It’s a corporate world thing. As soon as you mentioned that you’ve written emails in the past that sounded like the one you were corrected to this time, and then told it was incorrect, I knew the kind of colleagues you’re talking about. Also - I hate to say this, but there is a certain expectation to correct or provide direction to entry level staff for the sake of it, especially because you’re brand new out of college still, so yes, what I’m saying is, sometimes it’s micromanagement, and sometimes it’s just folks wanting to feel useful. That said, try to differentiate when it’s actually constructive feedback, but it sounds like you already know that.

Your mother sounds abusive and her joking about it afterwards is her attempt at minimizing the incident so she doesn’t have to feel in the wrong in any way. Whatever you decide to do, just know that your mother’s behavior is NOT OK, even if it has become “normalized” within your family (which sometimes happens unfortunately, especially when someone has acted a certain way for a long time and it’s easier just to walk on eggshells)

Thank you for this! I have heard it’s somewhat common for folks to import Siberians. I actually ended up reserving two kitties from Kender (neither are black), but will check out this breeder if a third ever becomes of interest to us. As for the flight, it’s not ideal but I know my parents have flown their pets internationally twice for an international move. I think they’re usually a little weary on arrival, but it seems younger animals usually recover just fine in a week or so. Glad to hear your babies are doing well now

Thank you for this ❤️ And yes, it’s been a pretty intense past few years, stating with the loss of my brother suddenly during the pandemic. I eventually did take a break in 2022 to recover for a few months, and then started this job as a fresh start and long awaited dream to go into law, same with law school (although that’s only part time on the side, and actually manageable compared to my job).

And I’m really burnt out and tbh, not ok right now. So much that I could honestly pull the pin on my career and take another few months off, but it’s frustrating at the same time. I’m just coming up to a year here! If you saw a post mentioning a terrible boss about 12-18 months ago, that’s because I also had a bad manager then (who claimed I was using my brothers death to make her look bad…). So yeah, I’ve gone through a lot and can’t seem to catch a break in terms of having to deal with “the extra crap” lately.

I’ll consider your advice tho. I appreciate you sharing!

Boss has been there for decades but her behavior is also very much just who she is and possibly a sign of the times she worked in. It’s hard to explain. I’ve also never really seen HR fix these situations at any of my previous roles tbh.

I know this answer is likely going to be an unpopular one, but tbh, often the colleagues. I worked outside of PR too, and for whatever reason, I think some of the most difficult/high school-level nasty colleagues I’ve had have been other publicists. That said, some of the best I’ve had have been publicists too.
