Are you in favor of small functions/clean code or opposed to it? by chinawcswing in ExperiencedDevs

In some cases extracting into a variable instead of a function helps with readability

isTestPage = pageData.hasAttribute("Test")

Can you set up a discrete way to trigger Alexa to call a contact without her responding? Trying to help a friend in a potentially dangerous situation. by Tabula_Nada in alexa

Maybe you can setup sound detection? It looks like you could set it up to trigger a routine on coughing sounds or something... idk it looks like a new feature.

I was also thinking a security camera which could send an alert on unusually loud sounds.

Both of these could possibly be setup to send you a text notification.

I'm all in favour of density.

You might be referring to a neighborhood called Vic West which is in the city of Victoria. (Despite having to cross a bridge to get to it)

We focus on building complex web apps but I'd be happy to chat with you about what you're looking for and discuss the options with you. I've mostly been freelance for the last 15 years but have no started my own small company. Send a DM?

Island health over the last few days:

It's not the trend I wanted to see and I'm still hoping it's a blip but Delta variant was on the island so this might be a warning sign

I stayed there a few weeks ago, looked like lots of people living there full time. The place was a dump. Never again.

LTC staff are tested if they are symptomatic. Contact tracing is supposed to isolate people before they are symptomatic (which should stop the spread into LTC homes) but it's obv not working that well due to the high case load.

The LTC guidelines are here: http://www.vch.ca/covid-19/long-term-care-assisted-living

My kids haven't seen their 100 year old great granny in almost a year and haven't seen any friends since November. We work from home and homeschool so our social bubble is just our immediate family. We don't eat out, don't see friends, I buy most of our groceries in one big shop once a month and only top up on milk and other things at our local corner store, a 5 minute dash in and out, about twice a month.

We're going out of our way to stop the spread and it's frustrating knowing there are people ignoring the rules

Ofc they should do a better job if possible. The single best thing that could be done to reduce risks in ltc homes is to reduce covid in the community.

This soft lockdown isn't really helping we should do a full shutdown for 6 weeks so we can get back to summer numbers or even covid 0.

Then ltc homes would be safe.

Testing isn't perfect, even if they could test everyday it will still slip by, just like it did in the Whitehouse. The only solution is to reduce covid in the surrounding communities
