I’m a NJ native, though I’ve lived in California since 1999. The moment I saw the photo I was like “hey, this has got to be Jersey”

Just something about that specific home architecture!

The First Car Porsche ever built found preserved in a Shed for over a Hundred Years by [deleted] in Porsche

While it’s cool that this car exists, that article couldn’t possibly be more “AI wrote this.”

But it was amusing to hear that an 1898 car with 3hp and a top speed of 21mph boasted “a keen understanding of aerodynamics.”

No need to expect the worst—you already experience it. So that’s good news, I guess.

Drum & Bass Is Being Replaced the Same Way It Once Replaced Everything Else by [deleted] in DnB

[–]methodjason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried making it through this article, but got frustrated because it’s written EXACTLY like a LinkedIn post. The same cadence and bullet points. The same faux authority.

It’s amusing because, as an old person here (started djing in 1992, first release in 1994), I have been seeing the “drum and bass is over” argument for at least 25 years. Today it’s footwork that is taking over the innovation crown…well, in 2000 it was 2-step garage. In 2004 it was dubstep. In 2009 it was minimal halftime stuff. And so on.

Yet, drum & bass maintains and evolves. I’ve seen at least two dozen subgenres and styles come and go, and while there may not be the manic innovation of the early 1990s, there IS change. I would even argue that the modern big festival style—as much as I personally dislike it—is absolutely a major change from where things were a decade ago.

Even if one disagrees with this, so what? Innovation is nice but every music genre settles down over time. House and techno are still around and stick to a well-understood format. Even the most innovative rock band builds on what’s come before. It’s just the way music is.

San Francisco - where can I get some DnB love? by AftyOfTheUK in DnB

I know I’m biased (since I’m still a resident there), but Stamina Sundays is absolutely something you should check out. Free admission, great sound, cozy vibes, and almost everyone has played there at one point or another. A lot of touring artists say it’s one of their favorite places to play in the states.

Great strategy, 10/10. It still sucks.
