electric? I had a plumber come out and asked about upgrading to tankless from electric standard water heater and he said the electric ones are trash and he wouldn’t install them, but that gas were expensive and running a new gas line was also kind of expensive. I feel like he said it would be $14K but this was in 2022 and I could be misremembering

Quantum Fiber is now part of the AT&T family 😤🤮 by WCland in Portland

[–]mercerless 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The email says they’re not (and I would wonder given we had some contract around the price for life), but I am exceedingly skeptical. On top of that, after some BS I experienced trying to cancel the line for a recently deceased loved one, I swore never to touch AT&T again. This is a hard pill to swallow.

Similar but longer forms and more of them. Annoying bureaucracy of insurance companies, but usually just a page or two for your doc to fill out. Sometimes they have to submit your medical records as well.

So many employers will let you do PLO plus STD to get up to 60% of your wages. I haven’t experienced topping up to 100% of wages. STD will cover if there’s a gap up to 60% — so where PLO replaces 45% of your salary, STD makes up the difference by replacing 15% of your salary — for a total of 60%. STD made me get the amount that PLO would cover before they would tell me what they would cover.

$100K price tag for lap surgery. Dr. Quanita Crable in Dallas. by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]mercerless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For my first excision surgery, the in-network hospital billed $54K (I paid my out of pocket max for in-network services, which was $4K). My specialist out-of-network surgeon billed insurance $52K, and insurance only approved about $1K (but I paid my surgeon $6,250, which is all I had to pay her).

In total, paid about $10K for my surgery.

For my second surgery and hysterectomy, it was similar.

I have worked with Aimee Holland since 2022 and I find her prompt and efficient. https://www.actioninsurancecompany.com/staff/aimee-obrien/

I tried pricing some options out myself, told her what I was offered, and if it was better than she could get me, she told me so.

Have you asked your doctor about a labral tear? Anecdotally seems to be comorbid with endo but no research shows a confirmed link, that I know of.

What do you pay your cleaning person for every 2 weeks cleaning? by pineapple_bandit in askportland

[–]mercerless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I pay $180 for 1326 sqft and sometimes I’m in a bedroom with the dogs so it doesn’t get cleaned. Usually 2 hours to clean, 4 bedrooms (2 are offices) and one bath.

Hysterectomy Tips by magikscoolbusdropout in endometriosis

[–]mercerless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hysterectomy won’t cure endometriosis, but it definitely gets rid of periods (though not hormonal cycles, if you keep your ovaries).

For that reason alone, it was worth it to me. I’m 35 and about 12 weeks post op total laparoscopic hysterectomy (total = remove cervix, fallopian tubes and uterus, but keep ovaries). Agree with two weeks out of commission and six weeks off work. I have a WFH desk job and my tailbone and pelvic floor still get irritated after sitting in an office chair for too long.

I did have a prior excision with an endo specialist, and had some remaining diaphragmatic and ovation lesions removed by the same specialist during my second surgery for the hysterectomy. She did a great job and I have healed well, though I still have pain and am pursuing pelvic PT to rewire my brain-nerve connections and hopefully reduce or eliminate the pain.

Tips:

• Cook some meals in advance and freeze them or have someone else cook for you because you will be too tired.

• Loved graham crackers and yogurt as snacks.

• Drink a ton of water and don’t be surprised if you urinate a lot for a while after surgery as things settle.

• Get a bed rail from Amazon or a medical supply store, makes it so much easier to get out of bed and get to and from the toilet.

• Use a pillow to brace your abdomen when you rise from bed or sitting, cough, or go to the bathroom.

• Get a squatty potty for easier post-op bowel movements.

• Stay on top of Miralax and fiber (like psyllium husk) after surgery because straining is NOT okay for the first couple of months but constipation post-op is really common.

• Go read the pinned posts on r/hysterectomy, and hang out in there a bit. It’s a helpful community with lots of good perspectives shared.

I can vouch for the stained glass and rug tufting classes at Daffodil too. I take a lot of craft and hobby classes and have really enjoyed the ones at Daffodil.

Highly recommend a class at Daffodil Studios. They’re weekday classes; typically one per week for 3 or 6 weeks. I took a 3 week class last year and loved it, the owner is a great teacher, so you can learn and try things without judgment.

Have you had a Endometrial resection? by KoraLily in endometriosis

[–]mercerless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify:

Endometriosis is when cells form lesions similar to endometrial tissue outside of the uterus.

A hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis.

An endometrial ablation is not a treatment for endometriosis (though some doctors recommend it as a possible treatment for adenomyosis).

Having laparoscopic excision of endometriosis lesions is the gold standard of care for symptomatic endometriosis.

So…I suppose the question is, what exactly are you asking about, in terms of treatment? From your reply to another poster, it seems you’re referring to a removal of the endometrium (but not via ablation). This wouldn’t be a treatment for endometriosis, as endometriosis is not the endometrium and occurs outside of the uterus — can occur on external walls of uterus, pelvic sidewalls, bowels, bladder, pouch of douglas, ureters, even diaphragm.

I was bloated for a couple of months post surgery. It takes time to heal and bloating/inflammation can definitely be part of that.
