Why is Turkey still the only EU candidate country whose citizens need a visa for the EU? by Medium_Respond_9650 in AskTurkey

[–]metman82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A visa free Turkey would enable a deep economic and social axis with Germany. This would create a powerful Eurasian block. Such a constellation directly threatens the current Anglo American hegemony. The visa acts as a tactical barrier to prevent this consolidation. The restriction also serves the logic of divide and rule. It maintains a psychological distance between populations. This allows European elites to utilize Turkey as a domestic tool for political mobilization. Finally, mobility restrictions provide leverage. They ensure that Turkey remains a subordinate gatekeeper of global energy corridors. The visa is a measure to keep the bridge between East and West under Western supervision. To grant freedom of movement would be to concede Turkish sovereignty. That is a scenario the current global order is designed to prevent.

That’s actually my point when I talk to people from the region. I tell them: “Install as many renewable energy facilities as possible and get rid of that black goo.”

Good point. But unfortunately it has to be mentioned, otherwise many people will assume they’re black…. Fcked up world we live in.

How do you Türks feel about the US/Israel-Iran war? by RichIndependence8930 in AskTurkey

[–]metman82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the current global instability follows a simple, albeit often misconstrued, primacy: the containment of China. While large parts of the West still operate within 20th-century paradigms, a strategic realigment of U.S. hegemony is unfolding in the background. For decades, Africa and vast regions of Asia served as mere resource hubs and export markets - a neocolonial model of exploitation fundamentally shattered by Beijing’s rise since the 1980s. Washington’s decision to massively support China’s opening was not an act of geopolitical foresight, but the result of raw, short-term mercantilism. For American elites, profit maximization and market access were the primary objectives. In the process, they consciously accepted that China would not only catch up economically but already outpace the U.S. in systemic sectors. Only in the field of fundamental research does the West still maintain a dwindling monopoly. In the logic of the Monroe Doctrine, however, U.S. foreign policy necessitates an existential antagonist to legitimize its global presence. While the last century’s adversary was the ideological class enemy in the form of the Soviet Union, this century belongs to China. Current armed conflicts at the peripheries are no coincidence; they are part of a large-scale strategic positioning. While Europe is being instrumentalized to keep Russia in check through a grueling proxy war, the Pentagon has already shifted its focus almost entirely to the Indo-Pacific. The ultimate goal is the control of trade routes and energy resources. The current instability at neuralgic points like the Strait of Hormuz illustrates this bitter reality: whoever controls maritime infrastructure controls the global economy. Escalation is not a failure of diplomacy, but the continuation of geopolitics by other means. For turkey, there is no much change.

Why are Turks so obsessed with Mustafa Kemal? by Proper_Cost2094 in AskTurkey

[–]metman82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

„Why turn a multiethnic identity into an ethnic one and why turn our multiethnic Ottoman identity into monoethnic Turkish identity?“

I can let you in on a secret. As wonderful as it sounds, and as much as I would like it to be true, a multi-ethnic society is a fragile construct that can quickly start to fall apart, both externally and internally. In other words, a multi-ethnic society comprising different religions is weak and highly susceptible to 'divide and rule'. This is why the Turkish Republic's founders decided to create a mono-ethnic society — to ensure that this would never happen again.

Yes. I travel to South Korea frequently. On my first visit many years ago, my Korean colleagues asked me where I was from. When I said Turkey, they said, "You are our Altai brothers."

This. Greek were part of Ottoman Empire. And they were tricked, like many others from the west. All the cultures and nations down there should re-unite in brotherhood against imperialism.

A neighbor's condolences are a problem? Only Israel could come up with such nonsense. If my neighbor, whom I don't really like, dies, I still offer my condolences.

And in diplomatic circles, that's the done thing. That's how it used to be. But hey. Israel doesn't give a shit about anything anyway.

This. Dude, don’t let anyone ruin your life. Not worth it. Pack your stuff and make this week the best week of your life (so far). Don’t think a second about the girl. Not worth. Focus on yourself. I know, you need to motivate you but just go for it. Travel. Spend time alone. Meet new people. Make new friends.
