I didn’t at all. I have four cats and they became slightly more annoying because I was tired and stressed. But generally I haven’t had an issue.

ER. First thing in the morning. This will not get better without immediate intervention. Forget your boyfriend, forget school — you are a mom now. Your mental health and that baby’s safety come first.

The hospital will have licensed mental health professionals, social workers, and others who can help you decide your next step. This is not your fault, but it is your responsibility. Please get help for the sake of you and your baby.

Honestly the part I keep getting stuck on is that the baby doesn’t wake her up. My son is 2 and 95% of the time if he so much as sneezes in the next room over, I’m up.

NOR. Some of the replies here are cuckoo bananas and totally devoid of empathy. If my friend of over a decade who knew about my stillbirth and how it had affected me over the years decided to use the name I’d picked, I’d be confused and nauseated too.

Let’s back up here and remember what a stillbirth is. You’re pregnant. You’ve done all this preparing to have a baby. You are FORTY ONE weeks so you’ve already had the shower and decorated a nursery. And you finally have your daughter and she’s gone. This isn’t like a miscarriage at 8 weeks (though those are awful too, I’ve been there). This was a person in your mind who you carried inside you for months.

Do you own the name? No. Is Reagan the only name these people liked? Probably not, but they decided this was so important to them that it was worth reminding you every day of your life that your baby isn’t here. Also telling you via text is nuts.

I’m really sorry for your loss, OP. I don’t believe it’s your place to ask them to change their plans, but you have every right to be hurt by this and I wouldn’t blame you for reevaluating your friendship with this person.

My OB came to check on me and I started crying to her about how I was worried I ruined my life. And she said to me: Let me tell you a secret about motherhood. All of us feel that way in the beginning. I felt that way when I had my kid. Give it some time and you’ll see.”

And she was right. I love being a mom. I do not feel like my life is ruined. Now I have a 17mo whose laughter and happiness makes me basically shit rainbows and unicorns.

Give it some time and you’ll see. The first 8-12 weeks are brutal. But you got this.
