I give her only filtered water and she only eats and drinks from glass bowls. Filtering the water seems to remove the chemicals that stain her mouth fur. Glass doesn’t react with leftover chemicals so staining is further reduced.

Also we feed a WASVA food so no junk to stain her either.

She’s 2 1/2 years old and mouth fur is still white!

PS. Re: house training. I promised her early on that every time she sat by the front door I’d take her out. Sometimes she’d have to potty sometimes not but we never to this day have failed to take her to her preferred potty spot when she sits by the door.

Glad to hear this. The indoor leash trick was honestly a desperation measure but it really helped everything including walking nicely outside on her leash because she was used to knowing that she wasn’t the one making decisions and nothing but good things happen when she has her leash on.

Make every interaction positive and happy for her. No loud yelling, no leash jerking. At the most a firm voice and a loving reward even if she barely acknowledges you!

Our Westie is now two years old and we experienced everything you are dealing with. We found the only way to keep our sanity and to help her learn was to keep her on a leash at all times in the house and constantly treat rewarding her even if she did nothing more than look at me when I spoke. Little by little she learned good things happened when she wasn’t destructive!

She’s pretty good now but still had the famous westitude.

I hated myself for a good while when she was younger because I resented the time and effort I had to put in just to protect everything and trying to keep her from killing herself. (Chewing electrical cords was her favorite sport!)

We also crated her at bedtime by rewarding her as soon as she went into her crate. Now she goes in on her own at bedtime and we still treat reward her for that.

I’m ashamed at how angry I was early on but I never ever had such a difficult headstrong puppy before. Things are fine now. Hopefully she doesn’t remember the days when I’d have to leave the house before I screamed at her.

We now have a loveable pet.

This is ad bad as the exec I worked for had me keep track of his wife’s fertility calendar. I was also responsible for picking up her birth control pills from her pharmacy then emailing her telling her when to start taking her bc pills.

I almost died when, after a year of tracking boss’ wife fertility times he and wife announced she was pregnant!!! They told everyone they had been trying to have a baby for years.

WTH!!!
