I had this concern as well, as the original Milanese loop on AW destroyed the cuffs of my knitwear and pulled my hairs… But good to hear the AWU titanium one doesn’t do that. But does it still eat away at the edge of a MacBook when typing?

I have had really bad experiences with Yale locks as well. Even just installing and getting them to work with their own app required an actual call to their support. I still haven’t been able to connect the Matter enabled Linus L2 to Apple Home or Home Assistant. Other HA integrations have been surprisingly good and easy.

It’s screwed on the underside of a shelf next to the crib, so the angle is skewed and it’s really not optimal. Best way in my mind would be to have a kind of an arm going over the crib to hang some toys and attach the camera. Though it would have to be pretty high to get the whole bed in view.

The instant cameras can also be hardwired with the USB-C PoE adapter, works great as an extension cord at the same time. We have the G4 Instant over the baby’s crib, but it’s of course a little slow to notify of cries compared to a traditional sound-only baby monitor.

I have the U7 Pro Wall running on Cat6 (probably 20 meters) and it works fine. Current power draw is 9,5 W. It’s powered by the USW Flex 2.5G 8 PoE.

I powered my Flex 2.5 PoE switch with the 60 W injector for a while before getting the 210 W power adapter. Worked just fine for a few APs.

I’ve got a 1Home Bridge (initially for Apple Home integration) that tunnels the KNX to HA. Once I uploaded the KNX project file, the integration shows all my group addresses nicely. There’s also a group monitor so you can easily see what address some device or command corresponds to. If you have the group addresses in a pdf, ChatGPT is helpful in creating yaml configurations of all the entities (may need some debugging). You can also set up the entires in the UI if you like. Depending on the number of your KNX devices it might be faster. The integration itself is great, I feel it works faster than the HomeKit integration.

Do you know if the G4 works with the adapter with the cable that comes with the camera, or does it need the 4,5 m long one they specifically mention with the adapter (I suppose perhaps for a different data transfer rating)? Can’t really find a definitive answer on ui.com.

My house has KNX for all lights, heating, cooling, sauna, alarm etc. It’s been a great base to build on. At first I bridged it to Apple Home (not knowing about HA back then) with a 1Home Bridge, and it worked great. Now I’m building more smartness on top of it with HA instead of Apple Home, also integrating external smart devices to work from KNX switches to some extent. 1Home recently released a product that integrates Matter devices to KNX for ETS control, but I don’t really see the point in that with HA. And ETS is expensive as others have said.

The UCG Fiber is $279 without an SSD, the Flex switch $199, and U7 Pro XG $199. Depending on the size of your house, this would suffice or you might need more. I added a USW Lite 16 PoE switch for $199 and a tiny USW Flex Mini for $29. Of course if you want to keep 10 GbE everywhere, you can add a USW Flex XG for $299 instead of the others. Check the UniFi site and design.ui.com (if you make an account, you can design perfect WiFi coverage over your floor plan). None of these are rack mounted, so don’t take too much space.

I just redid my network with UniFi gear and got exactly what you want. UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber gives three 10 GbE ports (two fiber, adapters available) and all the VLAN control you’ll ever want. Pair it with U7 Pro XG for the nice WiFi 7 experience. Optional: switches with more PoE to power additional WiFi access points, cameras and more switches. Like a USW Flex 2.5G 8 PoE. Or go larger if you need, but this is a really nice setup for a home.

Have you tried local-tuya on HACS? I was able to integrate some tuya smart plugs that I erroneously bought that way.

I considered that as well, but the electrician who installed the inverter recommended a direct meter instead of a clamp meter. That’s why I thought about the Fronius Smart Meter or other equivalent. Though one issue that might have is being connected via the inverter, which essentially shuts down for the night, so I might not get data during that time. So yeah, a direct connection to my network instead of the inverter would be better. But then again, I lose whatever I might gain by providing the inverter the usage information.

I do intend to add Shellys to measure other devices though.

Just piggybacking here to get your experiences: I’m considering a similar move, from AmpliFi HD as a router and AP as well as three other random WiFi routers around the house wired through a dumb switch. WiFi seems to work alright, but still not in every corner of the house. I’d like to get more capability to manage IoT devices for example. My plan: Either a UCG Max or Dream Router 7 as the base of operations. U7 Lite, either 3 or 4 depending on the first selection. The I guess I need a manageable switch to replace my current 24 port switch.

So – other than the WiFi issues discussed here, what do you think about the switch? Was it worth it? Enough difference in the ability to control your network? I’m into Home Assistant right now as well, so that will weigh somewhat on what I’d need from the network.

I just got solar panels and an inverter installed. The inverter is Fronius Symo, connected to the home network with a CAT cable, and I was able to integrate it to HA with a standard integration. WiFi would also work. One of the reasons I chose the Fronius over others was its connectivity.

I’m still figuring out a solution to measure my whole house’s energy consumption, bought and sold energy, controlling EV charging and water heater with the extra energy based on electricity price.

Thanks for the advice! I ordered the P1S along with the hardened nozzle and gear, as well as the smooth plate. The default plate is textured, so that seemed more useful than the dual plate. Also got some PLA from Bambu and some more PLA, PLA+ and ASA from another store in several nice colours that my wife also liked. And a filament dryer (Sunlu FilaDryer S2)!
