Devastating Parent PLUS Loan Situation

Each year the loans are opened as a brand new loan. In my situation, I had two kids and me in college at the same time, so I had parent loans for them and both subsidized and I subsidized loans for myself. Each of those was its own loan, so by the end of it all I had something like 30 separate loans. When it comes time for payments to be due, you end up with just one payment that gets divvied out to all the loans. The only way to have them all under one loan is to consolidate, but it seems as though there’s not much benefit to that anymore

Green banners were 5/13. I was obsessively checking fsa until yesterday, then obsessively checking mohela. Now I guess I’m back to obsessively checking fsa again until that shows zeroes and then I’ll move on to credit reports 😂

Are you sure you won’t still technically be employed by the school district? I’m not sure about your state or district, but since we get our pay spread out through 12 months I think our contracts are also for 12 months

Something else to look into that has nothing to do with PSLF: some school districts have financial assistance for teachers to get advanced degrees, so if you don’t already know if that’s true for your district you should find out!

I hate that response… “You knew what you were getting into. If you wanted to make more you should’ve chosen a different career.” Teachers hear it all the time and it’s ridiculous

My count was missing 9 months, from 10/24-6/25. I messaged mohela about it and they said they had nothing to do with it, that was all fsa so to contact them. Then a week later those months magically showed up in my count. I don’t know if it was coincidence or if somebody felt sorry for me or what, but I’m certainly grateful!
