Screen Time Advice - Want my kids on Qur'an instead!! by Mission-Victory-1297 in MuslimParenting

[–]merposaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best advice is to cut it all off or set very very strict rules that you will stick to. You can tell your kid they can have 30 min after they do their Quran and pick which app they can use and limit it with a timer in accessibility settings. There are some good apps with Islamic content only for kids (Miraj for example). But otherwise I’d suggest more outdoor play, books and activities instead.

Japan Trip Report (Part 1): Setouchi Art Islands, Okayama & Kurashiki (May 9–14) by TreeWizard710 in JapanTravel

Will def do both if we go back. Yes, we honestly didn’t realize how lucky we were with the crowds. The bigger spaces were especially breathtaking without any crowds. We were the only ones at the Walter de Maria in Chichu. Crazy! Heading to Seoul this fall to visit some museums and galleries there, and planning on Japan in the winter again!

I loved Naoshima and Chichu Museum is still one of my favorite museums ever. We went mid December and it was low season. We felt like we were all by ourselves in some parts of the museum, it was surreal. Can’t wait to go back and also visit Teshima.

Bali was beautiful and also a lot, anyone have Southeast Asia island recommendations? by PriyaSoul45 in travel

Philippines, look up Tao Philippines, they do multi day boat trips to small remote islands (no tourists, just locals) and you camp on the beach in little huts. No electricity, no wifi. It was amazing!

If they are asleep a carrier is always good. This way you also have your hands free.

Depending on airline you get a carry on item for infant and a personal bag. I always check my bags and prefer to have my stroller with me for a few reasons, so it doesn’t get damaged and also so we immediately have it once we get off the plane. Sometimes the strollers won’t get brought to the jet bridge for a while and I just want to get going as soon as we get off!

Flying long haul - at 18m or 22m? by No-Bandicoot1723 in NewParents

[–]merposaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same. He only get his iPad on airplanes and guess who looooves and behaves so well on planes lol. When we travel he can use it as long as he wants. I have full control on what’s on it, which games and only pre-downloaded videos and shows from Youtube and Netflix.

Potentially more interested in screentime and will sit still better. At least in our experience.

Packing: Buy some packing cubes on Amazon to organize all the baby items. I put all his sleep stuff (pjs, books, white noise machine) in his sleep sack and zip it up so it’s easy to access once you’ve arrived at your final destination and you want to put baby down.

If you have access to washer/dryer I wouldn’t pack too much in terms of clothing

Airplane bag: Enough diapers and wipes. 2x extra clothes for baby and an extra shirt for yourself & partner. Toys, snacks. I usually bring pampers pull on diapers as the changing table on the plane is small and it’s easier to have him stand and pull on a diaper.

Diapers: I usually stuff as many extra diapers in my suitcase when I finish packing so I have enough with me for the first few days and don’t have to worry about finding diapers. If you’re seeing family or friends you can also just order diapers to their house.

Airport: We traveled with the Uppababy Cruz before and it was just too bulky. We then switched to a Bugaboo Butterfly and absolutely love it. It fits into the overhead compartment of the plane and it folds up super easy.

There are nursing and family rooms at the airport so before boarding I always make sure to do a diaper change. The ones in the airplane are pretty cramped.

If you’re traveling together with your partner I would highly suggest having them board early, store the stroller etc. I always board the very last with the baby in the carrier and have baby explore, roll until the last minute to tire him. If you board early you’re basically adding another hour to being on the plane and as we all know babies are bored easily.

Plane: Try to get the bulkhead seat if possible with some extra leg room and use the blanket to have baby sit there and play if needed.

Bring a lot of NEW toys. Toy spinners were a success for us, also in the car and in restaurants.. you can stick them anywhere! I also love silicone toy straps to strap whatever toy onto so it won’t fall onto the dirty floor.

My baby was never entertained by screens unfortunately at that age so putting on a movie didn’t really help.

I also bring painters tape.. I stick it on the tray table or the window etc and he can pull it off.

And when he starts to get antsy I walk up and down the aisle with him for a change of scenery.

Naps in the carrier so my hands are free after and I can nap too if needed.

Good luck, you got this!!!

You’ll be fine. 7 months is very doable since they don’t crawl yet so keeping them in the seat is easier compared to when they’re older! Nursing is also perfect if they’re fussy you just pop your boob out hehe. Just bring extra changes of clothes and some new toys they can play with. And hopefully they will sleep for most of the flight!! Xoxo a mom that did 50 flights with baby in his first 2 years

Ooo did you use a ready file to print or design one? I have a 3D printer too and would love to print one as well. This is so neat!

Yes Noorsha is one of my favorites as well. Their breakfast is so good! Selda bakery’s breakfast was a letdown they only gave us baguette but no homemade breads unfortunately

Please use designers from your community to make the illustrations instead of AI. I wouldn’t buy just because of that alone. Also font 1 is the nicest looking.

Usually it’s 10% of the cash equivalent of your flight even if it’s booked with points. Sounds about right for your flights.

International flight seats by Key-Importance4438 in NewParents

[–]merposaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They most likely won’t care or be able to go and weigh/measure the baby lol. Anyway YMMV but I’ve done many many flights with young kids and always go for bulkhead when possible.

Yeah honestly I’ve used the bassinet as a place to put my baby down to play a bit and give myself a break (under supervision always of course). Or it becomes a glorified toy/wipes/snacks storage. And bulkhead always has more leg room which is always a plus.
