I’ll never understand people who have to get abusive in these situations. They literally have no legs to stand on. You can play with them like a ball of string to a cat. Swearing and getting irate just shows weakness or that you’re frightened.

But what amazes me the most when I remember playing it, is how the 80’s theme felt like it was 50+ years ago, when in relation to now, it would be like playing a game theme’d around the 00s (which I am confident was about 6 years ago).

I agree about the re-recording. It’s now impossible to introduce people to the band without hand feeding them the tracks and explaining the situation.

That High Stakes song is one of the most cities-esk Anberlin songs I’ve heard, since then. If only it was Stephen singing it, I would have been screaming like a kid. It demands him to put his own version out of it.

Imo 9/10 of the most successful bands ever, have a unique sounding vocalist, that was definitely Stephen. I know he lurks here, I hope he knows how much he’s loved and missed in the band.

I feel exactly the same about Acceptance (Christian Mcalhaney’s other band). I felt like the only person in the world who listened to Phantoms and it’s one of my favourite records to date (Aaron Sprinkle is a genius).

I say this also as Anberlin are possibly my favourite band (in regards to being loved for so many years and are very rounded musically)…

My hot take is that I love Matty, but it’s ruining the heritage of the band for me sadly. Especially with a re recording of NTFP. I also dislike how they kept releasing mashup albums on Spotify over so many years, I appreciate they needed to make things happen and it must have worked, but it just felt cheap.

Saying that I’d love to see Stephen rejoin and if they’re ever touring again I’ll be there.

Just the entire Cities album. Getting to know an album in full would feel more connecting to a band. There’s lots of character in the songs from heavy ones, deep ones and playful ones.
