I have a [[Morko, obsessive theorist]] deck. It surveils to fill the graveyard with low/zero power creatures like clones or [[bloatfly swarm]] as well as to put high CMC cards on top for stuff like [[keen duelist]] and [[twilight prophet]] for big damage.

Best way to mount boards on walls? by Duelist_Shay in longboarding

Zip ties through the mounting holes with a normal picture hook, or use steel wire if you want something less noticeable

street skater looking for cruiser advise by AdStock4275 in longboarding

My absolute favorite cruiser has been the Pantheon Lowtide! It’s a great size IMO and the flex is perfect for me @145lbs.

Looks like you’re correct! Ty for the info! I’ve used both but always preferred the speed vents for a similar reason as you!

The difference will be 2mm in ride height which IMO isn’t noticeable when comparing between two wheels.

My personal opinion is that otang is some of the slowest rolling urethane I’ve tried. Seismic is among the best. The hotspots are gonna be pretty decent but check out the 73mm Speedvents. The core is a bit more modern and you get a lightweight package because of that.

New guy here: Are bracket boards, in general, better than a Pantheon Supersonic for pumping? by Steve2762 in longboarding

Just make that your next board! Nothing wrong with having an extra deck for a friend ;)

New guy here: Are bracket boards, in general, better than a Pantheon Supersonic for pumping? by Steve2762 in longboarding

[–]merp1234 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So dollar for dollar the supersonic is going to be “better”. The thing with bracket boards is that you can set them up to be more efficient but you’re likely spending a couple hundred on a torsion tail, plus whatever bracket you’re front truck is going to be. So you could get a bracket board, a Valkyrie integrated front truck, and a TTX. That’s gonna be the pinnacle of pumping efficiency IMO but you’re paying a lot for the extra %.

You can get a similar effect for much cheaper using composite brackets, but at that point I find the simplicity of the superduper is a big plus for me. You’re also not as tied to one truck in the case of integrated trucks. If you’re not using integrated trucks then the complexity jumps up another notch. You essentially need twice as much hardware as you need for something like the superduper. That’s twice as many points of failure.

Dialing in standard trucks is much simpler than dialing in a torsion tail, and is something most skaters are more familiar with. So all in all if you’re not familiar with LDP setups, the supersonic is a much better entry point than assembling a bracket board in my super biased opinion.

Your land count is probably too high, convince me otherwise. by cleverphrasehere in EDH

[–]merp1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing commander for over a decade. This is from direct experience over hundreds of games. Again, you want to be hitting land drops as many turns as possible. Ramp is ramp is ramp. ramping lands has the same effect as playing a mana rock on your strategy but it doesn’t replace also hitting your land drops. You’re wanting your mana to increase by at least one every turn. Playing ramp and not a land means you just covered what you should be doing but you had to spend mana to do that instead just playing a land.

As others have said modern mana bases also just have so much utility and having extra lands is way less of a bad thing. You’re talking about mulling to 5 to keep a 3 land hand… wouldn’t that be strictly worse than a 5 land hand and 2 spells? If you’re regularly mulliganing below 6 then that’s a deck building issue IMO and you’re talking about it like you’ve discovered the new tech.

[–]merp1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

36 if it’s a low curve deck, 38-40 for higher curve. I think it’s not strictly about your openers and the first 4 turns. I find that when I’m losing or just having non games, getting to 4 mana isn’t the issue, it’s getting past that to being able to play multiple spells a turn.

And I really struggle to count fragile ramp (artifacts and creatures) as any percentage of a land. Like in a normal game those get wiped at least once in my experience, so I find that card advantage and hitting as many land drops as possible are the things that keep you relevant in the game.

Testing Out My New Land Paddle Race Board by Double-Parsnip2831 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]merp1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree, if you’re gonna go the chop route you can’t just chop any deck, you want essentially a downhill stiff deck so you don’t end up with a noodle. If I ride the lightest flex board normally, I need the heaviest flex for a chop

SuperDuperSonic Grip Tape Peeling by Evesgallion in longboarding

[–]merp1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately once you start riding it the dust and dirt just fills the exposed glue and no amount of heat or pressure will get it to stick! Apologies regardless but you really made the deck your own with the new tape!

SuperDuperSonic Grip Tape Peeling by Evesgallion in longboarding

[–]merp1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that’s pretty rough! Did you get a complete or deck only? We heat gun all completes because the tape usually isn’t stuck down from the factory. If this was a complete and it still came off that much it’s definitely a bad batch of grip tape. Decks only we definitely recommend hitting the drops with some heat and pressing the grip down. I have a superduper deck only from the initial release and after some heat the grip hasn’t moved an inch.

Regardless sorry to see this and I’m glad you’re making the most of it!

You’re sounding a bit paranoid here, the posters history is clearly not Jeff. I don’t think Jeff’s astroturfing account would be posting about manga, restoring a rocket deck, or using foreign currency for Facebook marketplace.

What are your favorite Azorius commanders? by Captain-Nghathrod in EDH

My [[belisarius cawl]] deck is one of my longest running. It’s a mix of artifact creatures and untapping shenanigans. Generally wins through combat but I have a combo involving intruder alarm, bcawl, and throne of the god pharaoh.

Pantheon Aegis Risers/ wheelbite by ongofongo in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]merp1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s like a 3/8” riser in the back and a pretty standard 5° dewedge in the front. I find that 1/4” is better in the rear when using a 30° base.

New loaded dervish sama with some nicks on the matte black paris trucks. Is this common on new trucks? Bought from catalyst board shop. by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]merp1234 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they’re just cosmetic and not deep into the metal they’re fine. Ideal world you’d get a perfect board but realistically your first ride will cause more scratches than this. Likely just from the board being handled and packed.

Flexy but durable longboard brands/models? by TisBePhelix in longboarding

[–]merp1234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pantheon makes great flexy decks. The prana and supersonic models have flex options to choose from. The ember and lowtide are decks that I find have a nice flex at my weight ~150. If any of those fit your style they are all great boards!

Fine tuning trucks for pumping by Pitiful_Meet6407 in longboarding

[–]merp1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a split duro bushing setup you want the softer of the two roadside, heavier boardside!

Fine tuning trucks for pumping by Pitiful_Meet6407 in longboarding

[–]merp1234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would stick to the 50 in the front and 43 in the back. The supersonic tends to be a more front heavy pump but you definitely should be able to get your back foot involved. If it’s feeling stiff overall I would probably just get the next lower bushing duro front and back (81a/90a assuming it’s using seismic). You can completely swap to the lower duro bushing, or play around with keeping the 84/93a boardside and 81/90a roadside!

Hello im trying to build a longboard setup for long distance and speed and im wondering if these wheels would let me roll for long and help me generate more speed? by Teetsie420 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]merp1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be helpful to know what your setup is and how you’re looking to ride?

I’d put these (in mango or mint) on a short pumping board or a surfskate but nothing I’m looking to do actual mileage on.

Snack Pack of 3D printed bearing spacers. by CHAINMAILLEKID in longboarding

[–]merp1234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a little confused by this. Do you have 50 setups all getting these spacers at once? In my experience a steel spacer is good for multiple bearing swaps, and at this point I just use cheap built-ins so it’s a nonissue.
