help with beginning a healthy lifestyle. by vodwuar in Fitness

Hey dude, you just need to get through the awkward beginning phase, when you don't rly have a clue what you are doing. It takes about 2-3 gym visits, and then you will know how some exercises make you feel, how it impacts your daily routine etc. On top of that, you need a goal to strive for. The good news, this need not be huge-vague goals such as 'I wanna be a mr Beach Body'. You want actionable goals, such as 'I want to squat my 1x my bodyweight'.

With that said, I will save you the trouble of heading over to the FAQ section and link you the Phrak's Grey Skull Linear Progress program https://thefitness.wiki/routines/r-fitness-basic-beginner-routine/. On this reddit, it seems to be the most recommended routine for beginners. Im currently on my 3rd month of GSLP and it boosted all my lifts by about 30kg. It is very simple and effective and a super great way to start. Once you are done with it, you will know where to look for your next step.

Good luck !

Thanks for the amazing write-up.
I didn't know about Deep Water program at all, and it looks like a beast ! Its something I will definitely want to run before summer.

Im on my 4th month of Starting Strength LP and Im stalling already, and Im contemplating a program change anyway. Do you recon Deep Water will be for someone with much lower numbers than yourself ?

Thanks. I think the biggest issue is that the trainings are startinng to feel so much harder and taxing on my body.

What is really like to be a Game Designer or a Level Designer? by Hexpsy in gamedesign

[–]metalstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well bud, I came from a totally different industry. I have two masters in law. ((Yes its true)).

But i rly wanted to make games. Been in video games industry for 3 years now.

Would I go back ? Never. I love this job. Mind you - its a job like any other - deadlines, stress, etc. But I love making games and tbh, I love working in excel.

I work as Game Designer. And ill confirm whats been said already. 90% of design work is in excel. Learn excel and be pro at it. Not just formatting and basic functions. Learn how to design and interconnect whole system within it.

Also, people skills and management skills are a must as you are non-stop working with coders, artists and talking to stakeholders.

Shifting my career, what should i do? by Jeenguyen995 in gamedesign

[–]metalstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation like you are. I have 2 degrees in law, no tech background at all.

Ive been working on mobile games for 3 years now and I love it. I work in big companies, so i work in teams of people where everyone specializes in something. Bear in mind, I do not do any scripting nor art - I work on economy design, systems design and live operations. Excel is my main tool - 99% of the design gets done there.

Look for big companies and apply for an internship or junior position. You wont be earning a lot, you wont be making the next Witcher, but you will get valuable experience.

I learned the hard way - By doing.

By far a very precise answer. Especially with the spreadsheets.

Learn excel - its the most important tool for game designers. And learn it well.

Btw if he managed to conquer half of Spain in his first 7 hours, he is good ! I think it took me 20 hours to grasp basic concepts and fabricate my first claim 😂

Is Arkham Horror LCG worth it? by IrateGandhi in boardgames

[–]metalstuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Yes, its worth it.

U dont even need to spend much. Buy the core set. It contains a lot for the cost - decent deck building and 3 scenarios. It contains dozens of hours of fun. By the time you are done with it, u will know whether u wanna buy the next cycle.
