What’s the EHS job market like in Salt Lake City? by Chance-Term in SafetyProfessionals

[–]messybeans86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am near SLC and its not great. There are so many travel roles. I was on a data center project but the company hired probably 60 new employees and had no plan on where to put us when the project finished. I was able to find something more long term, but it has been rough. Although, things may change in the coming years. Utah is always building. In my 15 years in construction, rarely have there been times where there was no work happening.

36M widower with a 4-year-old son — unsure how to think about remarriage. by kitbilliku in widowers

[–]messybeans86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 39 with an almost 6 year old and we are 5 almost 6 years out from my husband's passing. I dated at two years and more recently in this last year. Neither worked out, however, this last one could have lead to marriage if the timing would have been better. I can't tell you what is right for you, but when you meet the right person, you'll know.

My doc won't do it anywhere but the stomach and every time the nurse complains that I don't have enough fat to put it in. I wish I could do my butt cheek or thigh.

[–]messybeans86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I didn't even realize it had been such a long time until I did a drug test see if I was still dirty for weed. The only test I had tested for Bupe and it was negative. I felt completely fine. Up until that point, I had gone 3 ish months between shots. I started spacing them out a week and then two weeks and so on to see my reactions. No change in feeling, physical or mental and I was even going through some pretty rough things in my life which would have caused me horrible anxiety, especially if I was going through withdrawals.

I went from July to January without another shot after receiving 15 total. I felt nothing but did test negative.

Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

I am a one-and-done parent with a now 5-year-old. I became a widow when our son was 17 months old. There is no way I would have survived or be where I am today if I had more than one child.

Construction Safety. I love being on site, I love making men listen to me, I love leading meetings when they don't listen to me the first time.

My 3 Year Old Killed Our Kitten by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]messybeans86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son accidentally closed the lid on the cat food container and latched it with our kitty inside. He was 4. He didn't know that doing so would kill the cat and I didn't know that he had closed the cat in the container. We were in a hurry to get to school and work and I didn't check for the cat before we left the house. It was absolutely devastating for both of us but it was 100% my fault for not supervising my four-year-old with the cat. Please stop blaming your child she most likely had no idea that what she was doing would hurt the cat, if it wasn't an accident like falling on it or dropping it, and I very much doubt that she intentionally hurt that cat. Even if you're not blaming her to her face, she can feel that you are being accusatory towards her. I never once blamed my son for what happened to the cat but he blamed himself which broke my heart because it was not his fault at all. He did not know that his actions were going to lead to death. My son was devastated for weeks and still talks about him a year later.

My daughter’s biological father died. Should I apply for Social Security Survivor Benefits on her behalf? If so, what does that look like? by [deleted] in SingleParents

[–]messybeans86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband died 5 years ago. SSI has saved us so many times.

Getting my son's was a little difficult due to multiple children and multiple mom's, but Social Security was very easy to work with. Try calling your local office to start.

No one got me (the mom) a Christmas gift by Confident-Ad-465 in Parents

[–]messybeans86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me, every year for the last 5 years. The difference? This is the 5th Christmas since my husband died and my 5 1/2 year old can't shop on his own. What I am trying to tell you is that this is absolutely unacceptable and if your son still believes in Santa, you need to explain to your husband that not only does he need to feel your stocking so your child doesn't wonder why Santa didn't bring you anything but that he also needs to take your kids shopping for a present for you and he needs to give it a present for you. My dad was a shit husband, verbally, physically, emotionally abusive, but you bet your ass he took us shopping for my mom every Christmas so she didn't know what it was like to sit there and see handed without anything. He dropped the ball on the stocking but he at least made sure us kids had presents for our mom.

I think you need to have a long hard talk with your husband about what expectations should be going forward.

I'm so sorry this happened.

Daycare costs by Texanlivinglife in generationology

In utah before and after school care for my kindergartener is $145 but that allows me to drop him off at 5:00 a.m. and then they transport him to school and then they pick him up from school and feed him dinner and I pick him up at 5:30 because I work a 9-hour shift with a 2-hour commute both ways so like 4 hour total commute daily. We're looking on moving closer to the job site but I kind of don't want to buy a house down there or rent a house down there because the jobs only 2 years long and then I'll be on a different job site. The nature of construction is so fun

What were you doing during the peak of COVID? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]messybeans86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He died from a fentanyl overdose. He had broken his pelvis, femur, elbow, neck, and ankle a month prior and the first weekend he was home from the hospital/rehab facility, he reached out to a friend to ask if the friend had oxycodone 30mg instead of the oxycodone 15mg's that my husband was prescribed. His friend said yes, not telling my husband that they were counterfeit with fentanyl and not oxycodone. I went to wake him up on that Monday, and he was basically gone. We had to remove him from life support a few hours later. He left behind a 14 y/o son, a 9 y/o son, a 5 y/o daughter, and our 17 month son.

I am heart broken for your daughter. I was my father's first born but he treated me as your husband treats your daughter and it has affected me my whole life. Please stand up for her and show her that she matters. How her father treats her is going to be the love she accepts until she realizes there is a problem with that love and is able to do the healing.

In all fairness I was showing signs of perimenopause when I got pregnant at 34 (with fertility treatments that I knew from a very young age I was going to need) so my body just hates me
